Battery life is still most certainly a trivial matter, if you are using your phone a lot you will need to use a charger more often.
I just don’t understand why people think that over 10 hours a day of screen time is awful 😂

I'd take the increase and still be able to not have a brick in my pocket.
* that being said I'd love to have a 11pro since it seemed to be a good balance of battery life, size, and weight.... sadly, I can't get any of the screaming deals right now since they're all on payment plans.

Don't sweat over it unless you personally see a fault, coming on here and reading some no name enthusiasts OPINION on some perceived imperfection will prevent you from enjoying and just using your device. No one sits looking at the their phone trying to find fault with it.

Battery life is so-so, slightly worse than my 11 Pro but if you aren't a heavy user then it's fine. The gray blacks in low brightness settings is trivial to me, but it exists and might bother some more than others. The apps lagging a bit when swapping or going back to the home screen is an annoyance, but again not the end of the world for me. Not getting notifications is an issue that is really bothering me though, and I've never had that before where NONE of my devices get a notification. I've had my watch not get it or my phone not get it, but not both. I've also had the touch screen be unresponsive on certain apps or websites, although that sounds more like an iOS 14 bug than something specific to the 12.

This happens every year. The vast majority of users are perfectly happy with their new phones. The tiny subset of users who ALSO view AND post on tech forums like this will always contain a handful of extremely vocal complainers.

No the 12 series is an amazing set of devices. People are just being overly dramatic especially this year.
Which many, many here do every single day. One person posits a question or ask about something worrying them about their new phone and before you know it, there are 50 iPhone hypochondriacs looking up iPhone symptoms for a new phone illness.
I'm well over 5 hrs SOT and still have 40% battery on my mini. My SE could only get 1.5hrs and it would be at 10% after that. Small phone, small battery. Run the screen dark, don't use 5G, don't game on it.The Mini guys are getting 4-5 hrs. I’d be pissed too.
I don't know if they are 'terrible' as a whole but the one thing that is... battery life. I wouldn't even say terrible, but it's certainly a step backward
I wouldn’t call the battery life issue a trivial one. Even though the MagSafe lock sound sounds very funny haha. Definitely a first world problem 🤣
Slightly shorter battery life is 100% a trivial issue.
