He is the Micheal Angello of our time, think about it.....

WOW... Micheal Angello.. guessing he's not related to Michelangelo Buonarroti the famous Painter and Sculptor of the renaissance.... different last name and all.

docking

Dual dock connectors helps to answer some questions about interaction using a bluetooth keyboard. Just dock it in something that will hold it like a laptop screen and read from or input. Dual connectors allows for portrait or landscape.

Read said post. You clearly question Apple's decision (smartness?) in not using its reserves to invest in netbooks and mid-towers. So, I assume a smart investor who knows that a company has a bad strategy would not buy said stock, right?

Apple was investing in netbooks. Apple's candidate for that slot in their line up is the iPad/iSlate/i-device-to-be-named . It isn't filling the slot the same way ( take upmarket OS and jam into smaller device ), but it very likely will be the "more affordable, lighter weight, with some limitations" alternative to the MacBook. Not going to dip quite as low in price as the competitors but it will be a stab at lower.

Midtower .... wait till next rev of mini. If do it right (with something like lightpeak and non-hostile memory replacement) most grumblings will disappear. Again not to exactly mimic the mainstream PC solution but address the core issue(s).

However, as much as a "Apple is going to cure world hunger and save everyone in Haiti with this device" has been built into the stock price... yeah it could very well drop the day after. Going to be kind of funky though. There are adjustments after earnings day too usually and that is two days prior to this shindig. Volatility is going to be high this coming week with two major events. If they come in over estimates I think rationality is going out the window (along with price. ). They will hit some big players' "rebalance on price" triggers and it will come back a bit.

I think we need to call a cease fire on the rumors for the next week. We're setting ourselves up for a big disappointment because half of these awesome rumors aren't going to be true. (MacBook Air anyone?)

I would think if you put the dock connector near a corner, you could just have one connector.

I've been predicting the tablet would have a slot so various carriers could sell/bundle a card to make it work with their network, and Wi-Fiers like me could get it without a 3G contract, or add 3G later.

Apple's not a big fan of slots.

Especially if don't need them. As long as restricted to just 3G data network traffic there are solutions out there that work with any of the vast majority of carriers out there after some "soft" updates and config specific to the carrier (exact same hardware though).

There is a need for a slot when the hardware is varying. When it is the same... there isn't. There may be a SIM slot ( since IDs defacto mean new hardware with right read-only data. )

Doubtful

ive been reminding people of this for a while.

http://gizmodo.com/339918/apple-docking-patent-works-perfectly-with-ultra+slim-macbook

see the purpose of the sideways dock?

enough said.

That patent has been floating around for a while, and pardon me for saying it, but I just don't see this happening. Nor do I see two dock connectors happening.

Frankly, the dock is a pointless thing to have. Why not just have some stand that you plug your iPod cable (presuming the iPod cable here) into if it's one way or the other? Requiring a second dock port just for the sake of orientation does not strike me as elegant or worth the manufacturing cost.

And regarding that patent, why would I want to totally hide my sweet 10" touch screen directly behind another screen? I would rather prop the tablet up on a stand and be able to connect it to any other kind of monitor for some dual screen action, not just with one particular apple monitor that would certainly be more pricey than others.

Cheers,

DCBass

Ha... let's test your powers of prognostication. Search for "Aidenshaw" with keyword "stock". Found many posts -- pick one at random in the middle of the first page:

OK. April 9th, 2009 (date of above post), Apple's stock price was $119.57.

Apple closed today (down $3.57) at $208.07, or 74% higher than April 19th.

I'm not saying Apple has a winning strategy or not. But, it's clear to me that you don't know whether it does or not either.

People have kinda caught on to the play on Apple before events.

Yet they just added an SD slot to some computers. And they've put in slots periodically, such as ExpressCard. And a 3G slot helps in many ways in this case. They could support ATT and Verizon with just the one model, for example.

They added SD and took away expresscard. And as time has gone on, the number of slots has slowly decreased with each new device. There will be no 3G slot. They can support ATT and Verizon with a single qualcomm chip, so why make a slot?

Two issues.

1. The more creditable leaks tend to come more frequently as get closer to the date. (more people really know the real deal so it leaks) The stuff that is a year out is most often wrong. So suppressing the accurate stuff is extremely weird. Ideally IMHO the forum should be used to filter the wheat from the chaff rumors. (get the innaccurate stuff out of the way). As oppose to the "I know you are but what am i" , "I want apple to build this", and the "church of windows/Apple/Jobs-divinity" cult discussions that clog it up.

2. There are always dozens of "it dooomed" / "they should have done what I said" posters that will show up anyway. New rumors or not.

stock price

People have kinda caught on to the play on Apple before events.

Usually the stock runs up right before these events "on the rumors", then falls after the annoucnement. However, the one exception to this was the original iPhone announcement. The stock went crazy on the announcement, and for a week after the announcement. It gained 10% over the next week.

This week feels exactly how that week before the iPhone was announced felt, so I'm holding my few shares through the announcement, because I think the earnings report on Monday and the announcement on Wednesday will send the price through the roof.

I love that we are now casually calling it 'the tablet event'. It all sounds plausible, and adds up to a pretty interesting device for my needs...

yeah - although I would laugh my ass off if they introduced Aperture X and iLife 11 with MacPaint X and .. there was yet again no mention of a tablet.

Not likely I think, but it'd be hilarious.

Have you all forgotten about the Apple patent which called for a tablet like device to slide into (the side of) and doc with an iMac-like enclosure?

I just hope that it has ebook reader capability (eInk) screen that is easy on the eye with multi touch capability to turn pages. That is the major function I need. The rest is just icing on the cake.

Because that single chip necessitates licensing fees for both CDMA and GSM and are forced into every tablet they sell when a lot of people already own iPhones and won't pay another data plan fee for the tablet.

LOL. I guarantee you that Apple isn't going to add a slot to decrease a licensing fee that it's just going to pass on to the consumer, anyway, and which will have no measurable effect on the final price.

Keep dreaming, but I guarantee you there will be no such slot.

Syncing? What would it sync with? I dont think it is going to be an iPod where it needs to sync with anything. It should be a computer just slower, and no keyboard. I can see a dock for the keyboard part (but i think more of a stand that also charges) would probably be enough.

You do realize it's a portable device with small storage that's not going to be running the full Mac OSX? Don't you want to backup data as well as syncing up your libraries of music, videos and applications from your iTunes library on your main machine?

It will most likely have the same sync solution as iPhone itself.
