My new firearms

Why do some Americans insist on this "let's teach my kids to fire guns" standpoint. I'm sure you're well aware of the number of gun related deaths and all the other well known statistics in the US. I just find it disturbing you're willing to take the risk of adding your own daughter to these statistics. No matter how well you teach her she's only eight. I did a lot of stupid stuff when I was eight, how can you be sure your daughter won't?

I think the whole "I need a gun for selfdefence" baloney is blown way out of proportion. Why don't you invest in some good locks for your doors and windows, or better yet, move to an area that's safer?

America should take a good look at western Europe. Guns are illegal for regular citizens and its noticable in every statistic you can imagine.

i don't agree that this is being hijacked. You can't expect to start a thread about something as controversial as this without people giving the opposing views.

If BTTM started a thread about a new job and a new Mac and people started coming in telling him how crappy Macs were and how they can't believe he'd own a Mac let alone teach his family how to use a Mac would you not say those people were thread crapping trolls?

And no, I'm not calling anyone a thread crapping troll, but if you want to debate firearms start a thread for debating firearms. Don't hijack BTTMs thread which is NOT about dedbating firearms.

It's the polite and respectful thing to do.

I don't think you can compartmentalise things like that. You just end up with a kind of self congratulatory thing. Anyway that's all from me on this one.

Just ordered two of these tlr-2 assault lights.

I am returning the tlr-1's as they don't have the laser sight on them.

They are very excited. It is volunteer basically. You still have to pass law enforcement standards, which I have, and you have to pass weapons training etc.

I will be used in emergency situations only. But, I will have a badge :)
 
Were those guns purchased completely out of pocket, or do you get some kind of stipend or assistance with the cost because of the role you are taking on?

As for me, don't get the chance to fire my AR-15 much since I am here in Japan and it is in the US.
 
Nice M9...I shoot my friend's Taurus PT99AF and I like it, but right now I own only milsurp long arms - Mausers Mosin-Nagants, Enfields etc.

My next firearm will either be a Garand or a Colt 1911A1...I really can't choose though. I'd like to get an AR15 as well, but I'm considering building one from a Rock River reciever or something instead of buying a "whole" rifle.

I love 1911's I really do, I just hate having to field strip one :)

That sucks! Are you stationed there? Or living short term? I can't wait to get my AR-15. I am itching for it.

I always like to travel back to the states and do some shooting. My favorite is a 22 cal rifle. Can shoot all day for pennies.

Shooting is fun. Gun cleaning is not! Well, unless the daughter is bringing home a prospective boyfriend and you want to impress upon him to have her home on time. Then it works well! :eek: :D
 
I just wanted to say that I'm glad LethalWolfe made the effort to take this thread back on topic as I have been reading it since you posted it and although I agree with those arguing against you I was upset that they turned your thread into what they did.

Clearly this thread is about your guns, and not a debate about whether you should have them.

Oh yeah, I was going to make a joke about how I wanted to buy a Klobb (anyone who played Goldeneye will think that's funny), but decided not to as I don't think it would have been well received.

Yea, I was pretty thankful too. Actually, my dad did do the gun cleaning trick on every gun that my sisters ever brought to the house. Pretty funny stuff.
