Simple, Apple Displays have better color. Specs might be similar on paper but other components such as the quality of the backlight etc.. make a difference.

In the end it came down to two things. Style and price. Firstly, style. The Apple Cinema Display is miles ahead of Dell's displays in terms of graceful design, I consider a display as part of the rooms furniture, and the Apple Cinema Display shines in this retrospect.

Look at it this way, I'm never going to sit here and think "I wish I cheaped out and saved $200 for the Dell", but sitting here with the Dell I might think "I wish I spent the little extra for the Apple display."

I like the altar appearance.

Agreed. I mean once you spend a few thousand on a desktop system, 200 bucks is chumpchange to have a much nicer monitor. I never did understand why people would spend 3G's on a Mac Pro and then go cheap by 200 dollars for a Dull monitor.

This is actual use, other than the original photo, I have two other items on my desk. My Canon 350D, and My Canon TX1. I love working in a clean working space.

Just beautiful. My desk will never be that tidy...
