The name is really just a name. The iPhone 8 has also been the most successful mobile device form factor for them if not on the entire industry hence I’m sure there will be plenty buyers.
It's been the most successful form factor because they've recycled it so many times. That's not hard to figure out.

It will still be the smallest phone any manufacturer offers though, do you really not see that?
And it's still not small enough for myself and many others. Less crap doesn't mean something is good.

Do you think Apple should make an iPhone that few want?

The 2nd gen SE is a great phone at a great price. Far from crappy, it’s an amazing value. Apple could very well sell more 2nd gen SE in its first year than the 1st gen sold in its entire lifetime.

And a 5.5” version, if Apple had been able to release it at $399 last week, would be even more popular. Because the vast majority of customers want bigger phones.

Calling it the SE is going to alienate a lot of SE fans that liked it for a small capable phone, not a cheap second class one.

it is a small capable phone though, why would apple care if it alienated a few customers who upgrade so infrequently? Where exactly are these customers going to go?
