After reading all the scam responses, now I'm I'm a little concerned about my sale. I to sold the wifes extra iphone, got a $900 shipped. The buyer is from Taiwan, feedback is 5, the paypal I got has seller protection, and the address the buyer wants ship to is confirmed. What do you guys think??? The funds are in my account. What do you guys think??

You should be ok.
Keep all the shipping receipts and tracking number incase he tries to reverse the charges and claims he never got it.

Yeah, if he did do paypal though then you are safe, but man that's sketchy somehow.

Man I may for sure buy two phones if I can make that kind of bank.

Just because he paid through Paypal, don't mean he is safe. If it is from a fraudulent source, Paypal will revert the payment. Just saying.

900 is pretty good price for 32g IPHONE4. It is not unusual to spend a paycheck to buy a phone in Taiwan/China. Iphone 3GS is selling about 1000 us dollars in China now.
My questions is how can they use it since the phone is locked.

Or you can transfer it to your account and not ship it until the money is in your bank account. Just tell him you have to wait for the money to clear. If you want to cancel, it's up to you. IMO I would be a little concerned if I were you, but if the money clears then you should be fine.

Let me put this as politely as I can....

I hope the guy is a scammer and you lose your iPhone 4 AND the $1750!

It is greed and speculation like yours that got the world into the financial mess it is in.

Furthermore, if the deal goes smoothly, I hope the IRS learns of your speculation and comes knocking on your door for their share. :D

You sir, are an asshat.

Oh heck no! I have sold multiple high dollar items and would never ever ever not ever sell to anyone with 0 feedback. I never ever sell to anyone outside the US, not even Canada. I have never been screwed out of any $$, but I've had plenty of people "take off" after winning. I normally sell event tickets so there are not many people trying to screw the seller in that arena. I would have probably sold it on CL for cash - but only $20's - they are less likely to be counterfeit - money orders and cashier's checks are sometimes counterfeit as well. I am pretty sure you can cancel the sale and take the negative feedback. If you don't do a second chance offer to someone lower on the list that has good feedback and is in the US then you will still have to pay the ebay fees, which could be hundreds of dollars. Check your seller account.

wait would you or would you not sell to canada. I can assure you, i would not scam you:p

I don't get people for faulting this guy for trying to make some extra cash. If someone is stupid enough to pay that much for something they really want then fine. Chevy dealerships were asking 10k-20k over sticker when the Corvette ZR1 came out and people were buying them. It's called supply and demand.

no, its called the OP is oblivious to scams and we're trying to help him out. apparently, you are too.

half the people here talking about "its good once the money is cleared and in your bank account" obviously don't know how Paypal operates. They're mindlessly telling OP to get scammed.

I'm a veteran eBay seller and this sounds like a scam to me ... one of the reasons I won't sell internationally. Run away from this as quickly as possible. Refund the money and cancel the transaction with eBay to get your fees back. I think the buyer can still leave feedback but I'd take the hit over giving my new iPhone away. Good luck.

Whenever I see one of these threads, I can't help but think of The Office (NBC) and Michael Scott...

Toby: Didn't you lose a lot of money on that other investment? The email?

Michael Scott: You know what Toby, when the son of the deposed king of Nigeria emails you directly, asking for help, you help! His father ran the freaking country! Ok?

When an Ebay buyer offers you WAY over what the item is being sold for on other auctions AND he is from OUTSIDE the US, doesn't that set off the alarm bells??? Majorly???

Nope. I think whoever bought this is scamming him. But there are a lot of people who are trying to crucify him for making some extra cash. It's not evil to make a profit. People will pay inflated prices for stuff they really want or enjoy (i.e. Starbucks, Abercrombie) when there are cheaper alternatives out there. I sold my 3G for $250. I could have traded it to Radioshack for $100. Now I can pay for my new phone and have a few bucks left over.

Are you saying that you understand my capitalist point of view?? Thanks! :)

Sixslinger,

Here is what you should do.

Refund the money via Paypal
Request a final value fee credit through eBay so you don't have to eat up the fees.
Repost the phone via another auction.
????
Profit.

Just make sure the buyer have feed back and ship domestically only.

If you decide to ship the phone, knowing that 90% of other phones are selling at $800 to $1000,then you deserve to get scammed. Just saying.

I have no problem with sellers making a profit. But I do not think this is a good sale. I think the seller will lose the phone and the money.

I agree 100%

Well,. the point is that this is a product that is short on supply. Some of us were able to snag one and some of us could not. It is being sold as a nice product to use and not as a lottery ticket. I think people that take this when they don't really want it, and in doing so deprive others who do, just to make a profit deserve to be scammed.

If you decide to ship, please consider the following...

1. Is the payment "seller protected" by Paypal? - if the answer is no, never ship!!!
2. If yes, ship it via fedex express or ups and never usps. Usps shipping is much cheaper but they do not provide detailed delivery confirmation. For example, usps only states delivered to hong kong, hk. You will need proof that it was delivered to the address stated in paypal.

Call paypal to confirm your steps and make sure to write down his/her name and make sure the conversation is logged.

Good luck...

You have an odd sense of economics. I hear France is nice this time of year if you are looking for a place where things are more "fair"....
