Yeeeeeaaaap, now seems to be a good time to break out this meme MinEderPlayz made a while ago. For clarification, I absolutely agree with you and think that this exemplifies the "it's a beta" inanity:

hahaha. That's actually really funny.

I'm all for faster animations. iOS 7, even with 7.1, still feels sluggish because of the animations. I can't interact with the OS until the animation has finished which is very frustrating and there are many apps which suffer from this. Flipboard, for example, if you pull down from the top to refresh on a section and there's no new articles, the 'no new items' animation fades in appears and I can't interact until it goes away.

So if iOS 8 has even faster animations, especially the app switcher, then I'm glad. Perhaps a video of the new speeds would be useful for those not using the beta to see it though.

The new speed is instant open rather than an animation... so they need to fix it up a bit so its smoother first but keep it quicker than before. Right now its just too fast for the animation to make any sense.

Remember the "animations are too slow" threads in iOS 7 Betas? It went on for months and months in the betas and the final product was different.

All I'm saying is it's too early to make those kind of observations considering they are most likely to change. So yes, it IS only Beta 1.

You couldn't be more wrong. Animation speeds are design choices and not bugs. Complaining about a design choice is completely valid, even when it's a beta. Most design choices are NOT reconsidered by Apple.

Also, your example is wrong because the final product (i.e. iOS 7.0 final) had exactly the same slow animation speeds as everyone was complaining about during the beta's. Speeds were increased only slightly with the release of iOS 7.1 So in retrospect, the animation speeds that people were complaining about were fixed after 9 months. How is coping with ridiculously slow animation speeds for almost a year not a valid reason for complaint?

I'll expand my previous post. There are often complaints about:
- Crashes and functionalities that don't work as they are intended, i.e. bugs
- Functionality differences that are design choices, i.e. changes

With the release of the final product, you can generally expect bugs to be resolved. However, you cannot expect (only hope) that changes that annoy you are reconsidered. Therefore changes are a completely valid reason for complaint.

It doesn't actually seem faster to me. It pauses to "load" before the animation begins. The time it takes before the multitasking screen is interactive is just as long as 7.1
