I haven't opened an iPhone 4 but the genius said "oh I can fix this" and later came back saying he broke the vibrator and was giving a replacement phone. So it may be something they deal with often, and maybe it was a loose screw hitting the glass.

I can definitely see a broken vibrator causing the issue you explain...if its broken, it will certainly be hitting something inside. My point was just that it probably wasn't hitting the glass itself...it just sounded like it did.

Yes I did, hopefully the lady working my case will sort this today..

If I were you I might consider getting a refund and waiting till iPhone 5 or maybe white iPhone 4? I heard white iPhone 4 may have better quality control for a while since all the attention is focused on it. I also heard droids are bad @$$. My brother has one and loves it. He said if his ever breaks he might look at iPhone but he really likes his droid.

Just an update:

I called Apple they refused to send another device out. Some how I was transferred to manufacturing errors or something. I have no idea how I got to this department, but the female that is working my case said she works with the highest grade iPhone techs who make the supply chain work, and design the process for building an iPhone.

She put me on hold for some 10ish minutes and said this yellow screen issue is a HUGE manufacturing defect and they ARE trying to pin down where it is coming from. Right now she is unaware if its the bonding agent or the LCD itself being bad.. I'd assume both. She said they are receiving TONS of replacements on the iPhone 4 and iPad 2.

She told the previous case worker all the information and they will not send a new one because after 2 there is a computer block apparently. I have to have a $500 hold on my CC and they will keep replacing them until I get a good one.

She mentioned the vibrator and screen are the 2 most common defects with the iPhone 4, and the screen is a huge problem with the iPad. She offered compensation, although she told me they cannot tell me what it will be until this is over.

Once it is, she said she will make sure the customer satisfaction department will do something AMAZING.

Her words: "Look at the forums online. That's enough proof we have a big problem here."

She checked every case of mine and said other agents just thought I was just trying to get a new phone, but she works in the department that just deals with manufacturing defects and these are all indeed issues that they ARE aware of and trying to figure where they are coming from to fix it.

It seems like Apple could fix this whole issue with an update that allows users to control the warmness/coolness of the screen.

No, because the LCD's with a yellow tint on it are permanently this way. Its not calibration, its the screen or bonding agent doing this.

Nick, who did you get transferred too when you called them? Who should I ask to get transferred too when I try to get a brand new 4 like you did?

I do not know. I emailed you all the info I did when I got this done.

However, don't hold your breathe. You have to bust some balls to get someone to listen to you. I've been at this for months trying to get one with a decent screen.

I just want a brand new retail box for a replacement. Do I ask to get transferred to someone to get that?

Dude, I've told you MANY times...

You ask for a senior adviser. Tell them you want a brand new advance replacement. They transfer your case, and then the process begins.

Okay but they ask for Applecare otherwise its 29$ . Somehow you got through that, why can't I?

Hey Andrew,
seriously man. You are the yellow screen king. Any thread with any mention of a yellow screen, you are all over it.

Haven't you already had several replacements to date? Maybe this phone cannot be made to your expectations. You've had Apple store employees go thru 30 units (your admission in previous threads). You purchased an electronic device and even with all of these ocd issues, you still want to pursue getting another replacement. If I was Apple and I saw your Apple I.D. and all the times you've gotten replacements, excessive requests for service - I would tell you to go pound sand.

Apple cannot meet your expectations. Maybe you should try something else? HTC, Motorola all make great phones without yellow screens.

Don't take this as an attack. But don't you think at some point, this is excessive?

Okay. For the 6th time, I had NO idea that the guy went through 30 replacements. I simply told him I didn't want another yellow screen, he agreed it was a defect and said he would be back. Came back 20 minutes later and said he went through 30 phones. That one was perfect until the glass became loose. Ive only had 4 replacement iPhones. EVER. Never had the 2G replaced, the 3G or 3GS.

just want to preface this with, i think you're a cool guy. I have no issues with you personally. But, I think 4 replacements is sliding towards the excessive side. However, if you feel that you need to pursue this more and they (Apple) go for it - then do it.

If it was me, I would have given up a long time ago. Sure I when I compare the screen of my Ipod Touch 4 to the iPhone 4 I do see the slight yellow hue when the brightness is cranked up. Very noticeable when side by side. But otherwise, when out and about people are amazed at the clarity and richness of the pictures I take with my phone. It's never been an issue outside of this forum, a select few and you.

OP, sorry to derail this thread.

Not a problem. However, I should mention - the lady I spoke with is in a manufacturing defect department and admitted this yellow screen problem is an ISSUE and this is NOT supposed to be happening.

Same exact brightness there. Thats currently how yellow my phone is now. Thats why I deserve a nice white one.

That's pretty crappy, I'd be demanding as many phones as it takes, man that's bad. I'll chalk another reason up to me staying put with my almost 2yr old 3GS awaiting the iPhone 5 launch and subsequent reviews. If I was you worst case I'd demand a full refund and buy a cheap off contract phone to hold you over to the iPhone 5. Wow.

Thats okay, Im finally getting a brand new in retail box tomorrow morning from advanced replacement. I showed that picture to a senior advisor. You should have heard her when she saw it haha. I emailed it to her supervisor too.
