The Cube, or Titanium PowerBook. Both were ridiculously sexy for their time, and even today.

I certainly thought the iMac G4 was and still is one of the most unique designs for a computer, but I was never THAT impressed with it.

iMac G3 all the way, apple wouldn't be where it is now without it and nor would Jonathon Ive. It was the first of beautiful designs of any computer let alone a mac.

Sorry for being frank, but this poll is a mess! you forgot all pre G3 powerPC with the 601, 603 and 604 processors, then the first G3 in the case of the previous 7600-8600.
PowerBook 5300 was a PowerPC, the beautiful PB 1400, the Kanga was the first G3 PowerBook.
Start fron scratch!

yes but there would be too many options on the poll, the pre metal Powerbooks did look ok but they weren't as striking in design as the TiPowerbook for example. The pre G3 macs were just beige boxes there is nothing interesting in terms of design about them.

The last Powerbook made was a metal one. There isn't anything after it that wasn't made of metal. Some iconic and nice looking pre-iMac G3 designed include the 20th Anniversary Macintosh, the G3 all-in-one, and if course the G3 Powerbooks.

yes i know i ment pre not post.

True but not by that much (colour and front panel). The shape was basically the same if im not mistaken.

You have somewhat of a point with the B&W G3 and G4 towers but a beige PowerMac G3 looks nothing like any of them. The minitower looks like a shorter 8600/9600 and the desktop (horizontal) looks like the 7600.

The painted G4 in my sig looks better than all of them IMO. It's one of a kind so I would pic mine with it's car paint as the most beautiful.

That is a great looking computer! One of the best I've ever seen.

Hate to say it....but when the day comes that its no longer useful for Daily Driving...what will you do with it? It'd be a shame to let that case go to waste, transplant a newer Mac/PC Into it?

I have 2 spare Sawtooth in addition to the 2 in my sig. and plan to buy another 1-2. The case will be running G4 hardware forever. Since I co-exist in OpenBSD also it will be years till it won't do what I want. Worst that will happen is it becomes a file server only.

Personally, I love the G5 tower's design (and I am lucky enough to own one Dual 2.0GHz in excellent condition). I like it even more than current Pros.
IMO, Aluminum PowerBook G4s have the second most beautiful design of all PPC's, therefore I gave my vote to both. Now I am looking for a 1.67GHz 15" PowerBook G4 in a decent state to extend my collection.

But for what it's worth, I don't share your G3 enthusiasm. Whatever G3 iMacs and Clamshells meant for the future of Apple, I don't like them.

Power Mac G5 as tower, also iMac G4 definately, specially for it's time of release. All PowerBooks are amazing too imo. Compare 2001 laptops to Apple's 2001 PowerBook, you will be amazed.

No option for eMac? :( That was my favorite design lol, I guess the Powerbook G4 is a close second.

Yes, where's the eMac love? :( I absolutely adore mine, I think it's probably the best design Apple ever had. Clean and simple but bold.

And as has been pointed out, that poll is missing a ton of models, but I suppose we're just voting from 1998 onward. :p I ended up picking the iBook G4, it's definitely a very nice looking machine.

Hands down, the 20" iMac G4 is the prettiest computer ever made.

I am considering getting one as a kitchen computer. For recipes, morning email and news, and some Hulu streaming. Can it handle Hulu?

Most reliable? PowerMac G4s
Most coveted? Cube
Most notable? Powerbook G4
Most ground breaking? PowerMac G5

Arguably the most beautiful, but the one that really put Ive, and Apple on the map as the best computer makers entering into the 21st century?

The PowerPC G4 based, iMac. For me it was the 20" flavor, which I am still looking for. All I can seem to find are 17" models.

The Cube wasn't there so:

I voted for the G3 iMac. I don't remember being that excited over the introduction of a new computer line before or after. Didn't actually buy one until after the slot loads came out. Here's one in the left of the picture:

There's a G4 PowerMac in that picture; it was a workhorse for a long time but unlike the G4 iMac beautiful it was not.

Here are a couple more I was/am fond of, a white G3 iBook and a G4 PowerBook, the latter of which I still possess:

Never owned or lusted after a G5, went straight to a Core 2 Duo from the two G4s.

The Power Mac G4 Cube with its matching display, keyboard, mouse, and tennis balls speakers was a gorgeous set up.

The iMac G4 was the most practical, beautiful, desktop computer. Just a touch and you could configure the screen perfectly. Ergonomically much better than the current generation.

Nice! I've been waiting for a possibility to praise your painted G4 without looking like a stalking idiot. It really is sweet as... something sweet, maybe a fruit of some kind. Like mango.

/me puts on asbestos suit

I've allways thought the Cube the ugliest Mac of them all, but all the other candy-crap aren't far behind (Clamshell-iBooks,NewWorld-G3,Sawtooth and not to forget those brain#### known as G3-iMacs)

G4-Quicksilver and MDD were o.k., the G4-iMac in it's rare 20" version (the proportions between screen and base are just way of on the smaller version) is just about bearable.

White iBooks and metal PBs look good, but not really amazing, G5-towers are just as not-ugly as one can get with a tower case and the Mini would have looked so much better if it wasn't for that miscoulored (or is it miscolored :p ) top.

The G5-iMacs (specially the 20" iSight) are just gorgeous and I like mine even more than the current aluminium iMacs.
