I'm thinking that the market has hit its peak already and there won't be many buying watches, until maybe, you don't need a phone for anything.

I'm glad that Apple Watch owners are happy. And more power to 'em. But, for me, not one more device that requires charging. Also, I much prefer my analogue watches - both mechanical and quartz.
For a long time I was like you, more interested in keeping and using my 15+ year old Seiko Automatic watch. I wore it every day, never had to have it serviced and it survived scuba diving, working on my cars, working with large industrial wood working equipment, and although the case was covered in scratches, the lens (sapphire) remained perfect. But a couple of years ago, I decided to try a Series 5 Nike Apple Watch, mainly to help track my health.

I wasn’t sure if I would wear it every day and in fact for a while was wearing both the Watch and my Seiko at the same time (different wrists). But that didn’t last and I’ve come to rely on my Watch so much that I only take it off when I need to charge it every 30 hours or so. It’s great at tracking my heart health and workouts (6 days a week). I especially like being able to leave my iPhone at home when going for bike rides or to the beach, knowing I’m still able to get in contact with people if need be.

I just ended up giving the Seiko to my youngest adult son, as he stopped wearing his Apple Watch due to concerns over breaking it while he’s doing construction work. Now he gets to enjoy the marvel that is a mechanical watch, and I no longer feel bad for not wearing it. I am excited to see what the 7 version looks like. I’d actually like to upgrade to titanium, for scratch resistance and the sapphire lens it includes.

Where does Fitbit fall?

Must be way down the list if they weren't even worth mentioning.
That was what I transitioned to after the Jabra "UP" and then to the AW because it was so much more useful. Before that I had not worn a watch for 10-15 years. They seemed so useless for as a unitasker....although I did have a Casio Calculator watch for a while. Even now with the AW, I don't see it s a watch but an extension of the iPhone.

I have an Apple Watch series 5 which I wear every day.

How do I use it? -

Gym - record workouts
Music - paired with my AirPods, listen to my music collection also at the Gym
Mac - I use it quite often to automatically log into my Mac and also Apple Pay
Time - use it to tell time

Things I don't like -

Being asked to Breath and Stand all day long.
Battery Life (getting old, barely makes it a day)

Overall -

Generally I am ok with it as I am a watch wearer and its quite convenient at the gym.

I may buy a new model mainly for any battery life improvements.
You know you can turn those nag reminders off, right?

One word: BATTERY. More battery life is desperately needed.
I wouldn’t MIND, but it’s not a big deal for me. I charge at night and never go to bed with less than approximately 25%. (Sometimes still in the 40s.) Wear it all day every day (about 15 hours) including GPS workouts, steaming music, etc. mine is a S6 40mm that still shows 100% battery health.

I’m hoping the screen will be more durable. Dropped my S3 a single time and completely shattered the screen, rendering it unusable. Too expensive to repair out or warranty too.

I just charge when I shower and a bit after. That routine works fine for me.

The breath and stand can be turned off

While more battery is always good, I personally do not sleep with the watch on my wrist so every night before sleep it have a place on the charging pad . But it has been times when travelling internationally that has died on me because I didn’t charge it the day before.

What's so, so, SO SAD, are the people who got the first one or Gen 1, and are like "This thing sucks, it's too slow. It can't even do anything. I am never buying a watch again." Sad, so sad...

The thing is INSANE!!

nb, I do rotate between a Series 4 and Series 6 during the day, for full battery, sleeping, and 24 hours a day use. But will be advancing to Series 6 and Series 9, in the future ;)

Love my Apple Watch, but happy to see a local to me company, Garmin (shout out to Olathe, KS!), moving up! I drive by their campus every day. Big things going on! New distribution center was built on the campus recently. They're also in the process of converting their old DC in to new office space (I believe; building is currently torn apart like a lego set).
