A few things for me, especially when my old Nokia 5800 could do a few but the IP4 cant, lol

*) Txt Messages NOT showing time stamp everytime i recieve or send a txt - why not include this so simple, APPLE lol

*) Converting songs just for them to work as ringtones

*) not being able to have custom SMS tones (but doesn't really bother me)

*) Txt messages always showing name of person when txt is recieved -really annoying so people can see who the text is from

*) when the IP4 is locked why can you still access the IPod

thats all for now folks

Plus this is my 1st Iphone anyway, so not a whol hearted apple fanboy or dislike them just a bit annoyed with the small problems

I don't understand the multitasking. I've never had a phone with it, though [first iPhone was my first smart phone].

Why does it keep EVERYTHING open? I don't understand keeping things like settings, and SMS, etc... open. Maybe it's because I'm still so used to just closing everything anyway.

I'd prefer some sort of short cut for a full close.

Lots of annoyances, though it might be just that I haven't figured out how to solve them yet. Also, this is my first iPhone, so I don't know if these problems were in previous iterations or not --

* The fact that the phone will wake itself up from sleep to inform me of a call. My old phone used to let me set times for it to automatically turn off and then back on. Very handy, and when the phone was off, it was OFF. Now I'm being woken up from my very important real-life sleep so that my phone, which should itself be sleeping, can tell me that someone's calling me. If I wanted to receive calls, my phone wouldn't be sleeping!

* The inseparability of date formats and telephone number formats. When you tell the phone what country you're in (so that it can format phone numbers correctly), it also makes you format dates in that language. It looks pretty silly in my case, where the menus are in English but the dates, including names of months and weekdays, are in Japanese. I could switch that to UK or US, but then my phone numbers would be formatted wrong. I can't decide which is uglier.

* Relative dates (like "Thursday and (worse still) "yesterday") in my e-mail history. How do I get rid of them?

* The fact that the phone locks itself whenever it goes to sleep. When I wake it up, I want to use the phone right away, not awkwardly push my finger across that silly slider again and again

Coming from blackberry, I miss not having different signature for my different email addresses. I'm still trying to figure out one for both business and personal.

Nothing stays open. In fact, EVERYTHING closes. There are only a few things that will continue to function when you exit out of an app.

The app switcher that you bring up with a double home click is not a task manager. It is not a list of things that are open. It is a list of recently used applications. Keep in mind that just because an app is in that list, it doesn't mean that it's actually doing anything.

As we say, these are annoyances, I love the phone. But coming from a blackberry, a few things:

1) Not being able to scroll. If I notice a typo that I've written earlier in my text, sometimes it's impossible to tap to the proper place to edit mid-word. I find myself deleting a LOT of text sometimes to fix one letter. Same thing with adding a bookmark. If the beginning is off the screen, I can't get to it without deleting the whole thing.

2) Hold down a letter for quick caps. Apple added the double-space for a period shortcut, they should add this, too.

3) Not just being able to use any song for a ringtone. Obviously this is intentional to make profit, but still. Even with the free options, I have to pre-plan. With my blackberry I can just change instantly to any song I have.

And, as other people have mentioned, lack of flexibility around sound vs. vibrate, dumb text auto-corrects, etc.

No full A2DP support via bluetooth.

If they ever unlock that I'll be a happy camper.

Also no Wifi syncing (yet?)

I'll add another- the inability to delete individual RECEIVED or MISSED calls. There are times when I miss calls due to being in a meeting or whatever else and I'll receive a ton of calls. I use the MISSED CALLS list to remind me which people I need to call back. I'd like to be able to remove the individual calls I've already returned and leave the ones I still need to return on the list. No way to do this. As it is now, you have to either leave the entire list or delete the entire list. It's a simple feature really, another one that dumb phones have had forever.

this is done by your explanation for #2.. holding down your finger to zoom in on a letter within a word.

Sweet! Thank you!

See, that's why people like Apple, they fix things really quickly! :D

hey, glad you can use that to your benefit. apple had this implemented as far as i can remember though.

I wish we could create profiles in regards to the ring and text tones. One for sleeping, one for work, etc. This is probably the thing I miss most about my blackberry. Custom text tones would be nice- I agree it's just stupid at this point that they have not been added to since the beginning.

I'm pretty damn content with the iPhone 4 and iOS 4 but when it comes to Apple, it's always those little, seemingly obvious things that keeps the experience from being 100% awesome. Sadly Apple feels like we are too stupid to be given the freedom to add more customization to our phones. If I was a simple user and didn't want to make profiles or have more SMS tones- then I would just stick to the default settings.

This deserves to be on a petition, to be signed and submitted to Jobs. I mean, as many others have observed, some of these little things were options on the Nokia candy bar phones I started out with 10 years ago. It's insulting that they're not available on something as advanced as the iPhone.

OMG - The iPhone is perfect now!

Thanks for the info. I swear I've looked high and low for this exact thing. It's either very new or I fail. either way, I installed it and it works great.

2) Hold down a letter for quick caps. Apple added the double-space for a period shortcut, they should add this, too.

What I do is tap and hold the shift key, then without letting go I swipe to the capital letter I want. It works rather well. If you want it to stay caps, just double-tap the shift key

No full A2DP support via bluetooth.

I heard about this feature being in the 4.1 beta. So, it should be coming pretty soon. I'm also excited for this feature because my car stereo has bluetooth audio capabilities.

Wow! So much annoyances! I guess iPhone isn´t the "jesus phone" after all or anymore.

Here´s more:

These things are so basic and no brainers so that all the phones have them... except of course iPhone!

-Delete recent calls one by one (can only delete them all)

-Delete all voice memos at once (can only delete one by one, major pain)

-Delete all pictures at once (can only be deleted by clicking every single photo and then pressing the delete button)

Now here comes the biggest issue. Much bigger even than the antenna issue. I can´t believe no one has complained about this!

-Phone ear speaker volume is way too low

I mean my grandmother can´t heart a thing with iPhone 4, but with her old rusty Nokia she hears just fine, which is much louder as it should be. I have a perfect hearing and it´s very difficult even for me to hear the other person, especially when I´m sitting on a bus or somewhere with background noise. I always have to shout to my friends "what? What? WHAT!? Please speak up!" It´s really embarrassing in public places and even more embarrassing that my friends are getting ammunition to bash my new iPhone! :(:p:apple:

So what is Apple thinking? Why can´t they get the basic things right?

I was at a store today and got a text message with the "glass" tone and 4 other people whipped out their iphones to check too:D

Ah yes, they're everywhere, the dime a dozen iPhone.

The annoyance that I find most bothersome is the rather diminutive size and small display.

Oh sure it's great for the ladies, but I prefer the more masculine size of my Droid X.

Give me a break with your "masculine" comments. A phone is a phone. I don't want to carry that brick of a Droid in my pockets. If you do, that's great. But not everyone needs (or wants) a phone as large as the Droid X. If that's what you gauge your masculinity on, that's pretty sad.

The biggest annoyance I have with iOS is the lack of a good dashboard. While the lock screen has the time, I would also like to see my list of up coming appointments, any missed calls (in a more organized way other than the standard pop up we get now), the weather forecast, FB updates, etc. While it would be nice if it was a widget like item, a static item would be fine. I know if you JB, there is something like this, but I wish it would come stock in iOS.
