I got to play with a Moto X today and i really like it! The device feels solid.
But the way it's being released, that's going to kill the device along with a price that's a bit too high.

I am still getting all the options worked out so please be patient. But here are some pictures from the MotoX and GS4

MotoX first:

I played with a moto x today at a local AT&T store. Came away very much impressed.

The size is great. The backs felt premium.

I was most concerned about the screen but it looked really good. I hate AMOLED screens but this one actually has better whites and looked great. The only thing I did notice was when scrolling the text blurred. It doesn't do this on LCD as much. Not a big deal.

The most impressive thing however, was the performance. I tried my hardest to create some stutter or lag or anything. Opened a lot of apps and switched between them tested pinch and zoom camera(wrist gesture worked well) and everything. I tried for about 10 minutes to bog it down with no such luck. Very impressive. If this holds up them good job Moto.

So you have to prove you are a developer and it will not have a warranty, WTF

that is smart wording on their part. I am almost certain these things are still made in china, and the custom backs are just slapped on in the US (assembled)

We in Canada are also getting the Moto X. However, all those who have purchased it here so far have their phones showing that it was made in China.

I just went to att and played with one. It felt a little smoother than the N4 and the form factor is great. I actually really liked the way the display looked. The camera was easy to launch using the wrist flip and the shutter was speedy. I really hope the next nexus is based off this phone. If not, I will definitely get the moto x. It feels just like stock on steroids.

I got to mess with a Moto X yesterday in my store and if I either had eh money or an upgrade I am really tempted as much as I love my iPhone.

Based off these impressions... interesting rising again.

I really hope they offer more than just black front white back option for the dev edition. And more importantly, I wonder what the pricing will be...

The more I use this phone the more I like it. The battery life is amazing. I have been tweaking it and playing around with the voice recognition software. The battery have no doubt with last more than a day for my use patterns.
Google went all in for the user experience and so far they have done a great job. I am impressed. It just might replace my S4.

Put it this way. I took my nexus 4 and the moto x and HTC one and played with them all. The Moto X felt the smoothest of them all. It really is a great phone. I was looking at the HTC mini and I could make that stutter very easy.

Looks like you can see the difference between the S4 and the Moto X camera pretty clearly. If you just use the camera for casual use, I guess it would be okay.

I want one :( I can't have one :( :(

How do you find it size wise Jamezr, does it feel very comfortable in the hand.

I'm the same, even though I have the HTC One I really want to have a play around with a Moto X for an extended period.

I could always get one when I'm in the US at the end of the year, but would get no LTE here at home. Sorely tempting.

It was the most comfortable phone I have held. It literally seems like the perfect size.

Damn !!!

Finding a carrier unlocked one is the tricky part too.

Seriously Google & Moto get your **** together and release the phone here. If we're good enough to allow you to escape paying big corporate taxes in the USA with our little emerald tax haven - then give us the opportunity to buy the goddamn phone! ;)

Pretty cool.

I think I'm going to wait until year's end regardless. That way I can have my choosing potentially between MX Dev edition / MX Google Play edition / Nexus 4 (2013) / Nexus 5.

I'm fairly happy with my One and can see myself using it until 2014's flagships start rolling out. Of course, I say that now... ;)

If that's the case then there is even less excuse for not releasing it in Europe.

Google you drive me mad !

I think waiting for the next nexus is the most logical thing... At least I keep telling myself that.

This makes me think that an extremely similar phone will be released in Europe. The Canadian market (roughly 1/10th that of the US) could easily have been served by the US assembly facilities. So why tool up in China for the Moto X solely for the Canadian market? It does not make sense.

The made in USA is only for phones bought in the states

Weird. I wonder why they would not just build all the North American phones at the US plant.

Built in the US is actually a selling point for me. I am happy to support Apple, but I have been very concerned about the work conditions at the Foxconn factories. Buying Android wouldn't have helped much here before, because almost all Android phones are made by Foxconn or similar Chinese contractors. I'd feel better supporting a company and product line that doesn't contribute to worker abuse.
