I don't understand people. All this wishing and wanting isn't going to magically add these features to iOS. Why complain when you can just get rid of your iPhone 4, get a Nexus One and your boredom will be taken care of. There's no need to complain to us like we can change Apple's process of implementing these new features. Google loves to experiment.

I love iOS and my iPod touch, but is it so wrong for me to wish for some better features?

If you're bored of it you've got a few options. Return it if it's within the 30 day period or sell it. I don't think anyone really cares if YOU are bored with YOUR phone. Get your android and move on.

Shouldn't you be telling Apple this by submitting a add feature suggestion and NOT us. We cannot do anything about what you wish for.

There's a form on their website for suggestions.

Well, we are on a “discussion forum”. First word tends to be the clue, second word is there just incase you didn’t quite get it..

iPhone forum.. People own iPhones.. Discussion about lack of innovation in the iPhone OS.. Disagree, Agree, Contribute, Discuss constructively..

Want me to get a towel so i can wipe the drool from your face aswell?

I’m quite flabbergasted that people have just lost the ability to discuss a topic based on somebody’s opinion without it degenerating into personal drivel.

Discussion forum does not equal mindless rants and pointless whining. Maybe the fact that most responses here telling you to get a hobby or a life or use your phone as a tool is an indication of your pointless thread.

If you've been on an iPhone for more than 2 years iOS4 is pretty boring these days. However, the novelty phase of Android passes rather quickly and after that you start to notice its faults more--and there are a lot of them from battery life to stability, to application selection and hardware limitations.

Also, an Android phone is nearly worthless after a year, whereas you can sell an iPhone for $400-$500.

Lol at least you won't lose any excitement by using the BB Torch because it looks completely dire to begin with. The other BB's I can see the point of, simple but powerful email and messaging tools. The Torch however looks like a glossed up Palm Pre with a keyboard nowhere near as good as the older BB's.

Sorry for going off-topic

Hahah. I kind of agree. It doesn't look like much. But then I've never understood the appeal of the BlackBerry.

Hmm...Am I the only one that finds Facetime to be innovative?

Keep in-mind that early adapters like myself have seen phones with video chat before iPhone was even released. Nokia anyone?

The only thing that makes Facetime "better" than other phones with front-facing cameras is that the iPhone 4 can penetrate the market more than the others because of its userbase. This makes video chats more accessible to the end user because more people have a phone that support it.

Is facetime better than other phones in the implementation? Maybe
Is facetime better looking? I don't know
Is facetime going to be successful? YES
Is video-chat some new innovative feature never before seen on a phone? NO

Question becomes is it still the best device for you? Calling it a phone seems too understated for me, the phone is the function I use the least.
If it is still the best device for you then being bored with the device may just represent that it makes you so efficient. The other question is how many of the things that iOS currently lacks as compared to Android 2.2 would truly allow the device to make you more productive?
Having said that I do wish some features of the iOS continued to be addressed. The lack of a mobile hotspot doesn't bother me at all. The speeds are inadequate for me. Not being able to work from my iDisk directly on a device running iOS with a file is a problem I would love to see them solve. I would love to open a Pages document on my phone, add a few lines or paragraphs, save it, then open it at home seamlessly. That is a much bigger whole then a mobile hotspot or Google Intents would be for me.
I love the display, build quality, speed, the fact that I didn't have to buy a new point and shoot camera or video camera and many other things about the device.

You are more than welcome to send it to me.

Then I will, to give you something to be excited about, send a random mobile phone from my drawer back.

What a deal ;)

I use my iMac for the same, but i also love Time Machine because it was.. Well brilliant.. A great innovative way of backing up and finding your data.

I drive a Renault Espace, since getting married and having a kid i've offically given up on shiney and admirable things :).

I just want the same things i get from the Desktop OS, in the iOS.. That kind of "We must be the best and give our users the best features" moto they have adopted for years when it's come to Windows vs Mac, because as consumers it means we all get better products tbh.

What reaction would you of liked, i can't quite think of any others to attitude of "You're bored of your iPhone, must be that your life is boring".

Here's a tip.. Somebody spends more than two moments on the internet, bringing up a topic.. Does not mean they have to find a hobby, spend more time in the garden or drop into a state of clinical depression.. Please, get a grip on reality and stop using tired on lines which dimwits have used to somehow marginalized others.

I love the way you try to turn it around because you didn't get the response you were looking for. Welcome to the internet buddy.

What more do you need a phone to do for you? Seems someone else needs to get a grip.

Maybe you should read about this app "tasker" in the Android Marketplace.

You won't find it in the App Store. ;)

Why is it that people think a device will somehow cure their inability to be happy or find something worthwhile to do all day?

I think a lot of people are (willfully?) misunderstanding the OP.

I don't think the OP is saying that he is bored in life and is look for a phone to cure it. Instead, he seems to be saying that he is bored with iOS and is wondering what's on the other (Android) side. I can understand that feeling well, as it's what led me to switch to the EVO 4G when my iPhone/AT&T contract came up. The same sort of boredom will probably lead me back to the iPhone in two years.

Only boring people get bored, it has nothing to do with which phone is in your pocket.

It's a phone, not a soulmate...

Indeed. And from a practical standpoint - the UI is effective and works. And millions of new customers are on-boarding with the iPhone4 or are upgrading from their first entry - the 3GS. Which means millions of people are still NEW to the UI.

Sometimes people are a little egocentric in their worldview and how a company should operate. Please don't be offended by that word - that's not to say people are selfish or anything. What I mean is that - they are only looking at a situation from their perspective for whatever reason.

Those who have been with the iPhone since the beginning - I can see how you might want a "refresh". But I imagine the majority of people with iPhones now are NOT in that category.

The iPhone is only what - 3 years old? That's really not that long except to those that need new shiny things to keep them entertained every five minutes.

Without any concrete data, I think it's save to assume that the majority of people with iPhones have had theirs 2 years or less. If you get bored in 2 years or less - that's a little sad. I would extend that to 3 years as well... but no doubt someone will chime in with a counter argument about the OS feeling "outdated" To which my simple response is... to you.

I've had the iphone since the 3G came out. I have a Mac Pro, a Macbook, 2 ipods (nano for working out, touch for kids), and a Mac Mini. I wouldn't say that I'm a big mac dork or whatever, but I love how well they all work, and how easy they are for the wife and kids.

That being said. I wanted to try out verizon because my new job (Life and Health Ins Agent) is going to require that I make more calls on my cell phone and AT&T is not that great where I am. I got the Droid X and thought it was really cool in a lot of different ways, but in the end I came back and got an iphone 4.

Although the Droid phones seem to be able to to more, they can't come close to the smoothness and reliability of the iphone. The apps are a joke compared to the quality of the iphone apps, and the variety, and that's one of the main reasons I came back to the iphone.

However, I will miss the google integration with the operation system. The talk to text, map, search web, contacts etc. was amazing and I struggled to leave that behind. The google map version blows the iphones basic google map away! The voice navigation that they have is better then my navigon app for sure. Other than the google stuff, their phones don't come close.

I know that google has to have reasons for people to buy their phones, but I dream of the day that the iphone will get more of their features, especially their version of the maps.

Anyways, that's my brief story about trying out the dark side and coming back to the light. :)

What the hell does this guy want it to do? The apps increase the functionality and he's bored with the features.

OP, please tell me what truly 'new' addition to the cellphone you're planning to add.

Don't get married even if it was to the perfect woman. No patience for it. The 7 year inch becomes a 7 day or 7 minute one. Get bored of relationships too.

Unplug yourself from your cell phone and computer, and connect to real life. That will do the trick :)

What's the point of this thread? I'm surprised it didn't drop like a rock do to it's lack of usefulness. Maybe I missed something (only posting because someone just bumped it to the top).
