How’s the black for finger prints.

Rough. I like it about as much as I like my black Subaru on my gravel road. ;-p

However, mine will be in a case all the time, so it doesn’t really matter.

I did want to mention that when I was driving this afternoon and the sun was coming in the car, laying on the black seat, the back of the phone looked almost navy blue. In the natural light, it absolutely didn’t look pure black.

It doesn’t matter to me in the least, but I did wanna mention it since someone asked about the color.

12 is 10% heavier than the SE, and is 2.6mm taller than the pro's you returned.

I know it’s heavier than the SE, but it’s not very noticeable, whereas I found the weight difference between the SE and 11 pro noticeable.

And the phone I was coming from before the SE was the 11, not the 11 pro. I bought and returned ONE iPhone 11 pro after selling my 11 and buying SE2. And yes, I did try to go back to an 11 again before settling on the SE and deciding to wait until the 12s released.

This phone is definitely not as big as the 11, nor is it as heavy as the 11 or the 11 pro.

At this point, I have to have something bigger than the SE because of the keyboard, but the least weight I can get because I want less weight. I think this is a good middle ground.

Coming from an SE too. Got my 12 pro this morning and been high throttle on it. Honestly don’t know if I like the size of the 12 pro. Hard to use one handed.

It’s definitely more challenging, but I was using an 11 before the SE, and this definitely doesn’t feel like that. With the Loopy case I can reach and open almost anything on the phone with one hand (the very top left corner is a stretch). I never text one handed, even with a small phone, so that’s not an issue.

I think it feels pretty good overall, and I think it’s my best option.

I’m coming from an 11 Pro. Originally ordered a 12 Pro but may go with a 12 due to the weight. How does the size of the 12 compare to the 11 Pro? Very similar?

I think it’s a little bit taller, but it weighs less, and that little bit is so noticeable in a phone. To me anyway.

It’s 2.7 mm taller, .1 mm wider, but .7 mm thinner, and weighs 16 grams less than the 11 pro.

I have the 12 Pro. So far I’m not liking the size. I HATE (with a capitol H) the fact that I’m finding I’m using the 12P 2 handed. It’s almost impossible for me to use 1 handed. I was walking the dog and my wife text me and had to stop because I couldn’t use it 1 handed. Will I get used to it? Don’t know.

I also don’t like the non comfortable pocketability of the 12P. My brother says it’s pocketable but he has a desk job. My job I’m in the go. I have work pants with a cell phone pocket and it sticks out if the pocket too much vs my SE 2020 and feels heavy in the pocket. Also sticks out of my jeans back pocket.

On the other hand battery life and watching media is a lot better. I watch lots of media on my iPhone.

The biggest issue I have with my SE 2020 was / is battery life. And it’s obvious a larger phone will have better battery life.

Also I always wanted an 8 / SE 2020 with full screen in same form factor. The 12 Mini is actually going to be a smaller form factor but with a larger screen than the SE 2020. I’m not going to pre order the mini until I see it hands on.

I think I’m leaning towards the mini however I’m concerned about battery life. I used my SE 2020 a lot in work for different battery draining applications and always have to have a portable power bank with me and a cig charger in my work vehicle. During my work day believe it or not in 8 hours my SE 2020 goes down to 20% battery at least 2x before I even get home. Yea I’m using my iPhones heavy throttle probably more than most.

Yeah the pro is probably a noticeable difference in weight. I definitely notice an ounce of weight difference in the phones. I realize that’s really nothing, but you can definitely feel it. That’s why I went with the 12, even though the price difference at that point (bumping to 128) was getting close. Going to a 12 from SE was a .56 ounce weight difference, whereas going to a 12 pro would’ve been 1.44 ounces difference, almost exactly the same difference as the 11 pro, which I had already tried, and knew it felt too heavy.

I think because there’s such a little difference between the SE and the 12, along with the size of the 12 distributing the weight differently, it’s not noticeable. The size is of course, but I have never used any phone completely one handed anyway - I always use two hands to text unless I’m just doing a one word response or something. It’s probably part of the reason trying to text on the SE was difficult for me. With a Loopy case, I can do almost anything else with one hand anyway - it’s so much easier to reach with that loop on there versus something like a pop socket.

I love the longer battery life, but I miss how quickly the battery charges. It throws me off when I pick up my phone and it’s only charged like 20% more.

I love the idea of the mini for sure. It’s gonna be such a great little phone. I just knew I had to rule it out based on my experience with the SE. I still think the 11 pro in aluminum would likely be my perfect size/weight phone, but that’ll likely never happen so here I am. ;-p

Why didn’t you consider the 11P before you got the 12?

It’s not really the weight that’s an issue. I rest my iPhone on my pinky shelf and when I do it with the 12P I can’t move my thumb around the screen like I can with the 8.

Why didn’t you consider the 11P before you got the 12?

I did. It was a great size, but just really heavy feeling, and pricey. I don’t really need to additional camera features, and don’t like the weight of the stainless, so I didn’t feel like it was a wise purchase, but I loved the size - it was a nice middle ground between the SE and my 11.

I do feel the 12 is pretty close. It does have the little extra height, but the lighter weight is nice - it’s definitely closer in weight to the SE than to the 11 pro.

Ok after using the 12P heavy I’m starting to get used to the size. What’s impressing me is the battery life vs the SE 2020. It’s like night and day.

What’s bugging me and you and others have posted is this 12P is so darn heavy. My brother has the 12P and his son has the 12 and he said the weight isn’t that noticeable.

You should try the 12, honestly coming from the 11P, night and day difference. I put the 12 in my pockets and doesn’t even weigh it down.

Yea most likely the 12 is noticeable. I’ll gives this 12P to my wife.

Incoming from an SE 2020 and the 12P is 1.5 oz heavier.

The 12 is .5 oz heavier than the SE2020

Well I don’t have the 12p to compare, but I can compare to the 11, and the SE, and I’ve had the 11p. The 12 is definitely closer to the weight of the SE than the 11 or 11p.

Holding them I can say it really probably isn’t very noticeable. I mean it’s only an ounce after all. It’s just holding it up in bed or something to read on for any length of time, or just in your hand for a while. It has a more dense, solid feel that you notice, or at least I do, but I’m looking for that maybe because I want a lighter phone.

I agree. Screen size wasn’t too much for a big deal for me but the weight was a dealbreaker. Glad you are happy with it! Now, may look into a loopy case one of these days lol

I’ll have to handle the 12.

I’m jumping from an SE2020 to a 12P and the 12P is 1.5 oz heavier. Our son also has an SE2020 and I asked him if he was getting one and let him handle it. His first impression was ‘wow this is really heavy.’ He was getting ready to play basketball and out the 12P in his basketball shorts and said it felt like a brick.

I had my work pants with cell phone pocket and it felt heavy.

Jumping from an SE2020 to a 12 is .50 oz which is a lot lighter than the 1.5 oz from SE2020 to 12P.

That’s how I felt, which is one reason I didn’t even try the 12p. The 12 definitely closer in weight to the SE, and I think because it’s longer, it’s distributed differently and doesn’t really have a noticeably different feel weight-wise.

I agree. It’s heavy. I am enjoying the size though.

I’m still debating between the 12 and the 12 mini. For now, I’m gonna stay on the SE 2020 for a few more weeks until the Mini is released and I can hold the phone.

At this point I’m not 100% sure I’m going to leave the SE yet. I’m just not entirely sure.

I was waiting for the mini too. Then after a couple of days of using the 12P I’m getting used to the size.

What’s impressive is the battery life vs the SE2020. I’m a extremely heavy user and have been constantly streaming and doing other stuff on cellular for the last couple of hours and I’m at 74% battery! I would probably be at 40% tops battery on my SE2020. That’s a big difference.

Battery life is one thing that makes me have reservations on the 12 mini. The battery is not that much bigger than what is in the iPhone SE 2020. I’m sure it will have better battery life than the SE, but how much better.

This makes me lean more towards going for a 12 or 12 Pro. Though I truly do love the iPhone SE.
