Before i built this PC I was relying on my MBP for PC gaming. It was functional and the perfect hardware for travel because I'm Mac centric. But this gaming computer, from a frame rate perspective runs circles around my laptop. But it's my MBP going with me on my next trip. :)

On a side note: You should definitely consider a 120hz monitor for gaming, especially if you do multiplayer FPS, it makes a HUGE difference and virtually eliminates tearing.

Agreed with above, 120Hz monitors help you actually (yes refresh rate has begun the marketing jargon; but 120Hz is fine).

Funny, I knew this was important for tvs... My monitor: 27" ViewSonic VX2753mh-LED which seems to have a refresh rate of about 80Hz, but I'm not actually sure. So far I've not noticed any display issues. I payed about $270 for this monitor. I'll have to cross check and see how much more the extra Hz costs in a similair monitor.

I'm not sure of the usefulness outside of FPS games and 3D (you have to have 120hz to do 3D).
