I agree with the poster above... It doesn't really affect the functionality of the cover.
On a side note, WOW... I am amazed at how much dirt and stains this thing has gathered just in over a week. I'm so GLAD i got it, because i know that all that crap is staying off my keyboard!!!
so i'm still loving it!!

PS> no marks on screen yet!!

can you let it stay on the keys even if you close the macbook or it is too big? Are there any sharpy edge on it (like the borders) that could damage the screen?

Yes, you can still close it without any gaps. My screen is still scratch free and the corners of the edge are rounded so no sharp edges.

As for the oil stain, you cant escape from that no matter what you used. Oil will build up over time and the only way you can prevent that is to wipe the CG before closing or use a thin cloth overlaying the keyboard before closing.

I find that wiping CG is much easier compare to the silicon counterpart as it does not have much surface friction.

Wow I love the moshi I wish i had known about it. I received my new 15 inch umbp yesterday but it's still boxed up and unopened as I am waiting for my iskin protouch (sonic) to be delivered on Friday

My last MBP (early 2006) model died two weeks ago from an entire cup of tea being spilled over it >< sugar, hot tea and milk poured out of every port and whilst having a blonde moment I tried turning it on (big mistake)

I got it replaced by my accidental home insurance cover and now I have read about shiny keys and wearing of the new UMBP keyboard I plan on not using my new notebook until I have adequate protection from spills and oily fingers

Typing this all out on my iPhone is a chore but I think protection from my clumsiness is worth waiting for. Hopefully on Friday I can finally unbox my UMBP!

I know this is an old thread but I think it's important to protect our expensive machines, take precautions and learn from the mistakes of others and never drink around electronics

Thankfully I back my data up each night onto externals so I didn't have to pay for data recovery

I think I will buy the moshi guard too as it looks so much thinner compared to the iskin

Man, you are stronger than me!!! :p I would've dove into that sucker ASAP!!

Let us know how your iSkin works... A lot of people use it, but personally I just don't like how thick and grippy it is.

LOL trust me I am dying to open it and set it up I am not a patient person so it's hard to wait

The macstore in the uk screwed up my order for the iskin so I cancelled it and ordered the moshi instead. I preferred the moshi clearguard to the iskin due to having an iskin before they are too thick and hard to clean.

I am still waiting to unbox my mac, but knowing I am a clutz is keeping me patient enough to wait

It's good Friday in the uk so cancom should post my moshi on Tuesday, I'll post some pics once I have everything up and running

how does the keyboard guard stay on the keys .. does it clip in or something ??

also is the palmguard worth it as well ?

It just sits on the keys like a regular keyboard cover.

And the palmguard is awesome! I own both and definitely recommend them.

I so not recommend it because of the sticker glue. It's unremivable after applying it.

uhm not so much... it doesn't leave any residue behind.

LOL devils advocate? No chance, I'm on the other side re: signature

This is actually good for me, I lack patience on a grand scale and I have had time to go for walks, read books instead of being on my mac 24/7

Once I open it I am sure I'll be back to being a hermit :)

Lol.. sadly, i know EXACTLY what you mean!!

I destroyed mine trying to clean it. After a three weeks it became very opaque and couldn't be washed clear again. I also felt it was way to hard to type with compared to the naked keyboard. I find now that its gone I enjoy typing large blocks of text again. It was thin and it was almost worth it, but the computer just looks and handles too much better without it, so now i just wipe down my keys nightly.

I've lightly washed mine a couple of times. I haven't tried scrubbing it with anything, just warm water and hand soap. Agreed, it didn't come out as clear as new, but I don't care. Once I've seen how much crap it keeps out of my keyboard, i'm a fan! :)

And YES, the typing is a little different with the clearguard on, but it's definitely better than any other skin, in my opinion. It's just something I choose to live with.

thanks I didn't know that:)

Honestly, i hate stickers because once you stick to it, you cannot freely remove it after. Once removed, the sticker lose it's stickiness and dust get sticked instead. Also, it's non washable.

Aluminum MacBooks are resistant to effects of grease, scratches, smudges, and color-fade that accrete over time compared the white plastic MacBooks.

The PalmGuard was good for the old generation plastic MacBooks... but not anymore. You don't need a PlamGuard... use a microfiber cloth instead.

The Clearguard on the other hand is very good because it's removable, washable, it fit the keys easily and it protect your plastic keys against grease, scratches, smudges, and color-fade that accrete over time.

What I disliked about the iskin is the thickness and how hard you have to press on it to type.

It also started to go yellow after a while, discolouring is the worst.

The clearguard looks so thin, light and from what others say, it's easier to clean. The iskin was difficult to clean as every dust particle seemed to stick to it and no matter how much you ran it under water you couldn't shift the dirt.

The moshi clearguard looks transparent and nice , you wouldn't even know it was there

I have the Clearguard on for casual typing. However, when I need to type lots and fast, I remove it.

IT does affect typing a little, but the least compared to other protectors.

The Moshi Clearguard is available on the Apple online store but is it also available in the retail stores?

how do people here clean there clearguard? i can't get the fingerprints of mine properly.

It's very difficult to clean compared to other keyboard protectors I've had. It gets some kind of weird film that is hard to remove. I use soap and warm water and then a micro cloth to get rid of some of that whitish stuff, but it still doesn't really do the job.

Also, I was very excited about using it at first, but have to say that it does really impact the feel of the keyboard, making it less comfortable to type on. I'm considering removing it and just going with the naked keys....they're meant to be used, after all!

what i have been doing so far is use those for cleaning dishes & a soft toothbrush.

it didn't damage my moshi clearguard and also keep it very clean.
of course don't brush it hard

dont mean to revive an old thread, but figured id ask those who have been using the moshi cleargaurd has it been effective? do the black keys still get wear or shine to them after removing the cleargaurd?
thinking of getting one soon.
