Are Geometry Wars and Plants vs Zombies good pick up and play games?

I haven't played Zombies either, Geometry Wars is definitely a pick-up-and-play game. I have a 5 year old and a 1 year old, so my gaming time is limited and GW is the perfect solution... :)

Are your babies enjoying the loads of kids games/apps that are out for the iPad? Also, I saw this video of a small child using the Wiimote on a snesiphone game on the iPad. YouTube Link

Btw, can we embed YT videos?

I have only been loading free games to check out, but thanks to you all I will have to spend a couple hundred dollars to see what all the fuss is about. :D

Anyway, here are four games that I keep going back to over and over. While they may not really show off the iPad graphics, they aren't bad. And better yet, they are very playable.

Cluck It! (this is probably the best looking of the ones listed. Much like frogger but with better graphics)

Doons HD (I was addicted to this game and played to level 17 in one sitting)

Godfinger (graphics are rather plain, but reminds me of the old Black/White game)

New York 3D Roller Coaster (this was brought up by someone else earlier but they didn't have the name handy)

I will say one thing. I am a bit disappointed in the lack of playable demos for most games. I have a Droid phone, and it seems like every application has a useable demo that is limited in some way, but at least you can try before you buy. Thats not a slam on Apple or iTunes, more so on the developers.

im tempted to try GW, but i can't see myself paying $10

see, there is a case where if they had provided a one level playable demo, people would probably be buying this app like crazy.

I was the same way - I had just dropped money for NFS Shift and Scrabble and didn't want to shell out more cash for a game I wasn't sure if I would play very much. The videos looks cool and the reviews were good, but I just wasn't sold on it. I finally got tired of constantly going back and forth and bought it... now it is my go-to game on the iPad....

I believe it was already mentioned a couple of times, but how about Call of Duty: Zombies? It's fun and just like the console version. It impresses everyone I show it to, they did a really good job with the ipad version.
