Heh, it still takes forever to load on Windows and it looks like IE 9!

I hope it is better than IE9! I visited a bunch of web sites that were totally screwed up on IE9 even though they are perfect on every other browser including IE8! I am using the release not a beta version in Windows 7 Professional 64 bit BTW.

Looks really cool. Notice how they borrowed iOS's way of grouping things (dragging a tab image over another tab image to create a tab group, just like folders in iOS), pretty cool.

Firefox 4 FTW! I couldn't care less about memory usage to be perfectly honest. I also don't understand why Chrome is so popular... but back on topic, my favorite extensions for Firefox 3.6 have either been updated for 4 or are integrated into the browser now, so double yay!

I've always stuck to Safari but have recently got annoyed with it.

My only real hate about Firefox is that it puts a silly little low-res symbol next to each bookmark in the Bookmark Toolbar which makes it look really dated and messy.

Is it possible to stop it doing this?
That's what I love about FireFox. The Fave Icon is a much easier way to look at tabs and bookmarks for me rather than to read a list.

It crashes on me for some reason. Had this problem with FF3 too. Tried deleting all Firefox/Mozilla prefs and files and re-installing. No luck. Anyone else have this problem?

Loads in about 2 seconds and it doesn't look anything like IE9. Firefox 4 still has the separate search box!

Firefox 3 would take almost 30 seconds to start without any add-ons enabled. FF4 still takes as long. I must have a different version of FF4. It looks exactly like IE 9.

Did they fix the issue with "Untrusted Site" popup windows happening all the time? This browser has been going downhill recently. Keep having to add certificates since the last update. I eventually deleted Firefox and moved to another one that has much less hassle.

It's nice and fast but not liking the heat. The last version I had installed only had my cpu temperature at around 37-41 degrees. Firefox 4 is running at a consistent 59-61 degrees Celsius.

One of my biggest gripes with Firefox has always been that google maps on macbooks doesn't work well. You can double left click to zoom in, but double right click to zoom out has never worked.

Kind of a minor nuisance, but I use gmaps all the time, and over time it's become a huge pain. Has anyone ever noticed this and solved it?

Can't wait to download it. I'm sick of Safari constantly crashing.

Try using Chrome. I used to use Safari as main browser and started using Chrome because of youtube. Safari would crash due to youtube (i think?). In order to minimize disruptions caused by restarting my main browser, I started using Chrome for youtube watching. And than I realized chrome was faster than youtube. So I started using chrome as my main browser. Another plus of chrome is that you can sync bookmarks between chrome on work/home Macs. No need to pay for service like Mobileme.

And managing bookmarks (keyboard shortcut, resort alphabetically) of Chrome is another plus.

Sucks that the built-in PDF viewer add-on for Firefox 3 does not work for this version, and I can't seem to find any alternatives yet.

Other than that, good browser, 64 bit is a nice touch, but Chrome 10 does it for me for now. That being said, if the next version of Safari is as advertised in Lion and uses Webkit 2, I'll be switching back.

This is random, but is there a way to hide the icons next to the bookmarks on the toolbar?

I'm looking in to how to do that too, it just looks so messy.

Right click the menu bar and choose Customise > Show > Text

But this also turns off the icons for Back, Forward, Home, etc.

A chrome.css hack
http://labs.stevemontano.com/?p=91

worked with FF4 beta, but the hack isn't available now (at least not in my FF4 as the chrome.css file is no longer findable!)

Apple products do not crash. You must be using it wrong.

You sound like Steve Jobs "You must be using it wrong". I agree. Safari crashes and it hangs and it sucks. I do love Apple stuff too but Safari must be their worst product.

I bet there are a lot of iPhoto 11 users that would disagree :)

Been using it since yester-evening. Definitely speedier, i'd say slightly faster than Safari but still behind Chrome and is overall more streamlined but Safari is still 'leaner' and it's integration with OS X and integrated H.264 support means it will remain my default browser.

Wow, I couldn't agree anymore... I still use Safari as my 'go to' while using Chrome for some distinct use, but I see myself slowly getting back to the Firefox days with this latest 4.0 release. I may be too early to judge, but...

Great Update!!

...after using Chrome for about a year, I really like the combined address and search bar. It's just better one basically all counts…

Chrome is just a lot more efficient with the combo address/search bar...

Firefox 4 does the same thing. ;) It is now a combined search/address bar, just like chrome. Actually it does even more because it searches your history, tabs, and bookmarks as well. Try it out. :)

Yeah I tried it out, but still prefer the Chrome implementation. It's a good step in the right direction though :) The main reason I'm sticking with Chrome as my main browser is speed.

I do not know what some of you are talking about. It is almost 50% faster than Chrome and I love Chrome.

Did someone also notice whining on 2011 Macbook Pros when using Firefox.
I hear a high frequency sound coming from beneath the left speaker/1 key when scrolling and opening new tabs in firefox.
