There used to be a reward for turning in lost phones. I guess people starting stealing phones for the reward though. The world is a depressing place, at least the people in it.

Your mom is a thief... she found an expensive item that can easily be brought to a Verizon store but refuses. If she found jewelry that is almost impossible to find the correct owner it'd be a moral dilemma but this is a no brainer.

SMH @ anyone believing this BS story.

It's pretty obvious that the "mother" is none other than the OP himself.

It seems like with each passing day, there are fewer and fewer good people remaining in society. Damn shame.

If no one calls it just keep it honestly, I know way too many people working at stores and they always tell me how they get free phone because some id*ot turned it in and since no one comes to claim they just keep it them selves or sell it off on eBay. All you guys bashing his mother for "claiming ownership" well the good ol rule says "Finders Keepers". I my self once back in 2005 returned a phone to some guy that dropped it at a gas station as I took me about 5 minutes to fill up my car, He called it and I let him pick it up from my house and guess what? the guy was such a D*ck about it. He complained that why I didn't leave it there. I was like wtf....

For future finders if you find something and no one claims it within reasonable timeframe then just keep and don't stress about it honestly because I bet majority of you will just keep it and not even think about returning it but sure will bash anyone that does find something.

btw me not going out on a limb to return something that belonged to someone else wouldn't make me a bad person, If i tried one way or another its good enough and people honestly are over dramatic about situations like this...I read a similar one about macbook pro's on this forum where OP found one in the snow, not sure how much of it was true but people immediately started to bash him to run to the authorities and what not.

His mother(or him self) kept the iPhone on for days and no one called....thats not his fault

If I found something expensive like a cell phone I would turn it over to the police as found property and a report is made out. Have done so before. Or simply turn it in at Verizon. Keeping it is theft.

No possible way for it to work on At&t

Just unlock the phone. The 4S is a universal model as the antenna in the phone supports both GSM and CDMA. That's why the Verizon model also includes a removable SIM card.

Yes I know the iPhone 4S is a world phone and has both GSM and CDMA but I don't think it's as easy as you think it is. I haven't heard of anyone using an At&t unlocked 4S on Verizon and vise versa.

If I lost my iPhone, I would call it for the first 24-48 hrs without question. How could you not once call the phone that you lost. It doesn't make sense.

This is absolutely not true.

My daughter lost her Verizon phone at school, and it was tuned into the carrier, who contacted me (the account holder) and informed us she could reclaim her phone at the local office.

The phone was locked. They had to restore it before they could contact us. They definitely went out of their way to return the phone.

The student who found it did not even leave their name so we could thank them.

Funny how some kid at your daughters school is more honest then TS mom! If my relitive tried this I just refuse to help unless I was helping them get it to the rightful owner.

Just use an unlocker, get the SIM, and set the profile. It's easier than you think. It has the same radio in it for CDMA and GSM, You just gotta tell it wether to use the CDMA or GSM radio.

Easy to say but I haven't heard anyone doing it. So until I see reports of it happening then i'll believe it.

See that's funny thinking it was me I HAVE an iPhone 4s on ATT and my mother had a dumb phone on AT&T she found it while she was working (to clarify she works at a beach in the parks department) I could careless If you believe me your just some guy in the interwebs, I however did not find the phone nor do I care enough to find its ower cause there careless. My mother works 7 days a week she also doesnt have time to find people all day she didn't even know how to turn it on. P.s siri was off and I'm assuming find my iPhone is off as well a few txts came in some saying somthing about a party and other txts asking if they wanted to buy weed. Call her a thief all you want everyone acts like they are all saints on these boards but 99% are not. In the end I still sleep at night

Yep, one in every group... I found something so it's mine.... sometimes it sucks to be part of the human race.

If you're dumb enough to lose a 600 dollar phone maybe you don't deserve to have one. Get owned son. Lesson to be learned, take care of your sht.

So basically you have a stolen iPhone, and are asking for yourself on how to unlock it for your own personal use instead of doing the right thing, and returning it to a Verizon store. No help here.

So 5 years ago we found this dog out in the middle of the rain. We took it him in and fed him and kept him warm. We put up signs and took him to the SPCA to see if he was chipped. No dice. After 10 days we adopted him ourselves. This threads logic is that I now possess a stolen dog.

Not at all. You tried everything u could to return that dog.

if the person does nothing to try and find their own phone (calling it and txting it) then that's not my problem. careless person is careless. sounds like they dont care enough. if any one of you lost your phones and didn't call it well you are all morons, if the phone was turned off thats fine this phone has not been off, like i said only texts were about someone wanting to sell drugs.
