Last year in mid December it was the rare iMac G3 (yes in Asia it is), i can't believe it i had the chance to steal this, this December ! :p

Saw this PowerBook G4 for usd 50.00, wasted no time and struck a deal it for usd 30.00. Shipped for us 5.00 (about 350 kms)

The moment i got hold of the package i knew it was cheap job in the packing !
I'd give the chair for the seller !

(The plastic lining above the cd rom had chipped away while on shipping- later found small pieces of chipped lining) i requested a decent packaging actually !

Also he did not mention about the missing f11 key. The lid does not close shut, the lock is gone.

IMG_1525.JPG

It has been through abuse in its life, neglected! It looks all nice n shiny in pics... BUT ITS NOT ! The color has faded.....i cant believe on how my ip6 camera is lying to me

somehow looking at all the of ports present, make me happy !

However, upon switching on, it was the blinking question mark in intervals of the finder logo as mentioned by the seller. Dnt know if the battery holds charge -

The cursor/pointer does not move at all. Plugged an usb mouse- the mouse didnt even get lit.

Gonna try slotting in a Leopard disk when i get back home. I dnt know which version of PB is this. The model no is A1010, which leaves me with 3 choices to guess from.

Upon pressing the option key there was no OS or hdd detected, no chime ( no chime- this gives me a bad feeling), but i can hear the hdd spin.

Dnt know how this is gonna turn out....wish me luck guys....;)

No chime isn't that big of a deal. Hopefully it your top case. She's gonna need a new bottom pan, like mine :(. I'd ship you an F11 key from my broken 17" KBD but I'm using it on my 12"

Can you lodge a dispute based on the product not being as agreed to? I know eBay/Paypal will work with you over this.

Thx for the suggestion mysticow, but this deal was not through ebay nor paypal.... The ad was via a local website which does not take heed about payment transactions, the deals struck by parties and the consequences of it, are no concern of the website/company which provides the advert service !

Ebay n paypal are funtional over here, but its less popular!

this is the progress....... when the Apple logo appeared i was already cheering>>>>
short lived though..... Its the ram upgrade or a much earlier OS which needs less ram i guess... the ram seems to be reasonable option. So near yet so far !!

Also, try taking the stick out, blowing on the slot and on the contacts on the RAM. Re-insert it and see what happens

I took out the ram n used a rubber eraser on it, but ddnt check out the slot.... Will try it.

Also.... Does it mean that i can nvr get 10.2 to run this PB....

No...Just get...10.2.7?
Thats wht i want to run actually ... But is there any site which i can get 10.2.7 ?

Or since i am also doing a clean install on an imac g4, which the 10.2 disk can be usd on, install in it, update it to 10.2.8 and then clone the hdd of the imac g4 to the pB...

I will hv to much later reinstall 10.1 in the imac g4

That should work. Without actually trying it, 10.2.8 should be a safe bet. I'm guessing that for 10.2.7, you'd need the build specific to the Powerbook(much like with the first gen G5s).
