Well that won't come true. Not as a phone at least. What you are describing is the next gen Newton. NOBODY wants their phone, even a smart phone, to be any bigger than the iPhone. Might as well hold the Zack Morris brick cell phone up to your head again lol. But it would be cool to have a bigger tablet like Newton like you are describing yes. And maybe it even can make calls and all that but Apple would not market it as a phone. Now you may not want an iPhone Nano because of your computing desires, but that is a HUGE market that Apple will definitely target soon. Not everyone can afford a smart phone, and that pic that I posted of the iPhone Nano would be PERFECT for teens and all those that just want a normal phone that also happens to be easy to use, really cool, AND an iPod. :)

Bluetooth would be used so you don't put it to your ear. But yes I was thinking a mini tablet like device with phone capabilities and WIFI. Closer to a computer than to a PDA. Take notes, connect to projector and give a presentation, cary in the hand or on a carrying case. Leave the LAptop home.

What do you guys think of this idea???

It would be just like the current iPhone but also with an iSight on the front. On the top right corner is like the album art flipper where you flip from the back camera to the front camera (no more fumbling to take a pic of yourself). The camera now takes pics and records videos as you can see on the bottom left and right and each is saved to its icon on the far left or right. Pics have all the current options plus the addition of posting to Flickr. Videos are saved in a video role with videos like the pics are now in photos. Videos can also be emailed, posted on .mac web gallery, or uploaded to YouTube. Pics and videos can also be done in landscape for widescreen.

Obviously they would also add an iChat AV app for this front iSight as well maybe only on WiFi now or 3G when that comes. So this is the draft of my implementation. You guys like?

yeah, that's a cool idea, having ichat and things of the sort, but i don't think i would use it that much. it would feel awkward to me--walking around with an iphone to my face talking to someone, although it would be cool if you were sitting in an airport or something. anyway, i think it would better to have a small isight camera in front likein the picture, hopefully it would be almost invisible and maybe bring some new technology to the table and make a smaller, 3.2 megapixel camera on the back.

but we have to remember, with the iPhone there are only a few hardware possibilities but infinate software possibilities-- thats the magic of apple

I think iChat is totally possible on the iPhone and that we will see it within a year for sure. I don't think it will be like on our Macs with 4 video chats and all that, that is just not realistic. But single video chatting over WIFI and maybe 3G yes. I think it would be a thing that people use sometimes as a keep in touch, not that they would replace all of their calling with it. Some people just don't like to be seen all the time, it's human nature. I didn't really take a lot of time on my mock up but I think they could hide the front camera in the speaker like I was showing so they it is not really noticeable.

Not to toot my own horn or anything lol but I really love the idea of flipping from the front to back camera and vice-versa like the album art in the iPod in my mock up pic. I know people that have complained about no physical button for the camera and how impossible it is to take a pic of yourself because you don't know where the button is, but that solves that problem and makes it really simple to use whichever camera you want.
