Watched a YouTube review last night comparing the phone to the HTC One.

The camera is even worse than the HTC one... Very very bad colours and dull images. Even video recording was worst.

So not interested.

If that doesn't get you excited, I don't know what will.

I've just about talking myself into buying one. Even though I don't like the oversaturated colors of AMOLED screens, it just looks so comfortable to hold, and I can see myself using the touchless controls all of the time.

I wonder if the voice control works when it's in a pocket.

One reviewer said it worked 15 feet away.

I think I'd get a lot of use out of the handsfree operation as well but it doesn't work if you have any sort of lockscreen security enabled. So I can either have access to the features but leave my device unsecure or use some basic security and eliminate the best aspects of the device. :(

I guess I could configure some NFC tags to use to disable security when I'm home or in the car but, still have to remember to use them every time.

LG G2 is what us techies want in terms of specs. The moto x is aimed for grandma and grandpa iphone users who could care less.

What's wrong with AMOLED screens? You're likely not to do any serious photo editing on a phone. I'd be more concerned with colour accuracy of a computer screen.

apparently there are reports that the phone is sold to ATT for $350

I'm afraid to get excited about any off-contract price less than typical flagship from Google or Moto direct.

The article spins it like it will be $350 off contract. I don't see that happening unless it come directly from Google/Moto. I haven't seen any indication of it being sold in the Play Store as is, unless Google drops the price significantly for the GE. But then again that would piss off HTC and Samsung and Google has stated on many occasions it won't give Moto any special treatment. Just shows the ridiculous stranglehold US wireless carriers have... damn shame. I was looking forward to a midrange market at a reasonable cost and good software

That just means att pays $350 for the phone. I think they already said it is $579 contract free from the carriers.

I prefer the color saturation of LCDs. I like seeing the colors that the designer used when designing an app, making a photo, editing a movie, etc. But one of the things that has bothered me most about AMOLED is Pentile, and at least that is fixed now. All of the reviews say this screen has a pink tint to it, and that concerns me too. I wish that they had at least added the ability to change saturation. Samsung does it now, and Nokia adds the ability to change both white point and color saturation in their new Windows phone Amber update on Lumias.

The Droid Mini has all of the same features as the Moto X, but it has an LCD screen. So, I'll have to compare the two and see which feels better in the hand. The Moto X looks more comfortable to me.

Not all LCDs are perfect. I returned the Nexus 4 because I didn't like its LCD screen, and I didn't want to mess with rooting and using a custom kernel just to fix the colors.

Just came across this update/rumor regarding launch date and AT&T exclusivity for MotoMaker. While I'm warming up to the device, I still think they are royally f&%#ing up the launch. They will be butting up against the upcoming Nexus (not as big a deal, IMO) but more importantly, right after the launch of the next iPhone. Coupled with no international release, big mistake.

I am pretty sure the launch date is the end of this month or early next month which puts it at least a full month before the iphone 5

Sorry, I was focusing on the availability of MotoMaker for all carriers, which is now rumored to be November. Considering this is one of the cornerstone features of the Moto X, my fear is it will just get lost behind the typical iPhone onslaught that occurs for a few months after its release, especially considering it looks like the new iPhone 5C will also come in a variety of colors.

Still a chance the Moto X will be sold very affordably on Play Store. AND will keep it's Moto X features:

Interesting.

Can't see it happening unless sales are poor of MotoX

However what I suspect is likely is that the next nexus of by Moto will be almost identical hardware wise (lose customisation etc..) and software wise and will be priced $350 for 8gb version

There is no way Google would be silly to have the Moto X on their store for the expected $499 - $549 kind of price range, only to have Motorola supply the next Nexus with similar or better specs for substantially less $$$ unless we get some pretty heavy trade offs this year.

Who knows what's what at this point but Taylor wimberly said that the next nexus by Motorola would not be based off the moto x.

MotoMaker has been up and running for a few hours (for me), though you can't purchase anything (yet) without a Moto X card from a retail store.

Yeah, saw that and messed around with it for a short while. What caught my attention was the splash screen when you first go to the Moto X page showing a Developer Edition coming soon. Who knows when coming soon actually is but I want no part of carrier branded phones if I can help it so I'll be keeping an eye for updates on that.

I'm really interested in knowing whether the edge to edge display will cause accidental death palm touches. It happens on my One every now and then when in one handed use. Wonder how the MX will fare.

I might pick one of these up later today. I saw the off contract price through my work would be $579. So if i can get that price at a AT&T retail store i will pick one up today. I will let you guys know and post a mini review. But if the camera is not as good as my S4 then it will go back........but I want to see for myself......
