Why would anyone need to ask a stranger on a forum if they should exchange it or not ? Grown up ? Its your decision.

Can you not make your own decision? Seriously dude. Why do you need other ppl making it. If you can't stand the nick exchange it simple as that.

I just received my replacement iPhone, and there's a nick exactly like yours near the + button. I can live with it.

My 5 from last year had a few nicks on the edge but I lived with it. The early batches are usually the ones with quality issues.

Yeah I can see how your life would be affected by having to make an appointment and wait to have it replaced. Ranks right up there with starvation and human trafficking.

I understand what most are saying about you paid X amount and it should be perfect ect ect. How long does your phone stay "perfect"? After your obvious return abuse with the iPad, I say let this one go.

Just exchange it.

well my initial question is are they all like this? i mean yes i would love to exchange it but from my experience with theipad mini, it seemed all of them have some sort of inperfection. im jut wondering if other people knew or had experience if they were like this. i mean what if i get somethign worse? lol

I imagine very few "perfect" iPhones exist. I'd take one with a small nick like that over one with a screen problem like a dead pixel, or a hardware issue where it restarts several times a day.

My 5s has no nicks or imperfections it also doesn't rattle when recording video either. Just exchange it for one that's in good shape. Simple.

i did that with the ipad mini like 8 times, really dont want to go through that again wiht the 5S. I was wondering if their all not perfect

We've already established through this thread that not all phones have this particular issue. Mine does not, but I didn't view it through a magnifying glass (not will I), so who knows.

If you don't want to go through it again then just keep it and be happy. No one can guarantee that your next phone won't have one again. Or maybe your next phone will have some other issue that will require another exchange.

if you were yourself saw this on ur brand new 5S , would you accept it if you were in my position?

I doubt you are going to go through 8 iPhone 5s's like you did with the iPad mini.

I have received about 5 iPhone 5s's, two brand new retail units and 3 white box replacements, all of them had no nicks like your's does, all had perfect chamfered edges.

Apple will most likely replace this, the phone may work perfectly but it all boils down to the condition of the phone, its been damaged during manufacturing and not your fault. Its not 'flawless' like it should be, thats what you paid for right.

What really surprised me is that Apple hadn't yet blacklisted you after 8 iPad mini returns...

If you go through the posts you will find Chuck Norris is a serial problem finder, starting with Mbpr. And can't make a decision on anything. I call BS on the 8 minis.
Why ask here its your phone return it or just drop it and pretend you did:rolleyes:

A nick is the least of your worries. Wait until you battery starts going just after the warranty expires (14 months) which to me is unacceptable. Hearing that this a common problem on iPhone 5 right after updating to iOS 7. I'm praying that a second clean wipe will fix the issue. Otherwise no more iPhone's for my wife.

Not really a common problem... It'd be on the news if it was. Talked about online maybe, but only highlighted by the small number of failures. It's only because the people without problems don't post, and why would they when they have no issues lol. If it's only happened since ios7 then I expect it's software related, if not get apple to test it or do it yourself with ibackupbot.

Return it..

It's sad that people think it's OK to receive an iPhone with ANY defects. This device is marketed/sold as a premium/super high quality device and yet some are fine with it turning up BNIB marked all to ******.

You shouldn't need to defend yourself either, this problem simply shouldn't exist!

If I damage it due to carelessness or through wear and tear that's fine, but to see it damaged before I've even picked it out the box is unacceptable..

Mine has a noticeable dot/dent on the back but everything else is perfect and everything works flawlessly. I don't want to roll the dice and get a replacement that will be worse or have other issues like the screen issues i've been reading about etc.

Besides i would have to ship this phone and wait. Waited over 60 days. Not sure what happened to apple's quality.

If i were you i wouldnt trade it for that nick, anyway, i recommend you to check every part of the phone itself, specially the screen and the lock button, if they are fine, dont waste time and keep it, coz right now the main problems of the iPhone 5s are the loose lock button, the interlacing issues and the yellow tint (warmer) screens...

A week ago i've got my 5s 32GB space gray, in pristine condition, but with the lock button loose :c, also my screen is a little bit warmer compared to my mom iphone 5 (perfect white screen :C) so right now im fighting with the shop i bought it (here in chile theres no any apple store, and carriers suck) to validate my warranty and make me an exchange, coz i cant stand the "warmer" screen.

In conclusion, if your lock button and screen are in perfect condition, KEEP IT!

the main reason i ask this is cause i went thoguh this last year with my ipad mini. 8 ipad minis, and all had some sort of nick or something on the chamfered edge or metal finish.

lol 8 ipad minis are you crazy
