There is a program to change your fan speed. I've seen it around I just can't remember what it's called. It may have even been posted on here at one time.

Help!

My Fans are going at 6212 RPM! Is that ok????
I found a program that increases the speed of your fans automatically! Will my fans burn out?
My MacBook is sitting at 29 degrees, and my key board is REALLY cold! I need to know if this ok! so ANYONE, pls help me out! I don't know if this is safe for my MacBook or not and I don't want it to burn out!

I would appreciate ANY feed back!

6212 RPMs seems way too fast. I'm not familiar with the cooling system on the MB, but I've never seen my MB Pro's fans spin that fast. I can only imagine your MB must sound like two jet engines .

No actually, My MB is VERY quite when it is running up at 6212RPM I just found a program this morning however that controls it PERFECTLY!:D But when it does reach that speed I can feel my keys go ice cold! Literally!

does anyone want me to post the program? It is the easiest thing ever!

well I do not know what is going on with my MB now but it is sitting 19 degrees C! I take it that is good? And it is running at 4372RPM

My iMac G5 is around 30-40CPU % and its running at 68 Celsius. :D Maybe I should use this and bump up the fans a bit :)

Certainly to achieve this your computer isn't processing anything and has just woken up from a nap. :)

My MacBook has never been less than 27 C

I am using 8 Safari's, iTunes, and using Xslimmer at the moment while my system has been sitting at a steady 19 degrees C! It is with out a doubt the best program I have used!

The program is called: SMC Fan Control
http://homepage.mac.com/holtmann/eidac/software/smcfancontrol2/index.html

what I especially like about this program is that it allows you to make your own settings for when you MB or MBP is at different battery stages! It really is an amazing program!

The only thing I regret is that it takes 15 min off my battery life, but I am not concerned about it! ENJOY!:D

Temperature conversions

I just modified some .kext files to tell when my mbp to kick in the fans and to run them a bit faster. Now my processor is 40˚f-50˚f cooler, and 5˚c-10˚c for all you out of the usa. Battery life is maybe 5min shorter, and the fans are not all that much louder.

50% cpu with modifications is the same as my idle temps before and 100% cpu with mods is like 50%cpu without mods.

I realise that this topic is ancient but I couldn't resist. 40 F is a range, not a point on the scale, so the the equivalent celsius range is 0.556 x 40 = 22.2, not 5C.

Programs to control fans in mbp

Why isn't there a program for that?
I dont think that it would be too hard to write a program that edits numbers in a config file. Id really love a programm where i could edit the turn on/off temperatures of the fans like my dell notebook has, that is one point that im going to miss when im buying a mbp.

Here is another one for monitoring all your temps..http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19994..........I just read above ,didnt know it was already posted so Iedited this post..You might want to considera cooling pad of some kind that the air is blowing up against bottom of the laptop not down..Why..No fans or vent on the bottom of the macs........and consider this;If you are hot or sweating what cools you better Air blowing away from you or on you...Also the positioning of the fans on the cooler verses where your cpu, memory, battery are located....

Edit: someone posted this already, no need to have it twice.

On a related issue, I'l try some of the programs posted here and see what happens, I am happy with my MBP temperature at the moment but I want to see what happens.

wait so is there anything for 10.5?

there is 9 pages here and that is 50 posts per page

would the op please post all the solutions listed in his first post

Nice job.

I did a thermal paste replacement and my temps dropped by 10 degrees Celsius.
