I’m still debating between the 12 and the 12 mini. For now, I’m gonna stay on the SE 2020 for a few more weeks until the Mini is released and I can hold the phone.

At this point I’m not 100% sure I’m going to leave the SE yet. I’m just not entirely sure.

Truthfully, if it weren’t for not being able to type on the SE2020, I doubt I would’ve made a change. That’s a great little phone, and yes, this 12 holds a charge for a long time. I’m at 34% after charging yesterday morning, and using it quite a bit, but that SE charges to 100% in no time compared to how long it takes the 12 to charge. I had forgotten about those phones taking so much longer to get to a full charge.

Yes, a bigger screen is nicer, especially considering the phone isn’t really much heavier.

The only other big positive, for me, is the camera. It does take really great pics. I haven’t done much with it, but the ones I have taken have been so crisp/clear, and of course you can use portrait mode on pets/objects instead of just people (I do like portrait mode).

The 12 is great - don’t get me wrong - just not sure I would’ve made the change from the SE had I not been struggling so much with the keyboard size.

Battery life is one thing that makes me have reservations on the 12 mini. The battery is not that much bigger than what is in the iPhone SE 2020. I’m sure it will have better battery life than the SE, but how much better.

This makes me lean more towards going for a 12 or 12 Pro. Though I truly do love the iPhone SE.

From my experience so far as an SE2020 user the battery on the 12P is so much better it’s not even in the same league. This is one aspect that’s making me stay with this 12P or the 12. Not even thinking about the mini anymore.

Oh it’s definitely a lot better. It is weird to pick it up after an hour of charging though and it only be at like 30-40% vs that SE being at 100. I’ll have to get used to charging it overnight for sure, so I’m not constantly having to unplug it when it’s half charged.

I bought a 18w fast charging brick and it charges very fast. I went from 10% to 100% in about an hour

Are you charging regular lightning?

I’m confident the Mini will have 75-85% of the battery life of the 12. 100% guaranteed.

Get the fast charger. 11 Pro goes from 0 to 50% in 30 mins and 0 to 100% in 110 mins.

I pre-ordered a Loopy case, but it isn’t gonna ship til November 7th. I have a clear case coming from Amazon in a couple days.

I definitely will get a screen protector, but can’t believe I forgot to order one. I’m gonna see if I have something here for another phone that’ll work half-a** til I can find one.
Congrats on the phone. If you’re in a pinch for a screen protector, Walmart is a great solution. The “Onn” single screen protector is sold there for $4.88. One of, if not the cheapest individual screen protector price you’ll find in a store.

If I run out or forget to buy a pack from Amazon I always run there and it holds me over until the others come. Great quality for the price.

My 18w fast chargers USB C charged my 12P from 10% to 100% in about and hour.

I’m really happy with the ESR screen protectors on Amazon. Easy install and looks great. You get 3 in a pack and next day delivery with Amazon Prime.

Been streaming constant for the last 4 hours on cellular not WiFi at full brightness and other heavy apps.

100% to 54%! This battery is a beast.

On my SE2020 I would be at 20%.

I’m enjoying the size and weight of the 12 Pro. Everyone’s opinion will be different and will be influenced by the device they are coming from.

I’m coming from an 8+ with a bulky case to a 12 Pro with a slim case. I had a 21% decrease in weight which has been extremely noticeable. I’m super happy with my upgrade.

At the most the mini might have 25% better battery life than the SE2020 because of the larger battery. But for my type of usage it still won’t work.

I’ve been going heavy full throttle not on WiFi for the last 4 hours. I started at 100% battery on my 12P. I’m now at 54%!

I know for a fact on my SE2020 with the same heavy full throttle usage I would be at 20% battery.

The 12 has a 2815 vs 12 mini 2227 that’s 25% of the battery of the 12.

So I would most likely be at 40% with the mini vs 54% with the 12.

So for my case the 12 is better for me because it will last a full 8 hour work day. I wouldn’t have to charge it before I left work and can fast charge when I get home and have it fully charged to 100% in about an hour

It doesn’t work that way.

Yep - that’s the one I wound up picking up. I’m looking forward to getting one that is edge to edge, and I think the one I ordered has no cutout for the notch, but this one is good in the meantime.

Took some pics comparing it to my SE in case anyone is curious. Definitely bigger, but honestly, not a very noticeable difference in weight at all.

Yes! Welcome to the club!

I’m pleased you managed to get one. Its so light compared to my previous phone and can actually hold it comfortably. Its a breath of fresh air and the camera is really good so far!

Using my iPad charger.

I did a test today. I was at 7% amd charged with my new 18w fast charge with USB c It took an hour to get to 87% and an hour and a 20 minutes to 100%.

So looks like about an hour to get to 80% on 18w fast charge with USB c.

Not slow at all like you said. Maybe it’s your iPad brick. Are you using USB c?

no it’s from an iPad Air 3

@ssledoux how are you getting on with your new phone?

Lol struggling a little. There are things I REALLY love about it, and things I really miss about the SE2. Right now I just need to decide which things are priorities.

Loves - display (size and appearance), camera, and overall weight for the size, keyboard on zoom is nice and big

Not so much love - flat edges (much prefer the curved), not as easy to use one-handed - it’s possible, but reaching that upper left corner is tough, as is swiping down from top right, and truthfully, I really like touch ID, although I know I’ll get used to Face ID again. Swiping up never brings up my apps to close on the first try - I never seem to get just the right spot. That was an issue on my 11 too - just couldn’t ever get it quite right. I love Touch ID for that.

And can I just say that for whatever reason, the notch irritates me more now than it used to? I have no idea why. I mean the bezels are big and obnoxious on the SE, but I guess it’s the uniformity.

So the jury is still out. I feel like even considering a mini is stupid because I’m sure the keyboard will be even smaller than the SE keyboard with the phone being smaller, so I feel like it’s this or back to SE and just continue to deal with constant fumbling when I’m trying to text.

Right now I’m leaning toward sticking with the 12, but not feeling completely content with that decision.

Look forward to hearing your experience with the mini. 😉

Lol ya know the one thing that does intrigue me about the mini is the weight, but to me the SE is such a great size (if it were only full screen it would be pretty close to perfect), I can’t really imagine going smaller. And I know the keyboard of the mini would be narrower and even more difficult to type on - no way it couldn’t be. The struggle with typing on the SE is the only reason I even got the 12, so I don’t think I can contemplate anything smaller.

Why not go back to an iPhone 11 Pro? Its weight isn’t too far off from the 12. You get the rounded edges back and a body not much bigger than the SE2020.
