I managed to pre-order my 4.7 inch from Verizon, as their site went live for pre-orders around 11:55pm PST.

I had the opportunity to order the Plus at that moment also, but I had already made up my mind for the 6.

Yes, the Plus is thinner, narrower than the Note, but it is taller. Being an Apple loyal since the iPhone 4, I suddenly had a choice and when unsure where to go to help make my decision, I went to people that had had choice for years: my friends and family who use Android phones; specifically Samsung.

I have two friends who have the Note. One returned it a week later and the other is looking forward to getting the Galaxy 5. Yes the bigger screen is gorgeous, but it wasn't "practical" for them. Yes it fit in their pockets (barely, and a little uncomfortable when walking) and yes the two-handed use was fine, but part of a smartphone is the great portability of it. While the Note was portable, from their point of view, it was better go to with an S4/S5 as a smartphone.

I printed out size samples of the phones, and they were right. On video the Plus looks gorgeous, but I would put the cutout and lean it on my MacBook Pro screen, and wow, it's just humungous. The 6, on the other hand, is a perfect size for a smartphone, thin, light, and won't be bulky, tiresome, or unnecessarily cumbersome for the more mundane tasks of smartphones, such as texting and making calls.

Now, granted, everyone has different tastes and different uses for their phones. However, the fact that the Plus sold out so quickly is a byproduct of us (Apple fans) that have no idea just how big this thing is. Obviously here on MacRumors we compare it to the Note, we have cutouts, but there are more who simply saw "bigger screen," "longer battery," "more features (landscape)," and jumped on it.

I think there will be a lot of returns of the Plus because as Apple fans, the biggest phone we've had has been 4 inches. And the fact that there will be a ton of returns for the Plus, and not so much for the 6, shows that the 6 is the better choice.

It will be a hard learning-curve for us Apple users who never really had even a "big" smartphone and immediately jumped on for a phablet. The 6+ is for a niche market, just like the Note is for Samsung fans. The Galaxy series is still the go-to for them, and I think once people see how big the Plus really is, on a daily basis with daily use, the 6 will be recognized as the go-to Apple smartphone. And next year with the 6S and the 6S+, I predict the 6 will sell-out similar to how the 6Plus sold yesterday, once we Apple users truly understand what a phablet is.

I'm not crazy, just a little ahead of the curve :)

I chose the "regular" iPhone 6, also. Here's the reason why: I went to a Best Buy and tried to put a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 into any of my clothes pockets--talk about not fitting many pockets and just looking/feeling awkward even if it fits! And I just look ridiculous holding up the big phablet simulating the position of talking on the phone.

As a current owner of a Samsung Galaxy S III (which is almost the same size as the regular iPhone 6), at least that phone fits pretty well in most of my clothes pockets. :)

The Plus isn't an inferior phone because it is sold out and sought-after, the reasons I gave for this are in my OP. At no point was that even implied as the reason.

You're comparing apples to Apple.

You're so ahead of the curve batman. We will all come to you for our opinions next time, I don't know how we will get through this iPhone generation.

Try to get the Note 3 in the pockets of slim fit jeans. Been there, done that. No + for me! :)

This is for people who in the future feel the need to "make a case" for the 6, 6+ or sticking with their 5S

LOL so much defensiveness and dismissiveness in this forum.

People are simply tired of these validation threads (and know more will come). Around launch time of a new form factor we have to sift through threads like this.

You could have easily added your experience to an existing thread. Since you didn't, people will speak their minds. It's not because you don't make good points. It's because you don't make points that haven't already been rehashed (and will continue to be rehashed for weeks/months).

From the bottom of my heart though, enjoy your new phone. I am jealous you were able to order. I got screwed so I get to sit in line. :(

Agree with you 100%. I was 50/50 until I printed out the stencil. Also, I paid attention to how often I used my iPhone 5 with one hand. Was shocked because I didn't realize I used it one handed as much as I actually did. I knew the 4.7 was my best choice.

Please explain how it is inferior. I understand personal preference but that does not make a product inferior. You just have your preference. I for one have loved the Note series based on size alone. I have long wished Apple would make a phone close to the size of the Note. I am glad that day has come. That doesn't mean I think the 6 is inferior just that I have a preference for larger phones.

Shocked how many people are riding you for the long post. Isn't that what we are all here to do? .... Voice our opinion, whether short or long and in our own style. Btw, I read the whole thing. :)

If you watch videos or read a lot of content with the browser app then the larger screen is geared towards that. If you don't watch many videos or do a lot of web use then a large screen is just a waste of extra money and pocket space in my opinion. Soon as all these teenage girls that love to stick their phone in their tiny back jeans pocket and it doesn't fit anymore Daddy is going back to the Verizon store for an exchange. The plus is huge for a phone. I think 5" is the perfect screen size for a phone. 4.7" isn't bad at all. And everyone is going to spend millions of dollars on new cases anyway to cover it all up.

Having an opinion and personal preference is the whole point of the two models to say one is inferior to the other is going a bit far in my opinion. They are both great phones and one just needs to decide what they want in a phone.

I agree. In terms of technology there isn't many changes. Apple will refine this phone until they think it is perfect. The time I'll spend more money on an Iphone will probably be the Iphone 7 or 8. It has to be a phone where a case is not needed. So that must include a superior screen, probably by then sapphire will be much more refined and thinner. To use an Iphone with a case is like buying a new comfortable couch and putting that plastic all over it. :)

"My case for the 4.7 inch model" should have begun and ended with "It's the best fit for me." Everything else sounds like you're trying to convince yourself you bought the right model.

Why do so many insist there is a right and wrong answer? It's a preference.

The insecurity in this place is unreal.

The Note was my favorite android phone I have owned. So happy Apple is doing an iPhone that is close to the same size.
I am writing this with a note 3. To be honest loved it. Had a hard time figuring out how to carry it but... Loved it.
Was a faithful iPhone user from 3gs. When I got the 5s I was just very bored of Apple telling me I didn't need a bigger screen. And only the note added some functionality worth of changing my mac environment (imac, MBA, ipad retina, ipod classic, iPhone 5s) I managed to integrate android almost seamlessly and discovered it is a great os and learned quite a few things. But now that I get my larger screen... I think I'll go back to iPhone

Welcome back home :) - 16 lashes for deserters :apple:

Am I the only one who finds it hilarious that all of Apple's promotional materials show the iPhone 6 as being perfectly flat, somehow eliminating the protruding camera? I take that be an indirect confirmation that Apple had to compromise on the design.

Personally, I wouldn't mind a slightly thicker phone if it meant I could put it down on a flat surface without any wobbling. Thinner isn't always better, IMO.

You wrote a Freshman-level composition paper about your choice of iPhone. I just can't with this.
