Resistance 2 and 3

Really? Maybe it’s just me but I preferred Fall of Man to both of those. 2 I found was too melodramatic (plus lack of weapon wheel and co-op Campaign was a huge turn off) and 3 was just too bloody dark. Fall of Man was perfect IMO. Anyway, to each his own so I digress.

People have covered the major must haves. I would certainly add Infamous to hose that have already been said (I don’t see it anywhere) as it’s definitely one of the more underrated games out there on PS3. I would also say L.A Noire is certainly worth taking a look at. It gets a bit annoying at points but a great game to really get immersed into.

So yeah, check those out. people might have mentioned them but I’m not sure. I was trying to bring up some that weren’t said a lot.

+20 on Resistance Fall of Man. That one was great, just rubbish thereafter.

Yep likewise I preferred the first Resistance. However now is a good time to pick them up as all 3 are being bundled together in one trilogy pack.

Regarding Infamous, I'd say skip Infamous 1 and go straight to Infamous 2. It is more or less the same game, however there are noticeable gameplay improvements.

And whilst it is very repetitive, it is also fun. Likewise Prototype 2 is similar and suffers the same problems as infamous 2, but can be just as fun in that sometimes a mindless action film is entertaining when you don't fancy watching 'The Artist'...

(I mentioned Infamous, don't worry. :))

Resistance - I too loved Fall of Man and very much enjoyed the co-op story! But when going back to it I feel it has not aged well and so I don't count it as a must have. I think the whole trilogy is absolutely wonderful so even if I'd say go for 2 and 3 first, after this discussion it's obvious that the first one is worth checking out as well. It's dirt cheap also, you can probably GET money for ordering it. ;)

This is true, maybe if I go back to play it then I'll find that I don't like it as much. I know my friend and I have beaten the entire game on every difficulty twice. Yes, that includes easy because both times we ini shed superhuman we wanted to laugh at easy so we did.

Anyway, I just don't like that 90% of shooters these days don't have Co-Op campaign and I love being able to sit down with a buddy and play a shooter with more strategy than just relying on useless allies; especially with how Resistance allies tend to die within 10 seconds. Plus I hate what they did to my lovely Auger in 2 and 3; they made it way too easy to use :(

3 I found was better because it did bring back the epic co-op campaign and the weapon wheel (screw realism, I want every gun) but the plot was iffy and the environment was way too dark for my liking, I could never see where I was going. 2 for me is a blemish on the series as far as gameplay goes. Plot I can forgive though.

Anyway, I seem to have started ranting lol. I'd say (to the OP) pick up all three just to make the decision for yourself but certainly don't skip the first one. If nothing else it will give a lot of background information on the storyline that would otherwise be missed.

Absolutely! The stories in the games are linked tightly together and the first one is vital to be able to fully understand the other two.

COD: Black Ops
COD: MW3 (I hate this game but still play it religiously for some reason....Stupid lag)
Sniper Elite V2
Grand Theft Auto
Red Dead Redemption

Red Dead Redemption!

So much fun! I only bought it a couple months back and completed it in less than a week (which is very fast for me!). I was hooked on it. I wish I had bought it when it came out. I stupidly deleted my game save! I want to just load it up so can just get on my horse and travel around. The scenery is so beautiful.

If you get it then get the GOTY edition which has Undead Nightmare. I've never been into Zombie games but this was fantastic!

Don't forget The House of the Dead 4 (PSN)!

It's a PS3 exclusive that was once only available at the arcade on an $18000+ setup.

Some other games I enjoy are:

Soulcalibur V
Time Crisis: Razing Storm (includes Razing Storm, Deadstorm Pirates, and Time Crisis 4 - all light gun arcade games that were designed for the Move. I actually prefer the DualShock 3 controller!)
Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition
Afterburner Climax (PSN)
God of War III
Uncharted 3
Resident Evil Chronicles HD Collection (PSN)
Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online Edition
Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown
Mortal Kombat

Buy every first party game that interests you, they're all great.

Stay away from multiconsole releases, they're all crap compared to the PC version.

Make sure you play MGS4, best game/best movie in the world. The last scene I was sweating like crazy, the crawling part.... you'll know which part I'm talking about. You've played HL2 I'm guessing, so MGS4 will be the ONLY shooter game in the world of console gaming that has a story which is good enough for any HL2 player, the rest all suck.

SSX
GranTurismo
Red Dead Redemption
FIFA 12
Lego Starwars :)
Dirt
Rayman Origins
COD4

Those will keep you busy for weeks and weeks

Have I or anyone else suggested Journey yet?
Played through it again last night. One of the best gaming experiences I've ever had.

Any game by thatgamecompany is amazing. I was hooked onto flower from the moment I started it until I finished it during the same sitting.
