These lawsuits are starting to damage consumer choice.

I understand that I.P has to be protected but with so much cross licensing necessary in today's mobile connected world, it would be nice if companies were able to settle this around the table other than through the courts.

Its going to be awesome when Google/Motorola make money on every Apple product sold. :p

I think it would be funny if this went through... and iPad/iPhone users in the country still outnumbered sales of Motorola devices. Because that's what would happen. People _will_ still get their hands on their iStuff.

Damn Apple stealing other peoples products/technology. Copy cats
<Use typical Mac Rumours comment whining about Samsung 'stealing' but reverse names>

Anything that apple is suing about isn't part of a standard. Motorola's patent is. If you want to make you patent a standard, you have to license it to everyone. And Motorola didn't do it.

Why are you even on this forum? @Your post&Signature.

Because immature android fanbois like to come to this forum and gloat like they personally have triumphed over something, and they're strutting like little boys on the playground. Plus, they're jerks. Unfortunately, they don't go away even if you ignore them.

Well, you can't make your patent a part of the standard, and then not allow someone to use it. This doesn't apply to Apple's lawsuits, as they are in court over design and UI patents.

So, German judges are stupid because they have granted an injunction to Motorola?

At least Apple have deep pockets to fund the licensing fees. Which will then be used to create more Android superphones.

WOOOOOHOOOO! Good job Motorola crush them!

HTC Sensation = Junk
Samsung Tablet = Junk

Why do you bother posting on a Mac/Apple forum? You seem to enjoy the low quality, non-Apple products. Go to those forums, and spout the virtues of those products...

Not a big deal. In a few months no one will be able to afford Apple products in Europe when their currency collpases.

The latest "deal" (sans Britain) is actually the bigger financial market news this morning.

No, but German law seems to have only the "nuclear option" of dealing with patent infringement. They grant product bans left and right, which is why companies seeking bans like to sue in their courts. Over time, that could give it a bad reputation for business if Manheim becomes like the courts in tiny plaintiff-friendly counties in the US.

Apple needs to hurry and drop Motorola an offer for that license (just like Samsung removed the offending animation from their photo gallery app). All these injunctions do is harm consumers, from both sides. All these patent debates are not about "blatant copies", never have been and anyone pretending so is probably so biased to one side you can easily just dismiss their arguments.

There should never have been any injunctions granted, much less asked for. Let the parties go to trial and if they are found guilty of infringement, then award damages.

As consumers, we really need to not side with any corporations in this. They are all costing us money in the end with these endless trials over their "IP" which is often found invalidated or too specific to cover the implementation by the party getting sued.

1. it's retarded how much money gets wasted on it
2. karma, they started it so they well deserve it.
3. I doubt it will hurt apple, they will simply have to pay off to Samsung quite a bit of money and apple is doing quite well right now.

Uh ? Care to point us to where it says Motorola refused to license the patent ?

This is Motorola not Samsung, although I think Samsung have 3G patents too.

Regarding 2, Apple was certainly high profile, but they certainly didn't "start" the patent wars. Companies patent inventions left and right (even those they don't intend to bring to market) for just this reason. Anyway, it isn't as if Apple doesn't settle out of court. Nokia was a great example. They have far more patents than Motorola Mobility (and more fundamental patents, as well), but settled with Apple after a fairly brief war of words.

I can't help but laugh everytime I see his signature. Some people are not mature enough to realize what they are doing, how they are acting or what they are saying.

Well, I would't call a brief war almost two years of suits and counter suits.

This is my favorite part:

in·ter·net/ˈintərˌnet/ troll /trōl/

1.Someone who gets pleasure by typing annoying/controversial/offensive words at strangers on internet forums, for them to read.

2.An obnoxious user or member on a forum that goes out of their way to make pointless, offensive, or annoying posts and messages.

3.Trolls are people who want to get on your nerves. They will usually lurk around the forums and wait for an opportunity to annoy or attack a user. The best way to ignore a troll is not to flame back, but to report and move on. Trolls are no good and should be exiled.

And my personal favourite!

4.One who intentionally posts on an internet forum to gain attention rather than contribute actual content. Some trolls may appear to contribute and may actually have meaningful posts, but the posts will be made in such a way that content is overlooked by design.Trolls generally are not successful irl and rely on the attention received on forums to support their delicate self images.

Gotta love me some urban dictionary!
