Apple watch rumors but no new rMBP. The rMBP will be in the fall and that's disappointing.

As for the watch, i won't get a new one unless they give me a decent discount for turning in mine. Sorry but it's just not worth the price. Great device, but easily livable without.

And the heart rate problem is real. Once i start getting sweaty during a workout, my HR must be 110-125 but the watch says 53. LOL nevermind the fact that my resting is 58.

I wear my watch correctly and over time and have learned to take the heart rate readings while I'm working out with a pinch of salt.

I couldn't wear the strap any tighter ever if I wanted to.

How do you know they are wrong?

Do you have a control device that shows they are wrong? Another band? How do you know that band isn't wrong?

You may have a defective watch.

What do you mean? My Garmin for example finds a signal in about 20-30 seconds...

depends where you are. In many areas you can't get a GPS lock for 5 minutes.

Let me guess it will be thinner with the same battery life

This thing needs to have a at least 2 full days worth of battery for me to even start considering it

LOL. 2 days. Guess you will be 'watchless' for a while.

Blows my mind that people can't charge their watch every night. It literally takes 2 seconds for me to put my watch on the dock each night. For me its way easier to charge each day. It would be harder to remember to charge every other day.

Every day charge my phone and watch. Takes 5 seconds to do both. LOL.

guess you are going bust then.

A GPS would make the watch to heavy (you would need to add a cell radio also)
too expensive ( go add another $120 to add GPS+LTE radio)
and GPS will drain the battery big time.

My TomTom Runner 2 has GPS + heartbeat monitor + music player inbuilt, at roughly the same size/weight and half the price of the AW. Yes, the screen is mono and w/o touch, but then again, battery life is way better.

Going by that logic, they should've named the iPhone the MacPhone.

Well no. Go back to the reasoning of "Why?" they named the iPhone, the "iPhone" and that reasoning still applies to the "Apple Watch". Try again.

Too heavy? I have had several GPS watches and they are not heavy at all. Why would you think adding it would make it heavier? If done properly, battery life shouldn't be affected.

You answered your own question.
Mono screen vs full color OLED.

This is like expecting an iPhone to have the same battery life as a flip phone.

Uh, GPS radio takes space. Also note that GPS watches don't have a taptic engine or a CPU that is as big as the AppleWatch. The Apple watch screen also takes much more size and weight than a simple Mono screen.

The truth is very few people need a GPS radio on their watch. Those who do probably are better off buying a dedicated fitness band.

The tech just is not ready for a stand alone Watch. Maybe in 3 years.

Personally what I'd like to see is the Watch as a standalone product with LTE/GPS. Then you could buy a seperate touch screen that would act as the Watches 'monitor'. But keep in mind a stand alone Watch that takes the place of your phone would cost $600 minimum.

With the Watch being the central brain you could buy multiple touch screens at different sizes. These touch screens would be dumb screens. So some days you could bring along a 6 inch screen, other days 4 inch. Other days 10 inch.

I would agree with you except for 2 things.

1) Sleep tracking- I've gone back and forth wearing during sleep, but I've now been doing it for the past 3-4 weeks and I love it. I especially love being able to wake up with a tap on the wrist. Much easier on me (and my gf). I haven't really had a huge issue with battery life because it charges so quickly, but extended battery life would only help.

2) Weekends/sleepovers/etc. It's easy to go away for the weekend and forget your charger. Or stay a night at your gf's place (or someone you met at the bar). Or get too drunk and need to crash at a friends place. There are many, many reasons why it'd be reasonable to expect to not have the ability to charge your watch every single night. It won't stop you from charging nightly if you want (if my iPhone is at 60%+ battery life I'll still charge it), but on those unexpected occasions that you can't charge it you'll be good for the next day.

Macs were their bread and butter... Had they used your reasoning it would've been MacPhone. There is no need to try again. That's what you were suggesting by keeping the same naming conventions with all of their products.
