Apple's site now says we're going to be blown away, this just keeps getting better and better... I am extremely anxious!!!

I really liked voicegy's idea that we may see some sort of 25th anniversary mac. Maybe a SE imac package that will blow everything else away, who knows...

Another thing id like to see, is if apple copied sony and put one of those wacom tablet/lcd things on the imacs. those things would be great for graphic artists and designers one of apples key markets.

The only other digital "i" device I can think of that would be in apple's feild would be a PDA but steve has said himself that they arnt gonna make one. so maybe steve will redefine a digital device and make somethan else up... who the hell knows, we can only speculate. im just pissing my pants waiting for the 7th to arrive, it's like another christmas.

A PDA is the last thing that apple needs - don't let steves ego get in the way

A PDA is exactly what apple dosen't need at the moment. I'm sure that Steve's not stupid enough to put out a PDA for mwsf. At the moment, we are really in need of the g4 apollo (or a g5, probably unlikely to appear). We'll probably also see another digital hub device - after all, how can the iBook/iMac be the "center of your digital life" if apple have only got an iPod out. I think we're also going to hear a BIG announcement - we've seen rumors of either apple or m$ taking over adobe, but heard nothing more about it recently... has that fallen through, or have people forgot about it or what??

this is a rumor site

quit posting dreams in a serious discussion! there are forums for that elsewhere on this site. every other one of the posts on this thread is an amazingly unpractical list of things that will probably not all appear at the expo! come on: g5's and flatpanel iMacs and OS X on wintel?
what the heck is that?

do you realize how huge that last thing alone would be?
apple would never release something before it was a serious product. For a company the size of apple, OS X on wintel would take at least a year or two of work on nothing but that. That would mean we never got TiBooks for one.

no X on wintel

making OS X avaliable for wintel machines is something apple would never do. as someone mentioned before, apple's software is designed to work with a specific type of hardware. windows' big problem is that with the many different types of processors and hardware out there, it it hard to make the software compatible with everthing that is out there. if apple decided to make os X for PC, it would have to do the same thing microsoft did with windows, and that would probably make os X an incredibly slow piece of software, especially on PC. and if X worked well on PC, apple still would not do it for the fact that apple hardware is more expensive than PC hardware. yes, mac hardware is of great quality, but face it, PC's are much cheaper (and yes, i know they suck, there isn't a working PC in my house). if you could run OS X on a PC machine and it worked just as well as it did on a mac, you would probably go out and buy a PC box to run it, especially if you were on a tight budget (like me) =)

i do think we will see the introduction of the flat panel imac with faster G3 chips possibly reaching 1Ghz, and hopefully a faster graphics card. i do not think the G5 will be released, but it may possibly be announced and demoed, with apple taking pre-orders (possibly). speed-bumped G4's with Apollo chips reaching 1ghz and up. mabey some sort of new device for the digital hub. we will have to wait and see.

Apple and ???

Apple and Sony isn't likely but Apple and Palm... maybe.

They certainly are back in the gadget-that-fits-in-your-pocket mode.

Else, a 100GB FireWire-equipped QuickTime "VCR" would be nice, somewhat like TiVo and very similar in concept (and perhaps OS) as the iPod. This would certainly mesh nicely with the iDVD concept and could easily have a DVD reader, not to mention HDTV tuner.

Then again, maybe it's just a Flower Power iBook. <Shudder>

MD.

OSX etc etc

I went too far with the "OS X on Intel thing" - in hindsight it isnt going to happen.
BUT - there has to be some kind of change in the way MS has so much power and the DOJ versus MS is still going on.....something could be in the wind. It probably wouldnt be an MWSF announcement tho.

1 ghz is absolutely essential - so much is riding on the perception of new Mac buyers with this.

I agree with the comment about another digital device - iPod is all on its ownsome. Then again, you cant expect Apple to start making DV cameras.

PDA does not seem likely. There isnt enough profit in it. Enhanced iPod seems a possibility.

How much fuss did Apple make about iPod - a lot!
This begins to smell like bloody Ginger......

I do hope we get some new servers - thats where I would like to see improvements.
Hot swap drives, redundant power, it wouldnt take much to make the current server line more attractive to companies.

Only trouble is - who is buying new servers right now? The used market is flooded. (although not with Mac servers......)

What would excite the masses?

Hmmm...

MacOS X on Intel-based systems to compete head-on with Linux.

A USB toaster-oven in iMac colors. 😀

New g4 graphics board with X-Plane in a ROM 😎 (okay, that's a personal request).

Every Apple owner to be given 100 shares of Apple stock.

I give up. What?

Beyond the rumors?!?!

Crazy! I can't wait!

Apple.com statement changed again!

It's midnight on the west coast, and I happened to take a look at Apple's site to see if they changed the little "teaser line" that they've been throwing out for the past couple of days...guys and gals, I think this one is simply the last word in what to expect:

"Beyond the rumor sites. Way beyond."

Conjecture away, boys and girls...we're in for a wonderful ride!

Scott

I found what there releasing!!!!!!!!!

A new UltraMAC computer with 10 2GHz G5s, 20GB RAM, Apple iVC 512MB 1tRAM video card, 10 120GB HDs made by Apple, 35' 3D All Colors Hologram monitor (you can stick your hand through it!!!), 50x DVDRW(DVDs in 35 seconds!!!), 6.1 DTS sound card, 10 FireWire2 ports, 15 USB 2.0 ports, TV Tuner, It also rips DVD. And that's just the low end.

what could it be.........

what else could apple possiby be developing. mabey the iCar? (just kidding) im thinking that it could be a multiprocessor machine that lets several people run different copies of the OS on it at one time, each person having thier own display, keyboard ect. with this all being hooked up to one central computer. it would be like having 4 computers in one box.

oh well, just an idea, we will know for sure on the 7th. i cant wait!

icar

The iCar isn't all that far fetched. Apple and VW (beetle) seem to have similar design philosophies. I'm sure Jobs loves that and would have joked about an Apple car years ago with CEO's over lunch. Maybe it's come to "fruition".

icar

To clarify my post:
VW would make the Apple iCar, Apple would logo and accecerize it (go nuts here).

It's big and will blow us away. And it will go way beyond the rumor sites... A business jet!!! Made of a combination of titanium and transparent materials, cockpit electronics using MacOS X, electric engines that can be charged through a firewire port,...

(I'm buying one for sure!)

ok i think this category has changed enough so that we can safely say that IT IS DEAD!! any and all new comments can and probaly should be made under NEW STRINGS!

Radeon 7000 and 8500 mac edition released

ATI confimred the 8500 will be at the show - the Reg posted it a week ago.

More interesting is the possible intro of the next nVidia card, which will be announced soon (CES or MWSF). I can't see them waiting until CEBIT.

The Star Trek hints really point at a communicator of some kind. MS Smartphone and Symbian seem to have this locked up, though its still early days.
