Ok that sounds good, but again most people are on the go and the fact that video chat cant be used over 3g is pathetic, regardless what carrier it is on it can be on all the carriers but if you cant video chat over your service what is even the point of having it as it a feature when you wont use it 85% of the time

seems like all this cell phone makers are WAYYYYY ahead of every single wireless carrier

Jailbreak + 3g unrestrictor ;)

But watch your data usage if you got the new data plan.

yet to u apple toting the retina display - u go gaga for it!

You are very bias

are u kidding me u fanboy?

How great would it be to show up with a movie or tv show u downloaded from iTunes and play it on a large plasma or LCD? Yah sounds pretty useless to me fanboy!

Oh wait! When apple releases it's own hdmi out on their iPhone you will love it! Don't forget fanboys didn't think MMS or video recording was needed now look at where we are

ya, and how much memory is a 1080p movie, last time i checked it was about 20 gb, so if ur phone can only hold 32 gb that leaves no room for apps and music, so yes pointless until they start making phones with more capacity

Competition is good.

Keep fighting for our business. The wireless market is very fluid. Look how many people switched carries to get the original iPhone which was way behind in basic features.

Now we need Verizon to get the iPhone so AT&T & Verizon can fight for our business.

Competition is good.

The average person could careless about the specs.

Sorry, that's totally incorrect. Unless you're trying to shift the entire electronic marketing paradigm...

Too many examples to list. Megapixels, Gigahertz, battery life, resolution, size, weight, people definitely do care about specs.

I think these are both true to some degree. People do care about things that are tangible like battery life, camera resolution, etc. but probably don't care about jargon like AMOLED or Snapdragon.

Yawn! Here we go again.
Verizon not Moto is behind this. Besides, Verizon is going to loose as well as the consumer. why? Because the consumers on the droid side are trying to keep up with every little tech bit that the cell phone guys can come up with. In effect they're spending way more money trying to stay on the cutting edge of a product that they buy essentially for its initial hype.
They buy one droid phone and in less than 3 week there is another droid phone.
Now Verizon has to sale this new Droid X just weeks after they went gaga over the incredible.
And this sh** is never ending. The HTC EVO, the Incredible and now the Droid X are all out there to squash the iphone. Ha ha!!!!

At the rate that Android phones are being released, I think the days of Apple just being able to do a yearly update are over. While Android is still behind IMO, the gap has narrowed.

I don't think apple will change the way it does things, apple is not afraid of anyone! A new android phone comes out everyday! Plus too many people would be pissed if they released more than 1 iPhone per year!

Not to mention the Droid has no valuable resource (iTunes store) to legally deliver HD movies to the phone! They might be able to plug into the TV, but what are you going to watch?

That leaves 12 GB, which is plenty for apps and music for some people.

Just because it's not enough for you, it doesn't mean it's not enough for everybody.

It's NOT going to have a 1280x720 display folks!! And no matter the hardware, it still runs android (it's like the mac vs pc argument). Use what you like.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

Well well, if it isn't the latest android flavor of the month.

I don't think apple can, will, or should try to compete with android phone release cycles. These guys change a few specs, slap a new name on, and release it as a new product every few months. And you're getting that from htc, moto, samsung, etc.

Once a year is fine for the iPhone. People who want iOS, iTunes integration, and the apple brand aren't going to leave because moto bumps a few specs and slaps on an "x."

These guys really don't have anything more original than ripping off HAL from 2001 and ripping off a Lucas trademark?

That's what they find to be acceptable?

Can't give it its own appearance and name?

This would certainly put a dagger in Steve's statement of the iPhone "Setting the standard for the next few years".

Good job Droid!

Um, "setting the standard" means establishing the baseline that competitors will want to meet or exceed. So iPhone 4 sets the standard, and Droid races to catch up, which is exactly what Jobs said.

Funny that

I read an earlier post with someone bitching about AT&T. I was just in the US (from Norway) for the WWDC and I had no problems in San Francisco for the 10 days I was there with either my iPhone 3GS or iPad 3G. I had no dropped calls anywhere in the City, and my data connection was actually the only thing that saved my ass at Moscone West with the WiFi polluted by MiFi base stations. I have had similar experience in Dallas when visiting my parents.

So really, I wonder if people are just talking out their ass. I have had service with enough carriers to know they all suck in their own special way, but they all provide about the same level of service.

+1. Apple doesn't give a rats A** how anyone does anything. I promise you, Jobs and Co. care less about market share, how many they sell, etc. All they care about it putting out the best product. They don't care if other people use it, they sleep well knowing they sell the best, and use the best.

We've been doing it for years with the Mac. It might never be number one, but everyone who has a Mac knows sometimes being in the minority is just fine.

With the iPhone, people just understood it was the best phone, and therefore had people flocking to it. Apple has never produced products with the best specs, ever. Remember the days when Apple was selling computers in megahertz when every PC was in the gigahertz. THEY DON'T CARE. Their products just work and that's all that matters.

Hell, I'd almost prefer to go back to the days when all things Apple were only enjoyed by a minority.

Mighty Mouse, iPhone and iOS are 3 trademarks that Apple ripped off other companies.

There is a point where a larger screen becomes a burden. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I use my iPhone primarily as a) a phone, b) as an iPod, and c) to check email. I don't need a larger screen if it means having to carry around a larger phone. If it starts to get too big to carry in my pocket comfortably, I may as well get a small, cheap flip-phone and an iPad.

Second..

seems like its just as useless as a front facing camera on an iphone that you will barely use, and in order to use it you MSUT be on wifi and other person must have an iphone 4. that seems pretty useless given the fact that wifi isn't every place you go and if your home a normal person will just use a computer

For now that's true. AT&T could at some point support Facetime over 3G.

On the other hand, I might die of old age first.

Still worth having and I want to see how it plays out with industry support as a open standard.
