Arn Abuse

As long as I have known Arn, it is kinda sad that I have to whore out my pitiful iTunes account to get Arn to finally put my tech-recipes on the front page.

We have almost 100 Apple related tutorials and it takes sharing my wife's love of bad music (cough, Nelson, cough) to get some link loving from my ole buddy.

Gee, thanks...

;)

Gotta love how this is all purchased based...

...not that I don't love the iTMS and buy regularly, I just think it's odd that there isn't any Top 100 Most Played or Recently Played widget. More incentive to buy, buy, buy I suppose.

My iTunes widget on widgetbox too

Pretty cool. Looks like iTunes teamed up with widgetbox too. I found on their site as well: http://www.widgetbox.com/widget/my-itunes

They seem to let you make changes to the widget afterwards and make it easy to install in a lot of the popular places. Don't seem to do wordpress though but you can probably just grab the code for that.

Its based on recent activity which has a short list. Some people have thousands of songs that they ripped from CD.

People play more and buy less. If your theory was true, then there would be a most played as it would tend to have more songs listed.

Levity, i'd love to engage in conversation, but i'm not sure i understood what you were saying in the least bit.

Embedded in this widget code are instructions to scan your credit card transactions against iTunes registry for EACH song you place in the widget. If no valid purchase can be found, an automatic lawsuit is generated suing you for $3000 for copyright infringement.:(

If a valid transaction IS on file, the lawsuit code is bypassed in favor of code automatically putting your email on a 'if you liked song 'X', you'll LOVE blah blah blah' list. This email will be sent to you no less than 349 times a day.

Cynical??? :D What makes you say such a thing???

Actually, I was just complaining about this too -- but the more I think about it, the more it makes sense. If everything is clickable and takes you to where you can buy the song, then obviously Apple doesn't want to open it up to NON-iTunes-purchases -- because that leads to the potential of clicking on songs that maybe AREN'T on iTunes. I personally don't see the problem with having a "that song is not yet available on iTunes" message popping up -- but I can also see why Apple might be worried of that happening too often. The widget won't seem as "smooth" then, and it may make the iTunes store seem limited.

I don't like it, but I get it.

So now Apple likes Flash?

How are all these widgets and the new .Mac photo gallery stuff supposed to work on my iPhone?

Have you actually tried a .Mac photo gallery on the iPhone? It displays a version tailored for the iPhone; ends up looking quite similar to the iPhone Photos app really.

It's NOT all purchased based from what I've seen. It gives you a choice to show "Purchased" or "Favorites" or "Reviews" that you have written.

In any case, it is kind of neat to see what others have bought. Here's mine:

[itunes-purchases]8538699[/itunes-purchases]

(and yes, I purchased my own music, jido-genshi, only to test it!)

I don't know how to post this... :(
Nevermind...got it.
I don't buy a lot of stuff from iTunes, just singles here and there. I still rely on physical media (CDs) for my music.

I hadn't until you mentioned it, just viewed it in Safari on the desktop. Pretty slick, even if you lose some of the higher bells and whistles from the full version.

I still find it odd that Apple is using Flash for this iTunes widget though.

How about using iLike or Last.fm?

Both iLike.com and Last.fm have similar functions and not tied to purchases at the iTunes store.

How long does it take for the Widget to update? I download a few songs tonight (after I posted my list on the 1st page of this thread) and it did not update yet.

Odd....

So like hey Apple! Do I get some kind of commission for all the songs I'll sell? Like gimme a free song for every 10 someone buys from my list or something.
