Missed opportunity. They should have released it with a joystick attachment like the PSP Go. Make it modular. The Ipod touch is thin enough. All they have to do is create the base where the ipod touch can just attach and slide up and down like the PSP Go.

That's what I want!!! Then I can play full screen games where I'm not bending over my fingers to see or be able to both.

I didnt think people used these cameras that much. Apparently I'm mistaken. On second thought, my sister has hundreds of pictures on her iphone.

My point is, if you want to take decent pictures, buy a point and shoot. I would rather have a fm option than a camera. That is just me.

what i like about having a camera on the touch is that i can upload the pictures when i'm around a wifi spot. This will be great to have on my trip to Asia not needing to bring a laptop. Iphone 3gs is too expensive.

This would be great. Even though I just bought a new iPod touch a camera and mic would be a step in the right direction. I have resorted to taking pictures with my phone...its just easier than carrying a point and shoot around and half the time I'm not looking for amazing quality, just a decent picture.

This would be a great fall is Apple brought matte display option to the 15" MBP and a camera/mic to the ipod touch. And if the tablet rumor is right that would be even better.

Just going out on a limb here - I bet the secondary hole next to where [the supposed] camera would be, is for the microphone. For video a front facing microphone would be neat.

I don't see why a nano would sport a camera, but who knows. A mic would actually be more reasonable to enable voice recording without additional hardware.

I am waiting to buy the new iPod Touch when it's released, and I am really hoping it comes with a videocamera because I want to centralize my media needs (and at the same time, don't want to get locked in a contract for the iPhone).

Anyone know when it's getting released btw? Early September?

Great news, although I think we already knew this. But I really hope the touch get a little thicker so they can add a better battery. Better battery +performance and camera = I will buy it !.

total fake the ipod is pictured with 1.1/2 firmware (why not just have it with latest and make it more believeable) the nano looks wrong..... altered if you will sorry but it be a fake

...Anyone know when it's getting released btw? Early September?

If we knew, we'd be rich! ;)
Last year's update was around September 9th... So it's (kind of) safe to think they might release this update around the same timeframe.
As long as the device is ready, of course!

As for the (possibly) fake pics, did you guys ever saw advertising from non-apple store that were featuring iPods? It's mostly not the Apple provided pictures, so anything is possible... Let's hope! :)

(Of course they did some in-house Photoshop but remember, the idea here is to show the cases...)

new memory

Does anyone if they are going to be upgraded memory in the itouchs

My ipod touch broke this afternoon on splash mountain in disneyland so i hope this is true. i haven't been to disneyland in ages and don't remember it soaking me how it did today.

I have to say that I'm very interested in an iPod touch with camera/video recording/iPhoto integration and a built-in Mic. Bumping the capacities and reducing the prices would likewise be great. $300 32GB touch this September? I can dream...

Buy $170 32GB iPod Touch 2G, or wait for 3G and pay $399?

What's the best value for my money?

Will the camera add significant features and the processor/memory upgrades increase performance significantly?

I will be using the iPod during workouts, as an iPod, as well as at coffee shops and on the subway during commutes to finish up quick emails, edit documents, and replace my laptop for small jobs. Tired of carrying that around everywhere.

These cases are prolly real, the only reason that those pictures look like that, is manufacturer's use a generic picture, and it costs less, I sell these cases at my store (current gen) and one of my supplier has iPod Touch 3rd Generation cases in stock with the same picture in them, and I am able to order them.

btw the Silicone cases for 2nd gen and 1st gen ipod touches I sell right now have that EXACT same cardboard with that picture on it.

and if you think this is weird.... last week I ordered a new type of cases for LG Voyager (Verizon Phone) which came with an iPhone home screen printed on a cardboard -_-
