... I don't think Jobs is that shortsighted to make sub a wild claim.
Wow the iPhone 4 isn't out yet and it supposedly already getting beat.
Even the Vaio Z at 1080p isn't much more.1920x1200 in a 15.4" screen is 147 dpi. That's still less than the iPhone < 4.
At the rate that Android phones are being released, I think the days of Apple just being able to do a yearly update are over. While Android is still behind IMO, the gap has narrowed.
it really boggles me how all of these competitors try to outdo the iphone and miserably fail...it's not just about the screen or hardware, it's about the experience, the iOS and thats where others fail.
Engadget played with the Droid X prototype two days ago and said it was 854×480. They think Verizon is a little confused and mean 720p output over HDMI.

There is a point where a larger screen becomes a burden. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I use my iPhone primarily as a) a phone, b) as an iPod, and c) to check email. I don't need a larger screen if it means having to carry around a larger phone. If it starts to get too big to carry in my pocket comfortably, I may as well get a small, cheap flip-phone and an iPad.
Correct.
The "720p" screen is apparently some marketing bullsh*t.
Regardless, this will be my next phone...
My best friend has one of the phones with a 4.3" screen and has told me he hates it because it's too bulky. How in the world can you comfortably fit something that huge in any pocket besides a cargo short? I can fit my iPhone in any pocket. At some point it just gets ridiculous (bigger is not always better)....and bulky
What's with phone's having HDMI outputs now-a-days? Seems like such a useless feature to me.
Why they don't add "Fugly" as a feature?, they could sell a lot more phones if they explicitly say it.
"The New Droid X : More ugliness per inch".
While I kind of agree. All I hear from my co-workers who just bought an android phone are, "WTF, they just released a newer android phone that's better than mine after I just bought my (insert android phone here) last month?!"![]()
High dpi displays aren't some magical technology. I still remember 1920 x 1200 on a 15.4" Latitude. Next up, Sony.
