What the hell are you guys doing watching MTV in the first place??? *shakes head* :p

MTV is exactly the opposite of that, what happened to the moon man, the reason we all started watching MTV.. there are no music videos. Ever since the REal World started MTV has declined. They should go back to their roots and cancel all this "real" crap, yes i know we have MTV2 now which used to play less known alternative music, but now its become what MTV used to be.. kinda sad to see the channel that formed what Cable TV is today go down in flames because of horrible programming choices. "I Want My MTV" means we want music, not 16 year olds whining about not getting a Range rover, or some obnoxious idiot named Puck making a fool of himself.

MTV is the antithesis of good telvision.

Programs like this one reinforce my general misanthropy and clearly show that many people have no sense of irony, restraint or responsibility. Worse, it shows that theses "qualities" (or lack thereof) are met with at least some level of approval from a significant proportion of the general population.

In other words, people are stupid and corrupt and I hate them all, except me and whomever reads this... ;)

Exactly. Mtv stands for music television. If they want to do a bunch of shows make a new channel. If music televsion doesn't work any more, kill the channel.

OMG you guys...yes the girls are all spoiled but it is because of their GROWN up parents. I personally love the show though--it is like a crash that you cannot help but look at. And my favorite epi was the one with the girl crying over the Range Rover and crying because she flew all the way over to Paris to shop and the Dior store was CLOSED. That girl was hilarious!!!

Oh yeah and don't get me started on the BEST SHOW on MTV right now--LAGUNA BEACH is awesome!!! That is the reality show of high schools--it is all REAL!!! Some of the people at Mtv are just brillant when it comes to reality shows!

I agree, that show is rediculous... as is Cribs... just a bunch of spoiled rich brats who dont appreciate anything and will whine and complain at the first chance they get... I watched that show once... never again. its rediculous.

I was wondering how many posts it would take for someone to blame this on Bush. 11, not a record, but fairly quick. There were rich people before GWB, there will be rich people after GWB. There were spoiled brats before GWB and there will be spoiled brats after GWB. There were terrible parents before GWB and there will be terrible parents after GWB. There are spoiled children in other countries as well.

These spoiled kids and crappy parents are certainly at the top of my list for punches in the face, but Jesus Christ this has nothing to do with oil!

[snip] that part is not saying its bush's fault...its saying that the rich are getting richer and the poor poorer and why that isn't going to change...[snip] its NOT saying that its bush's fault that there are spoiled girls on MTV...

Everything i own from my car to my comp I have bought with my hard earned cash....and I am DAMN proud of it...
as far as taxing the rich that wont happen as long as we are under Bush's thumb, why would he tax the rich when he IS one of the rich!!! That is what happens when you own one of the biggest oil plots in the US and you control the oil prices ;) ANYWAY the rich get richer and the poor get poorer and the rich can fly there spoiled daughters to paris to buy a dress she will wear once, and can afford to buy then $60,000 cars for a birthday....Its a joke, MTV is a joke...
#1 - The rich are taxed
#2 - Who are you to say how they get to spend their money? We live in a country that is free. Remember that...

I saw the episode with this spoiled brat (see attached photo).

She was such a "female dog". Holy crap... i dunno why anyone would want to go to that party.

By the looks of it all the party would be about is eating.

...and for my 16th i had dinner with my friends and family. It was very fun.

I actually went to school with this girl. She goes to The Benjamin School in Jupiter, FL. She got suspended for 2 weeks for "misrepresenting" the school, and all of the kids that were on the show I know as well, which is really crazy, to see people I know on national TV. But to be fair, she's actually not like that in real life. I don't know her too well since I was two grades ahead of her, but as far as I could tell she seemed fairly nice. I believe that MTV asked her to be a bitch and whatnot, to make the show interesting. Just don't believe all of what you see on TV, especially MTV. They just want higher ratings.

Is it really? My sister is obsessesed with that show and I keep on telling her its fake.

Not to turn this thread into politics, but here's my take. Don't overtax the rich. The rich are able to get around taxes, through charities and other methods. The people who get screwed are the upper middle class, who cant afford to hire someone to avoid taxes. Money isn't just given to you. All those people have done something to earn it. It's not like it's handed to them. They earned every last penny. As for them buying stuff for their kids, that's up to them.

A kid at my school was invited to a party that is supposed to be on this MTV show. Apparently Fall Out Boy is going to be there.

edit: yes I go to a school with rich kids...

I met one of the girls who was on that show at a local high school dance and a few of my friends are in various episodes. The girl seemed nice, she was the one that had hers at the Hard Rock. I didnt talk to her about the show (Im sure shes done that too much) though, so I cant really say much about its inner workings.

Thats because it is...

I don’t believe MTV has any idea how impressionable they are and how much power they have over the young kids today. If they do, they wont air trash like this. I'm sick of seeing gangsters with their mansions and their fleet of "tricked-out" SUVS. It's very careless to expose kids who watch their channels to this kind of garbage.

Then don't watch it. Let parents decide what is best for their children. We live in a free society, remember?

Seriously, though, what I'd like to see is for MTV to admit that they are no longer interested in music videos, and just get out of that market completely. Let someone else be the place that airs music videos and nothing but.

It is not reality TV like Real World or something.. it is scripted to a point. The creators have made a fortune with this, cause it doesn't require a lot of money to make. It IS scripted though. The camera shots and dialog make you think that it is a reality show, but it's not.

I actually know how one of the producer's of the show is....she frequents the official Mariah fan club boards. Never seen the show myself, but the girl herself is...we'll let's just say she's not particularly nice.
