Overall, I would say I'm disappointed. My hope was the bigger screen would lead to more productivity but I don't think it will.

If screen real estate is the issue consider getting a second monitor or an iPad. With MacOS Catalina you can make an iPad a second monitor. I do this and it really is nice to have the extra screen real estate to see what a second app is doing. And with my iPad Pro, using the pencil on some mac apps is really nice.

Plus it is great to be able to detach the iPad and use it to watch videos, etc.

OP,

You should have stopped to think about what you were wanting to buy, before making the purchase.

It’s not Apple’s fault you took a walk in the dark when you were holding a flashlight, and a sign in your hand that begged you to engage your brain.

You have a terrible habit of complaining about products without trying them, asking for advice, and then buying the very products you knew you wouldn’t like, and were advised to rethink before proceeding.

The purchase was about forum bragging rights. You know it.

I feel like there is more width.

Is it like "OMG!"?

Nope.

But it is noticeable.

Ouch. Brutal.

Please can you show a screenshot of opt-click on the wifi icon when you’ve got your fastest connection.

So you wanted a bigger screen but you didn't want it to get bigger or heavier...may be able to pull that off on the moon but not here on earth lol

Im glad we got a slightly bigger screen but it was more about adding room for the computer to breathe and rework the keyboard.

Picked up the 16' this morning. Only been doing some web browsing, no major work done yet.

BUT - every time I go to type something after minutes have passed from browsing, I am so pleased with the keyboard. I forget about it until I type again, and I'm like "ah, that's nice."

They need to change the entire lineup. Not fair that people have to go with the most expensive option for a simple keyboard redesign.

Also, that tiny bit of extra screen is noticeable, IMO.

I am thinking it feels like that because of the smaller bezels.
Could be. I’ll be used to it in a few days and I’ll go back to the 15 to see how it feels.

But that by itself should tell you the size difference isn’t earth shattering.

Ouch. Brutal.

But that "width" you speak, although I notice it too, feels like "dead space"

Like you go on a webpage and it just more empty space on the sides.

Can't stress how nice this keyboard is though. Every time I post on this forum I'm reminded how much I like it.

Oh, the keyboard is nails. It really is something. It feels so nice to type—-alone worth the price of admission.

I feel like my 2019 fights me as I type. This one is a pleasure.

I use a magic keyboard for my iMac. I don’t think these feel identical, but I can see why they called this a "Magic Keyboard."

Could you run Geekbench for both processor and compute? I would love to see how the new MacBook Pro is performing.

Does the 16" still run at the same "virtual resolutions" as the 15"? (Eg 1680 x 1050, 1920 x 1200, etc.) Or did they up them for the increased real "pixels"?

Okay, I just realized it lists them on the product page:
https://www.apple.com/macbook-pro-16/specs/

It says they are the same as the 15". That means you're actually not getting any more real estate, things are just a little bigger. That actually kind of sucks. I wanted a little more working space.

So everything is just zoomed more? Or like you said just bigger?

I would say that feels accurate. I'm using it now and everything feels like it's in 100000000 font.

I am zooming in on safari because I don't want a million miles of empty real estate on the sides of each page.

really the 15" or 16" now isn't any different using normal web pages and normal everyday things. The screen size is only beneficial in real work where you need the screen size. I day trade and a 12" MacBook would hurt that to me as I need multiple web pages open for it. I think the 15" is too small for that kind of work honestly and I use my 34" along side the 15" and an iPad to get the most from what I do.
For normal browsing a bigger laptop doesn't do anything. For apps and real work its helpful.

You trade? What software are you running

OP I think you're more upset that you just purchased a 2019 model and a new one has just come out. Its understandable. Many of us have been there before.

Please tell me you bought this MBP to do something other than browse the internet. I write software regularly and I currently have a 2016 15" model and having a 16" MBP with more "Width" would be great for reading long lines of code.
