Hi,

Maybe not in England where if someone was killed by an accident of some sort then it is normally the fault of the victim due to the fact that if he/she/they were not born in the first place then the accident would never have happened to them and because of that, they as victims (even if they are now dead) will have to pay compensation to the aggressor or guilty parties for cost of legal fees, loss of earnings and the emotional trauma they have had to go through! I cannot therefore understand why a company would play so low key and try and fob off an issue like this in a country like the USA where the individuals are brainwashed in suing each other right from the foetal stage and where the society sees it as a normal thing to do! Even over the most insane things - millions are usually paid out! Something like this, which is a very serious issue, should have any company in the USA crapping their pant's and shaking in their boots should it not? Can you imagine the bad publicity in any case, but God, forbid, if something happened to anyone, especially a child who may not know what to do?

Bazzy!

Worse than all that... Can you imagine the PC vs. Mac commercials Microsoft will begin producing?

heh...they dident want to....

i met a customer rep who actually told me "i have been fully compensated by my free adapter"

i almost had a blod clot in my head...i was that pissed....and eventually i slept on it and waited to call back and got someone who felt my discouragement. i wanted them to assure me this adapter would make it to engineering and be looked at to prevent this,

he then fought with upper management to make sure i got somthing for my trouble...time...and property damage.

i thanked him for that in a personal email.

Liked the way you handled it. I'm sorry it happened in the first place but am thankful that you (as well as the others who have experienced this thus far) weren't physically harmed and that no serious property damage was done. I know it's only been a few cases but Apple really needs to take some large scale action here if this keeps occurring.

Good choice on the 15" BTO, enjoy it.

This makes me a little nervous! My macbook is sitting at home right now-- plugged in. x.x

This is what I was actually thinking right now!
I ALWAYS forget to unplug my laptop. And often let the iphone plugged to recharge all night long...

I wonder if there is some sort of surge protector that will cut the current is the case of overheating...

heh...i thought of it...and have made a solution.

im designing a small device to attach between the magsafe and laptop which will have a fuse in it. if somthing is to short at least in the adapter end it will trip the fuse.

apple will never license magsafe so its hard to make anything.

i would give these away to people just for peace of mind.
