I called AT&T and the fixed the problem. She just updated the information on her end and told me to shut the phone completely off. Turned it back on and it activated. 48 hours my butt.

Ugh, my AT&T rep was way less helpful. I was on the phone for nearly an hour, 45 minutes of that being silent as she "tried to find the activation code" or whatever. And still no activated phone of course.

Hmm, restoring didn't make me go through the activation process again... Not sure what to do. Maybe I'll call AT&T again.

I'm in Seattle. I just turned my 3GS completely off and then back on again. Activated in 5 seconds.

I suggest everyone try that a few times.

In Southern California I activated through iTunes at about 1030 AM (with my old 3G turned off). The iTunes part went through in about one minute and I got the message on my 3GS to wait for ATT activation. After waiting almost 45 minutes with no activation on the phone I turned the phone off then back on a couple times. The second time I did this it activated immediately.

Im just on the phone with them now.. none of my info (IMEI/SIM) was in the system.. they added it said it should activate on its own now

Same here. She was very friendly. :) Worked pretty quickly.

Have shut off/turned back on multiple times. I'm on the phone with AT&T again, and apparently they don't have the iccd/imei in the system, so they're putting it in, hopefully that will work? Who knows.

yup - worked for me too. called AT&T and was activated in two seconds. I'm amazed that I didn't have to stay on hold longer than getting through the navigation process.

Yeah it got stuck transferring my phone number to the new SIM. Fixed it my removing and replacing the SIM. A reboot probably would have worked too.

The CS rep had to reset my visual voicemail. Couldn't access it after the switch.

ANYONE having the issue where you are stuck at the "Please wait while we process your request" in iTunes??

Restart Your Phone!

Sorry if this is already posted...

RESTART YOUR PHONE IF IT'S NOT ACTIVATING AS QUICKLY AS YOU'D LIKE.

Mine said No Service for hours. i restarted, and voila. Fixed. No more freaking out e-mails from people who can't get ahold of me!

FYI: Just activated in NYC at 3:00 EDT. Right out of the box. Took less than 60 seconds.

I think they have tons of people working, as I have yet to be on hold once. She transferred my info, restarting now and.... nothing.

After waiting an hour or so for my phone to activate and no luck I decided to swap the sim cards with my old 2G iPhone. Working great now!

On the phone with AT&T now. The phone was not showing up in their system. Everyone I have spoken with seems confused and has no answer...

Still haven't gotten my phone yet but since i'm a brand new at&t customer coming from a current vzw account, when i activate my iphone should i turn my verizon phone off or leave it on. Don't know if it makes a difference so i thought i'd ask.

My phone has been "waiting for activation" for about three hours. I've tried the switching on an off thing with no luck.

I just got off the phone with AT&T. While the guy was really friendly, he claims there's nothing he can do. He said he couldn't even check to see if my IMEI was already in the system to be activated because "Apple handles things differently and your phone has to be plugged into iTunes in order to be activated. Just keep trying and I'm sure it'll work soon." I'd call back and try another customer service rep to see if I could activate it manually but I don't want to be That Guy.

I called AT&T when I got the 48 hour message so I called the the rep patched me thru to the activation center and that guy said he'd push me to the 'front of the line', heard some clicking of the keyboard keys, says wait 5 minutes or so and BLAMO.. 'iPhone is activated' showed up not 2 minutes later.. yay!:D

Nobody seems to be hearing me: what happens if I'm stuck at THIS screen?

Try again, it finally activated for me. They need to get your iccid and imei number. Be That Guy, it worked for me :p.
