may have a mid range price but far from mid range. How can you not pick this up?
Oh and it's confirmed for T mobile

Just picking one up is different from selling an HTC One for it. If I was in the market for a new smartphone, I'd likely pick it up.

But I already own an HTC One, so I have to consider the gains/losses from going from the One to the MX.

Awfully tempted, though. Would pocket some cash too since I could probably sell the Dev Edition with 64GBs for a pretty hefty price.

Nevermind, just a mini-rant that would've led to no good. Nothing to see here...;)

Are there any solid rumors about the Moto X being in the Play Store? I had heard that it'd be sold unlocked through Google before; any more information on that front?

The only thing I have heard is from that Leo guy that is under NDA. He hints it will be in the play store. I posted the link with the time earlier in the thread but here is the link again. Its a good watch if you haven't. http://m.androidauthority.com/moto-x-leo-laporte-245348/

But if you meant other than this then no I haven't seen anything.

I read that they can't release news until 3pm eastern time.

The actual event will be for the press from 8am-1pm.

Forgot where I read this.

Were getting closer.

Thanks. I have a busy morning Thursday and don't want to miss preorders :)

Actually, I looked at the event invite and it says 8pm to 1am. It is a party event it appears.

Seems tempting. I wonder if I'll lose anything if I decide to get this to replace my S III since it's positioned as a mid-range device.

Debating if this is worth selling my high end HTC One Dev Edition for.

It's a mid-ranger, but the fact that it's so close to stock and will likely get updates from Google far sooner than from HTC...

Hm.

Why don't you install the GED for HTC ONE? Problem solved, wait do the Dev Edition have it yet? They should soon.

The reason the blue pixel is bigger then the others generally is that the blue pixels degrade faster and lose there brightness so they have to be bigger to compensate. The pixel arrangement on the Note 2 was really good alot better then the GS3 anyway.

Ah....interesting, when I first saw the sub-pix arrangement I was like, "WTF why?" This makes sense. Thank you.

I'm weighing this against the upcoming Nexus 5 (lg g2)

I'm worried about it's size. I don't see any real contenders against the moto x at its size. I would choose it over the mini gs4 and mini one, that's about it right?

I see the g2 is LCD, likely a similar experience to the iPhone, which I'm used too.

Yes, yes, yes. I am basically on my knees praying it isn't LG again, don't get me wrong N4 was quite good, I love mine, but, the way LG are going right know, it wont be as good. Hopefully n5 will be Moto or HTC, but rumors suggest otherwise :( The N4 was also LCD IPS (like iPhone 5) And I hope N5 is 5" MAXIMUM! I don't want a 5.2" Nexus phone, maybe a phablet Nexus and a Phone Nexus if they really have to give us a bigger than average phone.
:(

You sure that pic is real? It has the X font from NeXus but with a center.

Is it confirmed that the Moto X is shipping with android 4.2.2 and will not have instant updates like the nexus line?

Yea I hear you - it seems all but confirmed that the N5 will be the LG G2 w/ 5.2" LCD. I'm leaning towards the Moto X at this point. I'm not a huge phone gamer (pc is more fun), so I don't know that I'd notice the better processor in the N5. I think I'll take the extra features and more ideal size for me in the hopefully less battery chomping Moto X.

Google has influence on Motorola, and if you look at their recent products last and this year, a lot of them look like AOSP. I'm confident that the X will get 4.3 and 5.0, maybe not as fast as the Nexus line but that's just my opinion. I think Google is trying to help make Motorola a "role model" in the android industry.

I've been following the Moto X project very carefully, and the more I read the better I like it. Also a huge proponent of variety, choices and competition, I'm hoping that Motorola really knocks this one out of the park... :)

Mid range or not. It's what it _does_ that matter's to me, not what it has on the spec sheet. (within reason)

If it's even close to what I've learned about it ... especially most recently, I'm a buyer.

Very eager to see reviews and to get the official info on things like updates, price, whether it'll be in the Play Store or not, etc.

When is it expected to go on sale? End of August would be a while away...

I think the rumors pointed to the end of august.

I believe the pic is real, but the information about the event is strange. I think onthecouchagain is right when he spoke earlier in the thread. Information will released to the media earlier in the day and they will be embargoed to release that information until 3pm (EST?). However, there is an event party scheduled for 8pm-1am, so it sounds like we may know about the device earlier in the day on Thursday.

"Back on July 19th, Motorola announced that it would be holding a press event to introduce the Motorola Moto X. The concept is for the wholly owned Google subsidiary to hold five separate sessions with different groups of the press, with information embargoed until 3pm. Motorola originally promised "No Stage. No Crowds". But a new invitation from the wholly owned Google subsidiary is telling a different story.

It seems that Motorola is planning on holding an event after the media sessions that starts at 8pm on August 1st and runs until 1am, apropos for the City that never sleeps."
