I know this has nothing to do with Apple, but this design represents everything that is wrong with the automotive industry and if they think Apple was hoping to disrupt the market then this would be the wrong way to do it.

People that think EV has to look funky and like it was ripped out of the future is why this market has failed to captivate a large audience and why Tesla will walk in with the Model 3 and clean up.

Everyone from Motor Trend should be ashamed for releasing this idea to the public, it is a joke and epic fail of any form of industrial design fantasy. All they have done is ensure that if there is an Apple Car, it will look nothing like this. Maybe its a form of reverse psychology, showing Apple everything they DON'T want in the iCar.

Of course this highlights the fact there are few mindless lemming twits that would buy this just because it has an Apple logo on it, as a few comments have already suggested.

The taillights need to be one consolidated line of red dotted Apple logos, then they've got it. To go with the Apple logos on the front back and all four wheels. Needs more logos.

So when does Apple announce WWDC dates? Should be any day now, yes?

this thing is awful. As a designer, as a driver, as a human being...no matter how do you look at it, this is completely atrocious. It is really hard to make it uglier

I think I'll wait for version 2. :)

I see what they we're getting at... they just forgot one thing... Apple designs tend to look very good along with all the other things.

Let me guess. Only option is glossy?

Apple wasting their time with car. I would not trust their software with my life, unless I had a back up. And I don't think Time Machine is all that integrated.

It'd certainly come in rose gold right?

It won't look this ugly, but the base model will come with 16 mile range. :D

Hmmm, apparently no headphone port on this model, either.

This is all fine and good, but will I need a battery case to make sure I can get 50 miles per charge?

I bet it still has a 5,400 rpm drive

Will it use USB-C or a Smart Connector?

I love the antenna bands! All it needs is protruding camera lights and 16mph limitation on base model.

look at those huge bezels on the windows!

Make it thinner...

Where is the headphone jack?

The headphone jack is on the bottom. Duh.

That is the car equivalent of this 2007 iPhone mockup.

Exactly. If the car had been expected in 2006, speculation would have featured click-wheel steering.

Whatever the car looks like when it is revealed, I can be pretty sure of a few things:

It won't be an iPod on wheels.
It won't be an iMac on wheels.
It won't be a MacBook on wheels.
It won't be an iPhone on wheels.

If you're predicting based on the features you love or hate in other Apple products, you're most likely going to miss the mark by a lot.

The designers of this just very clearly proved they should not be hired by Apple. The Apple HR department thanks them.

This is absolutely the most pointless thing I have ever seen. If anyone ever releases a car that looks like that they should be immediately fired and banished from ever designing anything ever again
