It says it can take up to 48 hours. This reminds me of the nightmare of initial iPhone launch.

Kinda a bummer, oh well. I guess I will just have to hope AT&T gets this figured out before I leave on a 9 day trip out of the Country tonight at 5.

Once again Apple and AT&T Suck

This often happens because of Apples idiotic activation process and the fact they don't do a staged rollout. Each major iPhone or iPhone firmware release results in the activation servers being overloaded and customers suffering delays as a result.. Inexcusable.

Says it could take up to 48 hours to activate. WTF? Am I supposed to drag around two phones til then?

Looking forward to getting away from Apple an AT&T in the future as competitive phones catch up.

The servers are getting hammered, probably since everyone is trying to activate during their lunch break, give it a couple of hours.

ok nice got it, so here's what I did:
    1. Turn off your existing phone completely, in my case it was an original iPhone.
    2. Then make sure your iphone 3gs is disconnected from the computer.
    3. Turn off your 3gs
Both phones should be off at this point.
4.Turn back on your 3GS and it should be activated

    Hope this helps.

On the phone with AT&T, apparently there's issues on their end with my phone not even being known to be trying to activate. Who knows. Might actually get something changed.

I've been waiting more then 2 hours. iTunes still shows processing activation. I turned my existing phone off and am trying to activate the sim card that came with the phone. This is getting ridiculous. I just want to get past the processing activation part so at least I can use the phone while I then, I guess, move on to "waiting for activation".

Anyone else still stuck at the processing part?

Mine said I could unplug it and plug it back in to do the rest, but I dunno. Maybe that's what's causing my problem.

I think the problem actually might be with the old phone. I turned my old one off prior to activating the new one and got the same message for over an hour.

I turned off my new phone, turned on the old one which then said "no service" after searching for several moments.

I then turned the old phone off (thinking great now I have two dead phones) and turned the new one back on and it activated right away.

Perhaps AT&T needed to send out some kind of kill command to my old phone?
