i have shattered my iphone 4 back and it broke into 2 pieces. the front is perfect thought. the battery ripped out. i know it 100% my fault but will apple replace it for me? is there a way i can pay $200 or $400 to get a new iphone 4 instead of paying $600? i have heard apple replacing the broken iphone 4 to some customers. i wonder if any of you guys have that experience?

Apple will replace it for $199. Make an appointment.

I got a appointment. Thanks.
Do they always replace it for $199 or does it depend on the phones damage? Because I thought if you break your phone hey charge you $599 for a new one.

Maybe some people want a better looking device and they don't go around flinging it all over the place.

For clumsy gits who have 10 butterfingers, they can buy some cheap plastic phone that doesn't break even if steamrolled.

For those of us who can treat something valuable and nice in a way to it is worthy, well they don't have to worry about it.

For people who think they should just be able to chuck something around because it is a cell phone, well you don't deserve a nice cell phone.

Sorry, but that post pisses me off. I'm not careless with my iPhone. I don't have butterfingers, nor do I toss it around. I don't leave it on my lap and try to avoid the no-hands shoulder hold while talking. No putting in with keys, coins etc.

But once I was at conference sitting down in the hospital and the phone managed to completely slip out of my white coat pocket. Just this week I was in line at the supermarket and when I went down to pick up my basket for checkout it also slipped out of my shorts pocket and landed facedown. No damage fortunately.

Accidents happen and it can be completely inadvertent so get off the high horse. The iPhone ought to be able to withstand that type of fall without completely shattering. At least with my 3GS I only have to worry about the front and have had it caseless the whole last year.
