girl were you not all over this thing a couple months ago? does the oversaturation just have you tired or is my memory shot? 😂

(sidenote—hope calling you “girl” in like every single reply to you doesn’t come off as patronizing, it’s what I call basically everyone irl and this place is such a g/d sausagefest that it’s rare I get to actually say it around here lmaooo)
No sir! I never was. I don't find the AR/VR headset appealing. That's including the ones that are out there in the current market. I just think they are too gimmicky. It looks fun and cool for the first 5 minutes after that it gets boring. Reminds me of watching a 3D Movie. Looks nice for 5-10 minutes after that you are wandering around. We don't have too much time left.

Regardless, I don't even think the assembly production has taken place otherwise we would be getting the reports from the assembly line. The most we are getting is a sneak peek of the AR/Vr headset in WWDC 2023. Apple may release it in the Fall of 2023.

Good morning! Welcome to the WWDC live in-person. We are never more gladder than today. We have some great things to show to you today and we hope you will like it very much.
Today, Apple is redefining the reality itself. Welcome to RealityMax Universe where you can be anyone you want. For this we are releasing iEyeGlass and the operating system , we are calling it eyeOS.

alright, I’ll chalk that one up to having the memory of an ant (and conflating this with your generally high praise for Apple products in general), my bad 😂

honestly the rumors are so all over the place at this point that I don’t know what to think. it definitely hasn’t entered mass production though, I’d say you’re right about that otherwise there would be so many more tangible leaks. to me it’s a product that really hinges on how Apple presents it—I can’t envision any practical use for it, but I couldn’t envision any practical use for an iPad when they first came out, and here I am having owned 3-4 models since 2010. (lost count because I kept selling them to buy a new iPhone, lmaoooo)

people were also dogpiling on the Watch when it first came out, but I immediately hopped on that and look how ubiquitous it’s become. I think this will be similar to the Watch in terms of being a very iterative product—again, this hinges on their presentation, but if they pull it off, I could see it getting some widespread adoption in 4-5 years.

some. they’re gonna have to do something about that hip battery first. 😆

realOS doesn't fit into their naming scheme though. With the exception of iOS, every OS name that's followed has been _(name of product)_OS.

Apple Mac = macOS
Apple Watch = watchOS
Apple TV = tvOS
Apple iPad = iPadOS

What wil the name of this AR/VR headset be? Supposedly, it's going to be called Reality Pro which means OS would be realityproOS or realityOS
Yea but realityproOS is ugly and a mouthful.

Good points! Are you ready to eat your lunch like this?

takeMyMoneyOS. I don't really care what they call it. I'm just ready for Apple to enter a new product category. Bring it on. All you haters can just keep hating if you want.

What if PRO doesn't mean what you think it means? PRO could stand for PROfit. ;)

However, as should now be apparent, Apple appears to be attempting to round up all similar-sounding names to whatever is the actual name... presumably to keep competitors from grabbing a similar name to use with inevitable clones. Standard practice. Nothing to see here.

It appears that whatever the final name, it probably has the words real and OS in it. All prefixes, suffixes, adornments and slight variations can simply be cut to the common letters/words. Whatever those are probably points to the final naming.
… or it could stand for Prematurely Rendered Obsolete … 😊

Whatever happens, if its the last product apple makes, Or if it becomes a massive thing down the line. An un-opened Apple VR/XR device will sell to some XR youtuber for 1 billion in 2055 (Could be inflation, who knows?)

I might take up a loan and buy a couple as an investment :)

The RealOS is MacOS… this gimmick should be running FakeOS or UnRealOS. It will match well with the unreal pricing.

Most likely it won‘t even run without the latest iPhone, a Mac, a subscription, a charging case, a unique Apple cleaning cloth and seperate arms/headband for the glasses, costing you your own arms, legs and entire life savings. Heck the lenses/screens on these glasses will probably be a required ‘accessory’ with a unique left and right piece, requiring your own eyes to be surgically removed and leaving you entirely dependant on the Apple glasses for vision. Now that is courage!

Yes. Their product naming has been piss poor. Two monkeys in a cage with a dictionary would have done no worse. A trillion dollar company and this is what they come up with?
I do not agree. Obviously, it is a bit messy but IMO entirely accurate. Apple clearly wants to diversify its portfolio so you have different iPhones for each user needs/pocket. If you a normal, average user you definitely do not need anything that has Pro, Ultra, Max or similar tag in its name. I also definitely prefer these tags rather misleading ones like "Slim" "Light" or similar. The old days when you had just one iPhone, "the iPhone" are over. We should all accept that. We should also accept that buying the latest and greatest Apple product is not always the best choice, not anymore. There are different variants of each products so it only depends on you how high you want to go on the price/features ladder and the current naming scheme gives you important hints. We can argue that Pro products are not Professional products to the fullest extent of this word, but these are also definitely not necessary for everyday, average user. I haven't seen any suggestion on more appropriate naming strategy, despite all saying the current one is bad. How you will name an iPhone variant with an expensive OLED display and 4 super-duper cameras?

Apple: We're so glad to finally release this we're going to call it gladOS.

realOS seems most likely of these since its 2 syllables or less +os. watchOS iOS tvOS iPadOS macOS

I bet the software name ends in OS. 🤪

If their current, and pretty straight-forward productOS naming convention holds true, then it all comes down to the name of the actual product. I'm just not seeing the platform being called Real. Apple Real just doesn't quite... Fit.

Of everything thrown out to date, xrOS stands out as being closest to both their current OS naming convention and something that could serve as a product name. Apple XR "could" work: where X stands for Mixed and R for Reality. Impossible to say/know with any certainty, obviously - which is part the fun (and why I've been lurking theses forums all this time). For me, the last few weeks leading up to a new category announcement, where nothing is known, are the most fun. That unknown can be exciting to ponder/discuss. Once it's all out in the open, the convo quickly moves from fun to somehitn along the lines fo the following:
• some will love it
• more will hate it
• many will complain about price
• some will call for Tim's head
• some will mention Steve
• a few may mention Ive
• some will lament a previous era of Apple (likely the same someones that mention Steve and/or Ive)
• one guy will be unable to resist making a "snappier" comment
• that same guy may also be tempted to drop a "Powerbook G5" comment
• some will claim they'll wait for the 5th iteration before jumping in, looking down on anyone who jumps in on iterations 1-4
• an unusually high number of people will demand the goggles offer side-loading
• a metric-ton of Android users will flock to the forums to say irrelevant things about a platform they neither use, like, nor support
• many will go off on Kuo, German and other leakers for their inaccuracies
• I will enjoy it all

It's weird to think we're just 13 days out from all most of the unknowns being reveled and all of the fun that follows. Buckle up. 🤪😜

You absolutely nailed it! Personally I don't know if I will be in the market to purchase myself, but I am definitely along for the ride you just perfectly outlined.
