Anyone got any updates ? I'm still having this issue but the weird thing is it seems fine on my Work's wifi. At home, it's unusable, even after buying a new Asus RT68u router.

Have you tried setting iPhone up as new? I was having several different problems. Someone on the forum suggested this. It has been okay so far...

I had done a clean install of 8.1 but that was with the previous router. Do you think doing another clean install now that I have the new router might help?

No way to know for sure until you try! I set us as new first time and again second time and not by restoring a backup.. I started everything new, no apps, no music.. I tested phone before adding any apps...
Keep us posted if you try this!

I started having WiFi issues on my iPad 3 and tried several of the plans seen here, nothing worked, so I thought I would have to do a factory reboot, thought I put it off to the next day, iPad WiFi working fine, go figure!

In case anyone missed it.

Go into router and use a wpa which allows you to choose aes+tkip, probably wpa auto or personal. Change from AES only to AES+TKIP. Reset network settings on phone, and it very well might solve your issue.

Thanks for the info.!

This does appear to help! It's not 100% resolved, but I would say 90% fixed with this change.

Update on my story:

Continuing to work with the Genius Bar. We are logging all WiFi issues as well as locations in a note for documentation. I'm on my 4th replacement, my wife is on her 3rd. We should know this week what approach they plan to take to resolve this, but no guarantees beyond another swap yet.

To anybody still monitoring this - Wi-Fi issue is absolutely tragic at the moment on my 5S (pretty much unusable) and I can't be chowed to keep resetting network settings/re-enter all my network IDs. The fixes kindly provided by everybody do work intermittently but there's nothing long-term.

I think we can say with some certainty that the Wi-Fi issue on 8.1 is happening to enough people that it is 100% Apple's problem.

It's hard to see from here what the common denominator is, though. I have no problems with either of my iPhone 6es, either of my iPads or my Touch. That includes my home wifi, work wifi and public access wifi.

Did you try changing the encryption type on the router from AES to AES+TKIP? I was pulling my hair out until I did that. I also found 2.4ghz is more stable than 5ghz (after the encryption change)

I did indeed. Tried multiple combinations of everything mentioned in this thread. Stuff seems to work for a few days at most, then reverts to being *******.

I really appreciate your suggestion by the way, and to everybody so far who has contributed fixes.

I changed the router's wireless channel on the 5 ghz band from auto to 149. Haven't had any slowdowns since.

I went to the wifi setting in the phone and changed DNS in DHCP settings to google 8.8.8.8 and it was back again.
