My package is coming from Nashville, TN and only weighs 0.90lbs. Does that sound right? Wonder why some are 2lbs.

Just checked mine, not with the number being upgraded, but with the main number on my account. My phone is departing China and expected delivery is 9/21!

0.40kg, by the way. I think perhaps the 2 pound thing is some generic number they are putting in.

Cause it's odd to me that everyone else's will come from china and mine is coming from USA, best I can guess is it came over Ina shipment before it was scanned ?

Not odd, we already knew there was stock in the US.

I was just going to post about this too... I actually ordered two iPhone 5s, and tracked them by reference... got two tracking numbers.

One is coming "World Ease" from China.... currently in ZhengZhou, China and scheduled delivery 9/21/12 (no time).

The other says it started in the United States and shows: "last location, Addison, IL" plus schedule delivery is: Friday, 09/21/2012, by 3:00 P.M

Oh, and weight on the US one is 2lbs. Weight on the China one is 0.40 kg.

That's the problem the iPhone packages from China are all .40 kg = 0.881849 lbs. So unless the US based ones stopped by McDonalds for a Happy Meal they are overweight!

Dave

Could just be horribly calibrated scale. The shipping box out of china could be smaller than the US one making up for the ~0.12 lb's.

For reference my 11" MacBook Air weighed in at almost 6lbs with box and shipping box

Ups usually rounds up so if its 1.01lbs on a scale the label and tracking info will show 2lbs

This.

UPS won't allow tenths of a pound unless it's on an overnight letter envelope.

All other shipments are in full pounds.

Source: I ship things professionally.

Anyone with a package showing 2lbs is actually getting the iPhone 5 with a CRT screen.

Most just round up to the nearest pound. 2 pounds seems about right including the phone, the iphone box, the shipping box and packing materials. The card board UPS box probably weighs more the the phone itself. It could weigh 1.2 pounds and just rounds up to 2 pounds.

What happened to that brazil center they built. I know thats partly to circumvent the import tax but they said they would ship to US as well. Not sure which apple products they were producing tho

I have not ordered anything else and it's my phone number and my zip code and it says will be delivered the 21 st by 3 why would it be something else

Could be your, "Welcome to the fanclub t-shirt and packs of kool-aid".;)

Come on folks, put a little bit of common sense into things.

2 Pounds? This is just a number they put in. Packages are not always EXACTLY as posted.

Already here, next day, etc?
Come on. Apple has already set these up to be delivered on 9/21. No matter how close or how far from you house. It will go on the trucks early on the 21st (maybe even late on the 20th).

...... hopeful wishes are great. But, most of the folks here should be smart enough to understand how things work.

I have it on good authority that those heavier packages contain the "free" Lightning Adapter that was hastily removed from the Apple Store quickly followed by some Apple employee's head rolling down 1 Infinite Loop. Apparently a few of them slipped through the shipping process before the mistake was caught.

Apple has your number, tho, and you will be billed later. Or, you can work off the $29 charge in one of Apple's sweat shops in CN. One week should do it. :)))

It's 2 lbs because people looking to steal the phone from your doorstep will think it's something else.. And hopefully leave it. I'll bet that it's in a bigger box with a good amount of packaging.

Mine is sitting in ZhengZhou, China, and scheduled for delivery by 10:30 am on 9/21!

Mine must be on the same flight because my UPS tracking info is exactly the same as yours. It is a 32GB AT&T model going to the east coast. Only difference is mine doesn't specify a deliver time of 10:30am, just 9/21/2012. Too bad, I'd like to not have to hang around till 6pm waiting for the UPS guy.
