Sadly, there are dumber people out there who can't tell the difference and will believe they've seen the real thing and cast incorrect judgements bssed of it.
Including a bunch of the posts in this very topic. e.g.:

Wow, that is butt ugly. I thought Apple was the cutting edge of style in their products. lol!!

Makes me want to take my 69 Mustang GT and do infinite doughnuts in the parking lot in front of 1 infinite loop. Then drop off a picture book of all popular cars ever made to help them get some better ideas. lol!!

Yes, "lol" indeed. Very "lol".

Anyway, people seem to be focussing on the ugliness of the exterior and missing how utterly nonsensical the interior is.

Apple didn't design this. Some dope over at Motor Trend designed this as an exercise in pure speculation. Then MT misled people by using wording that made it sound like they had some sort of exclusive.

Holy fright... that's awful!

It won't look this ugly, but the base model will come with 16 mile range. :D

and for an extra $50k, you can bump it up to 64 miles. 128 miles for an extra $100k. And, by version 4 or 5, they'll introduce 'our best version yet' with extended 256 mile range, at the unbelievable same price as last-years 128 mile range model. And, we're dropping the 16 mile model, now starting at 32 miles, with a new SE model (still 16 mile) and without that display in the side panel.

This has to be one of the worst mockups I have ever seen. It even has antenna bands! Because Apple product have those, right?

My favorite is the display in driver's left-hand arm rest. LOL
I'd probably laugh more if this weren't classic "industrial designer" student cheesy... but it's pretty typical.

I own an iMac, Macbook Air, iPad Air, iPod touch, iPhones, Apple Watches and Apple TV, but there is nothing in me excited about an Apple Car. I'll stick with the two Model 3s I stood in line for.

No kidding, I'm all for competition and such. But, when it comes to something I'm risking my life in, I think I'd rather have a rocket scientist on the job than a computer company, Apple or Microsoft. (Especially given the current trajectory of Apple software.... oh, you wanted it to actually stop for deer as well as cows? We'll get to that in a version or two.)

These mock-ups are all horrible jokes. The design work would be led by Jony Ive, so strong influences based on Bentley, Aston-Martin, etc.

All they have to do is go look at the cars that the designer who has go/no go say on the car has been willing to buy.

They are making these horrible concepts to get clicks, and I refuse to reward them.

Made me think of this one..

This could be one of the ugliest car's ever...

I think that people here are not getting the idea of a "concept car". Please look at "concept cars" of car companies - they are all ugly, designed to look "22nd century" and never make to the roads. Concept cars are "techology presentation" not a "beta version" of the car version they actually want to sell.

And yes this one is ugly it looks like Apple Mouse.

That video was 30 minutes of wild speculation by people who clearly have no idea what Apple is or isn't doing, and presenting it as more of an analysis of their own opinions than anything else.

They may as well have each taken a turn in saying "I don't have a clue, and my guesses are based on watching Minority Report once".

Unbelievable.

Has anyone considered that these cars could be used for the new Campus? They spoke about the parking issue and encouraging cycling and the rest.. surely this could be a couple of solutions for Apple? Taxi services in and around the Campus, during a commute etc? I'm probably far off the ball, but it sort of makes sense doesn't it?

Could you please stop posting ****** concepts, mockups and designfarts of unfit hobby industrial designers?

that thing is so bad.
Whoever rendered that, if you think that's the kind of design Ive would ok, you're fairly out of touch.

I believe we'll see something closer to an Aston Martin / Tesla'ish design rather than this fugly contraption.
And what's with Carplay on the driver side door panel?

I went back and looked at the pics again. It is so so bad it doesn't even remotely make sense other than it has tires.

Tesla's cars don't look especially radical - just like nice vaguely sporty luxury cars. You could say they are 'pretty but boring' in terms of lines.

I feel Apple will not want to make something that looks like any old car firm could have designed it. They'll want to redefine the car far more than Tesla have done. But therein lies the danger: Make something perceived as too odd-looking, too much of a departure from the the familiar 'car', and buyers may be put off.

Not to split hairs but FYI the first iPhone announcement preceded launch by 6 months. Watch was 6.5 months, iPad was 2-3. Only established, updated products get the "order now, available in a week and a half" treatment.

You're right though, a car would need to be revealed far in advance. If nothing else, manufacturing them would be impossible to hide.

Yeah, but this requires lead time that's very uncharacteristic for Apple... when was the last time they announced a product more than 6 months in advance? Have they ever since Steve returned?

Talk about spreading yourself thin and not focusing. Literally the exact opposite of what Steve Jobs did at Apple. Apple is not longer synonymous with 'it just works', not feeling a car from them.

To to clear up any doubt, before they announced iPhone, I was completely positive and knew they'd make something great. They did. Same with iPad. Can't say the same for their Watch or car.

This is a 'concept' design from Motor Trend (a car magazine), not a concept design from Apple, much less an *actual* design from Apple.

that is the ugliest thing ever.
although if you look at the google car... all that money and they cant even make a semi descent looking vehicle?

Again. This 'concept' design was made by Motor Trend. Not Apple.

I've seen people destroying their computers and iPhones as a test...what's next? Destroying their car? Smashing into someone else's car to see how strong it is? To see how bendable the car is? Hack able car? Protection case needed? Rose gold car? Data usage car?

Is this the same guy that designed the Aztek?

Yea, that *is* pretty bad, but still far better.

Tesla's designer came from Mazda, and you can see the influence if you look closely. It's radical because it's the first successful EV attempt, not because it looks so great. It looks nice, and I'm glad it does, but it's looks aren't anything special. I'd agree with others in the thread that I'd look to Ive's car-styling preferences combined with some of the work he's done for Apple. I think the latter is what this hack went for, but I think Ive is smart enough to realize it's a car, not a mouse.

EARTH TO TIM COOK.....JUST BUY TESLA.!!!

I doubt it's for sale (and given recent Apple, I'd really hate to see Apple screw Tesla up!). Musk is a man on a mission. While I'm sure he's not completely unconcerned by the cash, I don't think he's worried about pumping up the value and selling.
