Well does not help with staged release and virtually no Ai in Europe :-(
This is not about Apple intelligence only. Other more unbiased tech sites report that this disinterest extends to all smartphone AI platforms. And at the end of course the author of this piece starts predicting the demise of Apple using “reports” and “studies” showing brand loyalty collapsing. Yawn.

I find the writing tools useful. The Cleanup Photos feature works well then I ran into its Safety feature. All the rest of the AI features, I either turned off or fall into the category of games.

We could apply the same stats to AI in general. Great as a research tool, not a necessity in a new purchase. Apple went the best way I feel by making most things local. It means that if they find most users are not using PCC they can wind down online services but keep core functionality without spending a dime on the backend and laugh all the way to the bank whilst OpenAI, X, Meta and Google burn piles of money trying to compete in a race with no audience.

agree 100%, WHO CARES! give us more settings to customize and macOs on ipad!
One day people are going to stop banging on about MacOS on an iPad.
.... today obviously isn't that day.

NO to MacOS on an iPad. it's not needed on there. Buy a MacBook. Stop trying to shoehorn an OS from one machine onto another where it has no business being!

Well, its not much in there so I can understand. They need to update Siri to interact the same way as Gemini Live, or ChatGPT, otherwise its just some gimmicks here and there but not really useful as such

The best thing Apple could do regarding Siri, apart from a major upgrade in usefulness, is change its name. Whenever I hear of "Siri integration" I'm left filled with dread.

The features are just not really "in your face" like if I wasn't actively looking for it or bothered to search online, I wouldn't even know it existed besides maybe Image Playground, since this obviously adds another App to the Home Screen.

I also don't really have a need for "text suggestions" since my messages are mainly "lol" or "hahaha" or "what are you up to later?" kind of content. Same with Notification Summary. I have notifications turned off for most of my Apps anyway and for those that remain, the notifications are already so short, what is there to summarize.

Image Playground was funny for a hot minute but it's so awful at getting most people looking remotely alike, I did not really bother to try it anymore. Somehow it works perfectly for some people, but not at all for others.

I enabled the ChatGPT add on but I have yet to use it which only shows that I dont really use Siri in the first place I guess.

It just stinks.
Make cool emojis and doing simply photo edits isn't going to cut it.
I asked siri to turn on hotspot...can't.

I LOVE their focus on privacy but this half baked Chat GPT integration isn't working.
I AM getting a new iphone but for the camera button and usbc....that is it.

After upgrading iOS and participating in the AI program, it interferes with how my smarthome automations work. It now behaves slightly different with voice commands. Siri speaks a different voice now without me making the change to a different voice. Automations like lighting based on time/events sometimes just don't work.

The emoji generation is fun, purely because my other half thinks it's cute when it's a golden retriver (we have 2). Otherwise I'm probably going to switch it off.

Siri still can't sweitch my front door light on or of, saying that I need to download the app. So I still need to go into the home app (the apple one) to switch it on or off

I think Apple is dumb when a year old phone, my 15 Pro, does not have one of the major Apple Intelligence features, visual intelligence, and it is not on my M2 MacBook Air either.
Expect this to continue. Apple will add software and hardware limited features to drive device upgrades. They are hoping AI can add some new juice to device sales.

Will that materialize? Too early to say.

But expect them to treat it like camera updates. They almost never add camera updates to existing phones. Even when those updates are all software they limit them to new models to entice photographers to upgrade.

This is how I feel, specifically with Apple Intelligence. I’m not overly interested on AI in general.

I will say that I had AI (Apple Intelligence) re-write an email that I sent. It didn’t do a bad job, but it’s not like I was blown away with it.
Ai is pretty complex thing and wide similarry to system itself. No one is using all system functions or camera functions. How many people is using time lapse, slow motion...?

So we can not expect everyone will be hyped. I use voice/video transcription a lot. On device and server based as well. Object isolation in photo rarely but do. It is all pre iOS 18 function. There is many functions in video/image anipulation apps. Coders works with chatgpt and other tools intense.
But AI is still in its infancy but hyped. It will settle in a year. Ability to call for any app functions and natural talking Siri will be first milestone where we will be able to say whether it is really usefull for regular use. That are my 2c.

Society in general seemed to have never wanted ai in the first place, its the companies who think they can insist on it. Same thing with EV cars.

Meanwhile the company I work for (biggest hospital in the state) has a blanket ban on using AI on company computers, or on the company network. The domains are blacklisted.

Too much chance for HIPAA violations and errors.
AI learns through data, so using AI on your workflow with an outsourced LLM (chat GPT, Gemini etc) is essentially giving away data. I remember Samsung gave away some trade secrets with processor firmware a few years ago.

I'm not using "Apple Intelligence," and won't be using it, because it's powered by ChatGPT, and ChatGPT has repeatedly been found to offer some pretty off-the-wall answers.

I do use AI, however: X's Grok. I use it on a regular basis. I hardly ever use a search engine anymore.
The irony of this comment is peak Grok user energy. Thanks for the laugh. 🤣

It’s not powered by ChatGPT, GPT is just an option for when you are asking for something that Apple’s AI can’t handle. And you can turn off the Chat GPT extension if you want.

These features are different than things like a camera. When going from a regular phone to a smart phone, having a camera on your phone was something that you used all the time instantly. The wind is blowing this direction, and people will start to use them more and more in their personal and work use cases, both as the features expand, and as they’re available for longer, people will adopt them.

There are probably a fair number of users who have installed 18.2 but because of the age of their phone cannot use the AI features (I am still quite happy with my 2nd Gen SE). I have always found Siri to be useless so improving it with Chat GPT integration is hardly a value-added proposition for me,

It’s not available on my iPhone 14 anyway, and I’m not upset about that rather just sick of hearing about it constantly as nothing about it appeals to me. I don’t even have it enabled on my iPad Pro.
Apple has wasted a lot of time, money and effort on something best case no one cares about, worst case are extremely wary of.

Interesting but not surprising that it mentioned that Apple is losing brand loyalty especially since they haven't changed the iphone since the 12. That's a long time to stay with the same design and the 17's are supposed to again have the same design just with a different camera layout which means it will be the same tired flat sided phone yet again. I miss the days when every 2 to 3 years we would get an all different design.
