Yeah, I miss my S95 :(
But I am not a professional photographer. It happens that I always thinks "ohh, if I had a camera here..." and iphone (4 or 4S) would do the job!

I have the Nikon D700 FX with an array of lenses so I only take that out when I know I want to shoot something specific. So I just use my iPhone as my daily camera. The photos are decent enough to post online. I would recommend purchasing an app that has a stabilizer feature such as Camera+. It helps to make sure that your shots are stable which makes a big difference. I know it's not even close to have image stabilization, but it is what it is.

I was thinking of getting the S95 for myself since they have dropped it down to under $300 USD. My wife currently has the Canon SD700is.

It's going to be tough to get night shots like that with the iPhone. I haven't taken any scenic shots with my 4s, just some food ones. As you will notice, it's not super sharp but decent.

Personally I'd go with the 4S, dependent on financial situation. The main gripe I had with the 4 was the hanging, and it will not get better with newer versions of iOS. You have to remember that the 4 is more like a boosted 3GS than an all new phone - the 4S is a big upgrade, no matter what the reviews say. Apple really put themselves in a bad place with the media with the 4S, only because the 4 wasn't the all new phone it was claimed to be back 18 months ago.

That said, if you are patient enough, the 4 will suffice and you will be getting the same experience, just at a slower rate. It is still a great phone. Just keep in mind that you will end up being one year behind, so the maximum amount of time the 4 will last you will be around 2 years from now, to be honest, going by Apple's previous iOS update history.

Also, I wouldn't use the camera as a comparison point. The 4S is camera is better than the 4, but I wouldn't agree that it has massively improved. It is marginal at best IMO.

My parents both have iPhone 4's. I have the 4S, to be honest, after quite alot of comparison and testing, the 4S is leaps and bounds better... I think it would be stupid to buy the 4 now if you can afford the S.

Those look amazing! Might save them to use as wallpapers later lol

Ahahah! Thanks!
Added high def on the same post ;) enjoy it!

What do you mean with "leaps and bouds better"?

New here and I own a 4s...

I would say even if I WAS PAYING FULL VALUE and did not use my hbbys upgrade I would get the 4s. The reason being is it is the newest model and coming from the android this phone is above anything I have every owned.

Go for the newest model...if you can :D

Really? I almost bought a Samsung Galaxy SII, but was worried about the updates. Also, I have a macbook pro, so it will be easy if I go with an iphone.
Glad to hear that you liked. Makes me feel better for spending that kind of money.

For curiosity, here, where I live, it costs about 1,100 dollars an iPhone 4S 16gb black, unlocked.

Is that Vietnamese Pho soup? There's a local place in my town that has AMAZING Pho soup. I get it almost once a week. DELICIOUS!

1.That sucks, but what does that have to do with our considerations for which phone you should get. We have no idea how much money you are willing to spend. Both the 4 and 4S will get lost equally easily if you leave them in a taxi...

2. Both the 4 and 4S are equals in this regard. They will take all of those devices and put them into one.

3. Hangs? I don't understand. It's laggy? You will get some lag here and there with any phone. If you;re doing multiple things at once, you will see this happen.

4. Again, do you have the extra $300? Is it a big deal to you to spend the extra cash? If it's a week's salary, save the money and go with the 4. If you make $300+ a day, who cares? Go with the 4S.

5. This is the same question as 4, simply reworded. Please read my response above.

6. I don't know...
a. Personally the 4 has a great camera. 4S shines with video, IMO. Image stabilization for the camera is nice too I guess. I never REALLY found I needed it.
b. Its GPS is fine. No turn by turn without buying an app, which will rund another $50 or so. It works spot on for me, and I have been using it since the 3G (which didn't have a TRUE GPS chip)
c. 4S will load slightly faster. It also has HSPA+ capability. This is a little subjective. Side by side the 4S will likely beat the 4, but when you are using one or the other you won't likely notice a difference.

7. Ok, again, this isn't a question really... If you can spend the cash, go 4S. If you can;t swing it, get the 4. It's THAT simple. As I said before, it's probably not worth it if the difference is a week's pay. If you aren't working minimum wage flipping burgers (no offense meant to anyone with this) and have a career job that pays well, why not pamper yourself? You will likely have the phone for a year or more!

Why? The phone looks good to you NOW, right? What updates are you worried you will not get? Apple pushes all updates, but leaves out key features for various devices. You are on the latest VERSION of the OS, but you still don't get all of the features. IMO that isn't any better. It may make you feel better saying you are on 5.0.1 but not all phones with 5.0.1 are equal....

DONE.

BOUGHT iPhone 4S 16gb, black version. My first iPhone. Actually I won a Nokia 6303i.

Thank you all guys for the help!

You bought it already - the 4S?

That was quick. You waste no time. I just got out of the shower after I posted, and already you have a 16GB 4S. You really get the job done. How far back did you loose the S95? I'm just shocked at how quick you bought the 4S. You were probably on this forum posting while you were heading out to Apple all at the same time. What a multi-tasker you are.

Congrats!

What? 3 hours passed since his last post prior to the one where he states he purchased the phone. My nearest Apple store is 45 minutes away. I could still do it in that amount of time. Hell, I could do it in half... just post straight from the Apple store.

Ahahaha! No no no!
I CANT buy an iphone in Apple Store where I live. Its DAMN expensive!
I've just sent the money for a friend who is in USA and will come back on wednesday, so I will have my 'little baby' in 3 days :)

About the speed: actually, I was searching about 'iphone 4S' for 3 weeks and I read tons of threads, blogs, reviews etc. So all I needed was a light kick in my ass to buy it ehehhe! :D

So now I am curious. How did you friend get it for significantly cheaper than the Apple store would have?

I guess it's doable. I just couldn't see myself posting at a forum, seeking advice, while heading to Apple to get the phone. It was amusing though. I was just shocked at how quick the process was.

I'm glad you get in 3 Days. Lets us know what your impressions are? Have a good one.

bruleke, what country are you from that the iPhone is so expensive.

Where I live there are no Apple Store, only retailers. The price here is about 2,5 or 3x USA price for an unlocked phone. The same happens to everything from Apple.
Got it?

So you would pay $1800+ for an unlocked phone in your country. Please, do share where you live. I am sincerely interested.
