For those complaining about Apple working with Moto and not the other cell phone manufacturers. Moto was the only one who wanted to work with Apple. Nokia has pretty much linked themselves with Microsoft. They signed a deal with Microsoft shortly after the Moto/Apple deal was announced. If you're waiting for Sony-Ericcson to have an iTunes phone, then you'll be waiting a long long time. Well, at least until Sony cries uncle and gets rid of Sony Connect. And Samsung is too much in bed with their Napster/WMA connections to offer iTunes.

I do think the ROKR is underwhelming. But there's plenty of fault to go around. Moto should have put it on a better phone. Apple shouldn't intentionally cripple it. And Cingular (at least in the US) should have put their foot down and demanded a better phone.

Hopefully, the ROKR's apparent lack of success (I say apparent because I've read where the ROKR had pretty good sales in Europe) won't kill off future products.

For what it's worth, I'm thinking that you won't see iTunes on anything other than a Moto phone for the next couple of years.

Apple Itunes ties up with Moto sounded loud ,however turned out small.

The thing still at its primary stage and still flaws await to be solve, like wireless downloading on-the-go is quite painful a cost to pay, and the conventional look make me no attraction to buy.

The thing should be more than that, with Apple and Moto come together should hits big.

I hope Apple's working hard on this team, and bring me something really great soon. There are too many things come along with now, a blending of any fews things together would really wellcoming. Especially ,it does by Apple.

No headphone jack

and to keep the dumb ass limit of 100 songs is just dumb.

if anyone wants to make a cell phone - itunes combo work.

let people install cards with huge memory and no limit on how many individual tracks.

I want to get a treo type device with a 2 gb memory card.

I still don't think I will get one, I like the idea of an all in one, but I would rather have a phone that has a better browser like the new nokias which are being discussed today also.

Motorola Verizon Bluetooth phones have not historically had a full implementation of BlueTooth, because apparently Verizon is willing to trade customer satisfaction to prevent the "lost sale" of me making my own ring-tones.

Before anyone gets it, make sure it can do what you'd like to do. If, for example, you want to transfer your address book to your car or to your Mac, make sure they haven't disabled that function.

I wonder how come you Americans willingly take all that BS from your cellphone service providers. In Germany we are now seeing new low-cost flatrate models in the line of "get your phone where you want, then use our card". I'm sure people would ram flaming torches up the providers' rears if they tried to tell them they could not have the phone they want on their service.

And for MOTO: You sure want to hope the designers by now noticed that people have *two-part names* and have adapted the address-book accordingly, so you won't end up with the same freakin' mess you get when syncing a RAZR via iSync  forcing you to shell out for sync-software that will send surnames first.

if you guys look closer you will see that this phone is actually thinner than the RAZR, which is already really thin. So this is no not the best, and no not good enough for me to get rid of my 710a from Sony Ericsson, but it does look lightyears ahead of the ROKR.

No it's not. It's like twice as thick. What are you looking at? And the RAZR isn't very thin imho either. Just because it's a huge phone it LOOKS thin, but only in relation to it's enormous width and height. It's basically just as thin as my old nokia gsm and motorola v66.

RAZOR V3 II w/iTunes

Doing a little research when i saw the new motorola phone with itune, i will say that it does look a lot better than the ROKR, but the Second version of the popular RAZR phone will include iTunes along with what seems to be Bluetooth headphone because it does not seem to have an ear jack. Anyway Motorola has made some changes to the phone other than just adding iTunes; they have made the little M icon on the front light up, changed the color of the phone slightly, and they have also upgraded the internal memory from 5Mb to 60Mb which will be great! It's still in prototype right now, but i can buy it and do a little more research at www.wirelessimports.com.

Like the paying to receive calls as well as make them!

Wow...honestly, I was wondering when the L7 was going to start getting chatted about here...and I was quite shocked to see the announcement that it has iTunes on it! Bad and good, in a way...

But, since I'm so interested in it, I'm coming out of my lttl posting hiatus to step in and defend it.

If you read the specs, you'll actually find out that the RAZR is 13.6mm thick as opposed to the SLVR's incredible 11mm. The SLVR is longer than the RAZR at 113 compared to 98, but, they've cut down the width so that the SLVR is only 49 compared to 53. I think that's where the potential in this phone lies.

It definitely caters to a specific niche of phone users. I have ordered myself one off Amazon (should be arriving within 2 weeks! :D) because of the fact it's exactly what I've been waiting for. It won't bulge when in my pocket, it's a candybar phone, it has bluetooth and as an added bonus, there's a fun toy camera (I say toy after the justified complaints of it being VGA rather than MP) and a media player.

I am unhappy about the 100 song cap, but considering all I listen to music on the go for is quick transport around London really, that's no biggie. And I don't have any nifty Bose headphones to pop in, so the headphone thing shouldn't be too much of a big deal either ;)

The cell phone market is way hot, but also super competitive.

Whatever happened to the "Apple Phone" rumors - how about a Nano-based Apple Phone, eh? I think it would be a hit.

But in order to do it they would have to collaborate very closely with a phone manufacturer, wheras they seem to be holding Moto at arm's length.

I like the new Moto phone, but I always get the cheapest (read: free) phone available because I don't want or need any more functionality than the ability to make calls.

So...what you mean is, Apple are desperate and took anything.

Sold themselves out.

;-)

You can get the ROKR for free from Buy.com after rebate.

Being a business and all, that's pretty much what they do. ;)

This is all backwards, we dont need iPod features on cell phones. We need CELL PHONE features on iPods!

Hell yes, thats what Im waiting for!!! If apple ever comes out with its cellular service, I am SWITCHING to it IMMEDIATELY!!! Even if I have to pay the $250 fee to get out of my contract. :D

Sony Ericsson K750i

I will stick with my Sony Ericsson K750i. No it doesn't support protected music files from iTunes, but it does support the AAC MP4 files that iTunes rips to by default as well as MP3. (Probably ACTRAC3 also but who cares?)

The K750i also has an autofocus 2MP camera and can accept a Memory Stick Duo Pro up to 2GB!

You can also compress 3GP and MP4 videos and play them back on the K750i.

Hey Moto! GET WITH THE PROGRAM! You are not even close to the competition!!!

Moto is perfectly with the programme with the size of the SLVR. Mmm-hmm...the K750i is thick as a brick. I guess, as I've said before, it's just up to what features you're looking for as a phone. Someday, I'll make mucho money by starting a custom phone shop...phones built to your specifications...exactly how you want them (of course, horribly thin w/the specs of the k750i probably wouldn't be doable :p)

Haha! It looks just like the RAZR... just flattened-out.
The cameras lens housing looks the same, the back looks the same, the keypad looks the same, and the 'grills' on the back are identical.
I put some images together to show ye:

ROKR22.jpg

It's a shame (again)... the idea of an iTunes phone has all the makings for something great.
