Probably a good viral advertising move by Apple (advertising ITMS songs all over thousands of web pages without them looking like annoying ads), but the widgets look ugly, uninspired, and dated in their aesthetic design.

Last.fm does it MUCH better, and Apple should be able to do better, too -- it's amazing something as unpolished, non-sophisticated and non-refined got Jobs' approval.

My first attempt.

I thought apple store ID, but it's supposed to be the "ID" given in the url string copied from the website. Didn't work for me however. Won't bother with it again. Shame it doesnt work.

Same for me.

Interesting.

Neat idea. Surprised it took them so long, actually. I expected to see this about a year ago.

Does anyone know if additune, http://www.additune.com/ , plans to roll out widgets? (another music recommendation site that I found). Thanks.

I tried and this sucks

:(

I posted it and it shows the albums I've purchased, but if you click on one, rather than showing what's in the album, it does a funky routine of calling up the iTunes store and then refreshing the original page.

Why one would do this as opposed to the iLike or Last.fm widgets is beyond me. Those will show any tune you've played, favorites, and such, and if you add iLike to iTunes, it will show what people are listening to close to real time and let you sample most of the music, iTunes purchased or otherwise.

this gets 2 thumbs down:p :p

Additune Widget

As one of the creators of Additune, let me answer that with a big yes. We've been focused on polishing our Mac client so give us a little bit but definitely expect to see something soon.

If this becomes widespread, I may have to break out the iPhone to do a majority of my browsing...

This is only strengthening my resolve against Flash on the iPhone.

If you hate Flahs, then Firefox with FlashBlock is your friend. Instead of Flash, you just get a "play"-button that you can use to view the Flash. Don't want to see any flash? Don't click on the button.

[itunes-purchases]95529361[/itunes-purchases]

EDIT: Damn, why isn't it working :(?

EDIT2: Also, I noticed that while the widget does work in my blog for example, it does not display all my purchases. It doesn't display my first seven purchases at all. Is there a time-limit or something to how far in the past it displays that info?

my iTunes Favorites doesn't seem to work

"This widget is currently unavailable. If you created it, be sure to sign in to iTunes and select Enable My iTunes."

I just found these widgets while creating a web page on iWeb. I can get the "purchases" and "reviews" widgets to work using the HTML snippet widget in iWeb, but the "favorites" one keeps telling me to enable my iTunes. It obviously already is. I've checked the code as best as I know how and I seem to have the correct userID in the code like the other two widgets. Any ideas as to why I can't get this ONE widget to work?
